Celebrities we’ve lost in the last 6 months

Thanks for posting Several on there I had no Idea they had passed away. Funny how some are just forgotten and never really mentioned when they go. -
Who else here is a musician or plays an instrument?
OldTrucker replied to Hotrod 97's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
It is hard listening to all the music I love now. I can't sing along any more. Throat scarring from acid reflux that has become Barrerts Esophagus has taken its toll on my voice. I could sing some lower keyed country for quite a few years but now can't even do that. The only time I will sing along is by myself in the car with the windows up! -

Like people having corona virus parties in Kentucky, or going to the beach on spring break and partying like nothing is wrong! Lord knows I did lots of stupid things wen I was young (and a few since) but I sure wouldn't be doing things under these circumstances! Definitely not licking a toilet! -
Thanks to Everyone!

I hear ya preachin' Brother Snake! -
A feel good moment is all this! Was just talking to one of my Daughter-in-laws who went shopping after work the day all heck broke loose in the stores! Said the meat dept was cleaned out and a lot of other things she need as she was trying to do their regular shopping for the week. Needed toilet paper but seen the sheves were almost empty and you could not get into the crowded aisle if your life depended on it! She had just turned down the next aisle when she hear someone yell "go long" and she saw a big pack of Cottonell TP sailing through the air! It hit the heating duct and deflected off it and almost landed in her cart! It did end up in her cart too!LOL Hearing that made my day today!LOL

Corona Virus (Covid 19) and Model Kits
OldTrucker replied to Daddyfink's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Brand makes no difference to me as all my coffee has to be cooked down to a thin tar like consistency for me to drink it. Too many years driving trucks I guess!LOL -
Our Kroger store had a sign up yesterday telling people if they have been running a temp or have a cough to please go to the Pharmacy drive up window and give them your list and they will do the shopping for you. The cashiers and baggers and I suppose the rest who are working there all volunteered to keep coming in many working the entire 7am to 9PM hours if needed! Most say they just aren't going to let worrying get them down! I'm the only one that is going out of the house now and I make sure everything is kept as sterile as possible for the wife's sake. If it was to get me, well I guess I owe one seeing I've cheated the reaper twice already! She is right! Don't let it get you down!

Coronavirus (COVID-19) Discussions
OldTrucker replied to Dave Ambrose's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
As a kid in the early 60's would be fishing and watch the jets fly over leaving their trail and then watch as it slowly drifted away sometimes still visibly recognizable more than an hour after. Just depends on the air temperatures and the wind velocities how fast or slow they will dissipate. -

You see them behind cars on cold winter mornings! OH NO! Are they putting it in our gasoline supplies too!!!LOL Don't see it as much as we did as kids when you would lay out on the grass in the yard watching the clouds and then you saw the twin streak start across the as an airliner passed over head! We thought it was cool to watch as it started getting all squiggly as the jet stream started dissipating it! WE were 65 miles south of O'Hare Airport so there was a lot of air traffic over us. -
A local small shop repair guy we have here I found to be a very honest guy with his customers.(and about 1/2 the cost of most others) He will straight up suggest that they would be better served to buy a new unit if the repair cost would be too high. Many ask if he can find used parts and he says he can but he will not do repairs with used parts other than on units he takes in and repairs to resell, then he gives a 100% 6 month warranty on his repaired appliances) Some want their appliances fixed regardless which he says is ok if the unit is just a few years old but once they get past 8-10 they become a headache not just for him but the customer too when something else goes wrong and they assume it had something to do with what he fixed and it's not. If the customer chooses not to get their appliance repaired he will offer to take it in lieu of the service call price.

I don't know. I went when we needed it and found a big pack (all they had was big packs) and we are set for a couple months at least. A cousin said he could spare some if we ran out. The trucking company he drives for had a truck that got caught in the flooding so they wound up with a truck load of TP. Only the first layer of boxes were damaged so they had it all (undamaged freight) in the warehouse where they keep damaged freight they are responsible for and paid out on. They divided it up among the employees when the run on TP happened so he has a ton of it in his basement right now!LOL He hs given some away to elderly members of his church though.

I have been amazed at the number of businesses that have stepped up to help their employees during this mess! Kind of renews my faith in humanity somewhat! I hope it keeps up!

Ran to Hobby Lobby yesterday to get some paints I was running low on and wound up picking up a Freightliner SD/DD kit too. Wanted to make sure that I didn't run out of paint while things are shut down and we are shut in!LOL We don't go out of the house much any way other than to the grocery store or the doctors office or an occasional drive out in the country so this isn't that much of a change for us. -

Played in a garage band back in school. Played drums, bass and rhythm guitar. Have three guitars now. A cheap Encore acoustic, a Squire Strat and an old Harmony from the late 60's early 70's that I saved from being smashed up buy a punk band and rebuilt. To be honest I haven't picked a guitar up since my grandson passed in 2015. The music just isn't in me anymore. Also have a bass guitar kit that has been hanging around for about a decade that I need to build. -
Sad ews for sure but he lived a good life and made a lot of people fell good too! I have him on vinyl with the First Edition. I played the heck out of Just Dropped In on the jukebox at the A&W back in the day!

Coronavirus (COVID-19) Discussions

Well the IL. Governor is shutting down the state starting tomorrow afternoon. Really sucks, now I'll be stuck at home doing the same things that I have been doing every day for the past 7+ years!LOL On a real note kind of sad because with the wife's health problems like COPD, asthma and heart issues the kids have all told her to stay on the safe side they will be staying away for a while and the wife really is upset because that means no grandkids for a while. -

That is what I'm doing! along with counting flowers on the wall, that don't bother me at all, playing solitaire til dawn with a deck of 51! I don't smoke cigarettes and Captain Kangaroo ain't on any more! -
If memory serves me correctly that engine (the semi-hemi) can be easily converted into a hemi. (used the same block) That isn't the same as a 318 poly though. There are differences.

My son called this morning to tell us he and our oldest son had possibly been exposed to the corona virus by a guy they had worked with on Friday. Saturday my son and his daughter stopped by and later our oldest came by to pick up cookies his mom had baked for him visited us and later their other brother and his family had stopped in and visited. The whole work crew my sons were working with had to go home and the builder had to lock up the house they were doing trim work in until it could be cleaned. Turns out after the big boss of their company told the guy he needed to provide doctors reports to him before they could let him come back after quarantine the guys story started to change and by the end of the conversation he claimed it was all a misunderstanding with what his wife had told him and while the lady his wife worked with had been tested and found negative his wife was quarantined and tested, but for the flu, not corona!!! Turns out he was trying to get a few paid weeks off through the Aflac insurance from work! My wife had COPD and heart issues and it scared the you know what out of us all thinking she might have been exposed! I figured it was several degrees of separation between the person tested and my wife but with no real information on just how exactly this could be transmitted it does make one worry! The boss is looking into firing the guy but his lawyer told him to tread lightly so he doesn't get sued in the end.
