  1. Not all kit boxes are the same size. You'll probably have to do a trial and error test.
  2. Most decal sheets have extra info, such as copyright date, kit number, etc. Apply one of those to a sprue, then spray with the paint you have.
  3. I prefer Tamiya TS-13
  4. Very nicely done, sir! Kudos to you for not saturating the post with redundant pictures...poignant but not overbearing.
  5. Excellent! That's also a very inexpensive solution as well. Just remember to use a used dryer sheet; a fresh sheet can leave a residue behind.
  6. Wipe the plastic down with a used dryer sheet
  7. You'll probably need to bring your own decal paper with you
  8. The cap on the Krylon can is bright and shiny...can't say the same for the spoon (false advertising?).
  9. Stellar build! Having owned several 1:1 cars with vinyl tops from that era, I tried my best to have a semi-gloss on the tops, as opposed to a flat finish...something to consider.
  10. Yeah, I was wondering where he got such a huge piece of wood for a display base! Outstanding job on the wheel covers, not only in the 3D printing, but the finish as well
  11. I had a '64 SS in yellow, black interior, 327/300 hp with powerglide. Nice build! There are a couple things that could improve the accuracy.
  12. As a work-around (to avoid making aluminum too shiny)... Get a short length of plumber's Teflon tape (6" or so). Hold one end of the tape, lay the rest over the area to be buffed, and buff in one direction only, away from the end being held. If necessary, flip the tape around so you can burnish in the other direction. Thin aluminum foil can be used in the same fashion. Teflon tape and aluminum foil are very thin, allowing you get into the nooks and crannies. You also avoid contact between the buffing tool and the foil.
  13. Be careful and don't overdo any buffing. Excess buffing will make the foil shiny.
  14. That might be a risky thing to do.
  15. What technique did you use when you were "just cutting 2 pieces of plastic" to get the nice round shapes? You make it sound so easy.

Very well done, and just the right number of pictures. Too many posts have photos taken at (apparently) 10 degree rotations, and often have duplicates...nice job on the camera work!
  17. The dome light is a very nice touch. Not trying to hijack your thread, but there's another approach for dome/courtesy lights... http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/topic/101871-dome-and-courtesy-lights/?tab=comments#comment-1423349
  18. Great looking model. The valve stems are a very nice touch. As a suggestion, you might want to consider darkening the insides of the exhaust pipes...it looks like the engine was never started or run.
  19. Perhaps if you post this in (or ask an Admin to move it to) the "Where Can I Get" forum...
  20. Wow! Great execution. I'm surprised at that monster cowl (could you even see to drive on the street?) for a single 4bbl carb.
  21. I do the same
  22. Gosh, sorry to hear you've received some off-brand stuff and don't know the compatibility. Since you have it on hand, why don't YOU try it out and let us know the results instead of whining about the lack of responses?
  23. Excellent clean up! Food for thought... Xacto knife/paint brush storage: http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/topic/102340-xacto-or-paint-brush-rack/?tab=comments#comment-1432702 More Xacto storage: http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/topic/103458-more-xacto-storage/?tab=comments#comment-1455382
