Diorama maker passes
OldTrucker replied to lordairgtar's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
A real loss. The wife and I really enjoyed looking at his work. -
There were! Had a Yellow with black stripes Grabber with 302 4 speed! Quick little car if you could get it to hook up but they had a terribly weak rear end.

Don't even want to think about that one!

I hear ya loud and clear on that Bill!

I feel for the people that have lost everything and even family in these fires. Our prayers are with them all. One thing for sure, Hagerty and the other insurers of collector cars are going to have a bad year.

You could but there was a time limit after and while they eventually had to evict some or they would have stayed there forever. Most that were used were uninhabitable after eventually being vacated and were destroyed. Most of those trailers built were never used and sat in holding lots deteriorating. Many were auctioned off and were moved to trailer parks and sold or rented out. There were several here in the park I'm in when we moved here 6 years ago they have since been vacated nd torn down as they were literally falling apart because of their cheap construction.

On Thanksgiving my boys were talking about everyone's height and where it came from. Our twin sons are 6' and 6'1" their Big brother is 5'3" their sister is 5'5". Their mom is 5' (used to be 5'1" ) Me, when I left high school I was 5'10" but after two chopper crashes over 500 jumps out of perfectly good aircraft , jumping down out of cabover trucks and off trailers and a broken back that resulted in a botched surgery I'm now a little over 5'6" .(and 80 pounds heavier) So I have shrunk around 3.5 inches! Grandma used to tell me I would have been 7 foot tall if I wasn't forever jumping out of trees and off porch and barn roofs and out of hay lofts!

What do you listen to while you build???
OldTrucker replied to slusher's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
Mostly the wife complaining because she called me into the other room to help her with something that she usually has figured out or done before I get in there! Then complain she had to call me 6 times which she knows that with the 60's tunes going in here and her tv shows on in there and my bad ear towards the door I can't hear a darn thing! I listen to my "Monkees Station" on Pandora mostly. -
What Did You Have for Dinner?
OldTrucker replied to StevenGuthmiller's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
Last night, fried pork chops, mashed potatoes with gravy made from the pork chop pan leavings, peas & carrots and a hunk of Gouda cheese! Mandarin oranges for dessert. -
I painted them rubber and scrapped off the black on the ridges to make the double stripe whitewalls!

Mystery kit tires
OldTrucker replied to Sledsel's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Thought I had a set . These look similar but there have a directional arrow on the tire and have the outline lettering on both sides and say Good Year Eagle ZR40 and VR50. -
Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving DAY! Had a great day with our three boys and wives as well as 5 of our youngest grandkids! Wife made her famous bean salad and 5 pies from scratch!Apple, cherry, blueberry and 2 pumpkin! The daughter-in-laws put together a great meal! Best thing the doc put me on a low dose anxiety med and I for the first time in a long time I felt good all day with no chest pain at all!

Saw my family doctor yesterday who assures me after consulting with my cardiologist and looking al all my tests that I do not have any cardiac issues and am not in any danger of having a heart attack or other cadiac event. The chest pain he says most likely are from the reflux and Barretts and muscular skeletal pain from being somewhat sedentary and too much time sitting at my work bench and computer. Said unless I wanted to be back on steroids or pain meds the best suggestion would be getting out and walking as much as I can and to lose about one preson's worth of my weight and I can agree with that one! Said it would help with my hiatal hernia and my blood pressure issues and with my hypoglycemia. Said a lot of the light headedness is due to drops in my blood pressure because of the bp meds and water pill that I'm on which also slows my heart rate especially when I'm sitting for extended periods. The cardiologist says the chest pain the day I went to the hospital most likely was because my heart rate slowed and then skipped a couple beats when it picked back up and then raced to get the pressure back up. Told me to cut down one of the meds to every other day. At least I can go to thanksgiving at my son's with worrying I'll drop off in front of the grandkids!

A real beauty! From an era of clean uncluttered paint schemes that looked good!
-
That is a sweet looking "what if" build!
-
Just beautiful! Saw this one in action what seems like a lifetime ago! To me that was the greatest era of drag racing.

We have Direct TV right now and ATT internet. Getting ready to cut the cord so to speak and go on antenna. Not worth the cost as 99.8% of what we watch is from local stations we can get on antenna!

Show Your T's
OldTrucker replied to Terry Jessee's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
My wife made me click onto this thread to prove that it really was about cars!!! -
I've had several do that the last few years. I think they have bad batches sometimes. My issue is that it now takes forever for their paints to dry! I was told though it is the EPA's blame for that.

Sad news as he was one of my favorite entertainers, one of the few I actually had the pleasure to meet in person years ago. He was one of the most musically talented men in the business. Highly underrated in my book. Godspeed Roy

We have seen this with some of our other doctors after the change in healthcare laws and doctors started leaving private practice and becoming what I call "company doctors" and become part of the hospital or clinic "group"! Now half the time you only get to see the doctor if the "PA" thinks it is necessary to. (unless you are like my wife and raise nineteen kinds of heck until they get him! LOL) I don't know if it is everywhere but the doctor can no longer "direct admit" a patient to the hospital. They have to send them to the ER where that doctor reviews what your doctor diagnosed and then upon the ER Doc's check he makes the decision of whether you meet the 5 criteria that is now required for admission. Usually if you aren't in dire distress or half dead they put you in outpatient observation first.
