What Did You Have for Dinner?
OldTrucker replied to StevenGuthmiller's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
Had homemade chicken and noodles with homemade chocolate cake for dessert! -
Was finally nice enough for the wife and I to get outside and putter around! Cleaned up the winter mess around the patio, cleaned and repainted one of the patio tables and scrubbed down the swing and after it dried sat and counted airplanes for while!

Happy Belated Birthday Rich!

I've looked and looked for one and if you are fortunate enough to find a solid one the price they want is astronomical! Most I have went and looked at the rust worms have done a number on what little frame they had. I had a pickup about 7 years ago and the rust was so bad I parted it out and junked the rest of it even though several people really wanted to buy it. It just wasn't safe to be on the road!(or off for that matter) My rule of thumb has been, If you are having second thoughts on keeping it then it is time to let it go.

What irked me really bad was yesterday. Went to a dog breeder with a friend to pick up his new puppy. While we were there one of his workers came in and told him there was a problem with on of the beagle pups that were just born. He went out and then came back carrying the pup. He laid it on a bench and told the worker to go back that he would take care of it when he was done with business. I could see that it had deformities but was alert and very active. It's left front leg was stunted with the paw where the leg joint should be, the left ear looked like when a leaf just starts to uncurl and it was missing it's left eye. Was solid bone where the eye socket would be. I asked him what he was going to do to which he replied that her would destroy it. I told him if he put it back with the mother until it was weened that I would take it and would even pay something for it to cover the time and any costs of it's care. (shots worming and such) He just said no, picked it up got a 2 pound hammer out of a drawer and walked out the back door! I started to follow but my friend grabbed my by the shoulder and stopped what probably would have been a mistake on my part. So we took his new pup and left. I didn't sleep much last night still thinking about it.

Those two never stay sick very long. They bounce right back way faster than any kids I have ever seen! Healthy living I guess! I haven't had the flu or even a real cold since the late 70's! Had the flu in 1978 and it almost killed us both but out kids never got sick! We get the shot now every year.

Tire Letter Decals
OldTrucker replied to kyleaustin81's topic in WIP: Stock Cars (NASCAR, Super Stock, Late Model, etc.)
So they aren't too bright white I rub the side of a pencil lead over the letters then buff it off a bit . -
I've had that happen to me before! Did you contact the seller about it?

Great build of one of the most beautiful car designs ever! Stealthy and sexy looking at the same time!

One word "Awesome"!

Sweet looking Corvette! Great choice for colors and the tires really set it off! Also great to see one built as a small block version for a change!

Did this one from B&W pictures I had seen and my memory of the hulk of a car that was behind the VW shop I once worked at. It was the owner's late brother's car that he drag raced in the late 50's and early 60's before his untimely death. He had used the 348 out of their dad's wrecked 58 Chevy and when I saw the car it had been pretty well trashed and most of the glass gone, interior destroyed and engine missing the intake and left to the weather.

The King Of Surf Guitar passed away at the age of 81. Seems that he pretty much toured right until his death in order to keep up with his mounting medical bill from chronic health issues. One of the guitar greats in my opinion! Godspeed Dick Dale.

Rich, even though they are not in the "official" records which the guys at Chevelles.com hold as gospel there were cars that were produced from the factory that are not reflected in their bible. I went round nd round with them when I was over there because I had a 1969 Chevelles Malibu WITH a factory big block and even had the documentation (ie build sheets and order forms from the dealer) because I was second owner having bought it off an AMC used car lot where the original owner traded it in! He ordered it new from the dealer with the 396 (actually the 401) 4speed with a 12 bolt posi to use to pull his two horse trailer. It was like they had took an SS and put all the Malibu interior and exterior trim and flat hood on it in place of the SS trim. But seeing I had sold the car back around 1978 I no longer had any of the paperwork. So because I could not produce it they screamed foul and said I was wrong (some said liar)! My wife's Uncle worked for GM for almost 40 years and he told me about a lot of oddball cars that were built in factory, some for execs and some for special customers. One he confirmed for me being a 1954 Chevy Belair with a 265 V8 factory ac and all power accessories! I asked about it because I picked that car up from a GM warehouse in Detroit and delivered it to a collector down near Henderson Kentucky back in 1989!

Actor Jan Michael Vincent died of cardiac arrest
OldTrucker replied to NYLIBUD's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
He was what they call a natural as changing role types seemed to come to him easy. That makes them hard to work with and they tend to burn out over time. It led to drug and alcohol problems for him ad we can see the end results. It is sad that such a good actor has to end this way. First time I ever noticed him in anything was in the movie "Tribes" and then "White Line Fever" and "Hooper"! Then picked up on his other roles in TV series and bit parts in other movies. -
Took me over a month due to weather, health issues and many other obstacles but got the first one of 2019 done! Pretty much out of box. Cleaned up the tires removed the leftovers of the front inner fenders and added some bars. Cut the interior bucket down so the rear seat cover fit down into the tub. and added the missing down tubes for the cage and raised it to a better position Made exhaust collectors with a straw from McDonalds. and added a filler fron the radiator support to the grill. I know these old kits are far from real but they make me feel 12 again when I build them!

Called in more prescriptions to Walgreens. Ceck to see if they are ready and the two that are are showing 427.98 and 107.98 !!! Just like last time I'm sure they tried to send it through an old insurance instead of the newest one! Three times we have taken in the new card and they said it was fixed and this is how well they evidently DIDN'T fix it! They have 5 differen't insurances in their file and I said just take them out except the new one and they say they can't!!! Bout ready to change drug stores!!!
