  1. If you really want to get technical it was a hold over from and the last of the fat fendered design of cars from the 40's! Just because it is a VW does not change that! I remember the old guys whining at a local car show when the Bugs were put in the same corral as their old Fords and Chevys!LOL
  2. Sure was a lot of old iron on the road that day! Love the old Dodge truck!
  3. Why do I get this feeling that there will be a sequel to this in the near future???LOL
  4. Had a couple sitting in the parts yard behind the s VW shop back in the 80's & early 90's and a couple conversion kits for the Ford and Rolls sitting around that no one wanted!
  5. Another tire went bad on the HHR. So now have to replace the front tires. Had the same issue about 4 months ago one of the rears went bad. Less than 1,4000 miles on them! Of course I guess being 7 years old might have something to do with it!LOL
  6. Joe, our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. We offer our deepest condolences.
  7. Shipping is getting too high any more for buing on line.
  8. A resin body and parts that use a plastic kit for a donor for the rest.
  9. While I love the 64 drag cars the 63 is just a prettier less boxy looking car. Rare to see one in drag form.
  10. I agree, just seems that some of my best and most enjoyable work is on a built up or what was left of one that someone else discarded and I saved from the trash! I guess it is just the challenge and seeing the transformation that makes it so! Just like builds from the parts box!
  11. This kit reminds me of some of the last standard beetles ( supers too ) that came out of the plant in Mexico. They were a mix of parts from the 60s and 70s.
  12. As my Great Granny used to say, it takes all kinds to make the world go round and it you lose even one it will slow it to a stop in time! Took until I was grown and out in the real world to understand what she meant! I'm no artist nor a show quality builder but I sure do enjoy this hobby and even if I don't care for another builders style I still enjoy seeing their work and respect them for their accomplishments and what they bring to the hobby!
  13. If the Pack wins it will be because of a good team effort. Not the ref's and not all Rogers. Rogers seems to have reached his peak and is starting that long slow slide and that"s coming from a diehard Packers Fan! This has been a terrible year for officiating in the NFL! Do away with replays and reviews, go back to rules before 1990 and just play the game!
  14. ?? is about all I can say about this one!
  15. While I like several versions of the song Dave Dudley owned it!
  16. Didn't even know such a thing even existed.?
  17. I know Jim, I just remembered having this picture I took at a local parade a Rambler Convertible!LOL I wasn't even sure this was an actual vert as the guy also had a matching hardtop in the parade.
  18. So sorry for your loss. Prayers going out for you and family.
  19. I always have said I'd never give that kind of money for any kit but then I would have never had that kind of cash to shell out on something like that! So I guess I'm saying if I did have the cash, I'd probably be one that would if it was something I really wanted that bad! But not as a collector but as a builder as I see no point in collecting. Have seen too many people collect things that are going sky high in value saying that was their retirement plan only to see the ceiling fall in on them in the end! I can't fault or condemn anyone else that does same as I will not beat up on a seller that is just getting what the market will allow for something they own! Ain't my business what he does with it!LOL
  20. Saw a guy at a swap meet pay something like 275 dollars for a kit and then stood there and tore off the shrink wrap! The guy that sold it to him about had a coronary right on the spot when the guy said he was going to build it!?
  21. Joe, I once paid only 600 dollars for a 1:1 68 Road Runner with a 440 4 speed.......in 1977!?
  22. I just use us !LOL
  23. The station wagons made cool little Pincheros! Helped build a few some with V8's! Sold my 69 Chevelle with a 396 (402) 4 speed for 900 bucks, (yeah, I know but that was all it would sell for back then! worse yet they made a street stock out of it!) and on my way home saw a pretty blue wagon for sale. Ran and drove great had onlt 60,000 miles on it. He wanted a 1000 for it and I bought it for 750. On the drive home I started hearing a noise that got louder and louder and pulled over to check. It had developed a rod knock!!! Was so disgusted I just stuck a for sale sign on it. My father-in-law found a motor for 200 bucks in a low mileage wrecked pinto but I was still ticked and turned it down. Wound up with some old guy buying it for 550 dollars and I told him where the motor was for sale. Two years later saw him filling it with gas and pulled it to talk to him. I was surprised he still had it and asked if he got that motor but he said he didn't need it. When he left he started it up and the dang thing was still knocking just as loud and when he bought it two years before!LOL The ones I worked on for other people mostly had carb issues. We usually replaced them with a Webber.
  24. I'll put them on as soon as I find them again! They seem to have fallen into the workbench black hole!
