  1. How about a picture or two?
  2. I'm 75...in 2017 I had a lung infection, lost a son to suicide, was hospitalized for an aortic abdominal aneurism, survived a hurricane, and had cancer surgery for a node in my right lung. I haven't built a model in over two years. With that in mind, I think you also must take into consideration the lessening of skills, eyesight, hand/eye coordination as you grow older, as well as other factors such as emphysema and Parkinson's Disease. All of those grand and glorious financial plans fall flat if you're not physically or emotionally capable of performing the tasks! I have no credit card debt or car payments...just the mortgage and I can handle that. Building models is another thing...I now have to set aside time for working on models...not exactly how I had anticipated my retirement. Take care of your health first...the financial aspects mean nothing if you can't enjoy them.
  3. "Do" as in paint or "Do" as in fabricate?
  4. Another awesome build! Might I suggest including a link to the "On The Workbench" thread so others can see how you did this?
  5. I'm finding that out the hard way. At 75, my hands are barely steady enough to work on 1/24 or 1/25. Maybe I need to go to a larger size model...
  6. An absolute stunner! How forgiving is the Molotow product if you accidentally get some on the paint (such as when you are "chroming" the windshield/rear window trim)?
  7. Shortly after I "graduated" from the Army in '69, I returned to being a tech writer for the F-4 Phantom. That allowed me to go to Davis Monthan AFB near Tucson AZ to test some procedures. While I was there, I saw an El Camino in Air Force blue with Air Force markings; I asked an airman what it was used for. He gave me (I think) a wild tale about how, when a U2 was landing, the Camino would race up under one wing, place a strut (with a wheel), then back off and race up to the other wing and put another strut in place. Those U2's only had the belly landing gear, so it seemed feasible at the time. Looking back, I think the airman was pulling my leg.
  8. Before you get too condescending, the drill can be used for other modeling tasks. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/topic/102101-a-handy-accessory/?tab=comments#comment-1428008
  9. I put the tubing a drill cradle (see below), then use a Dremel with a cutoff wheel for nice, straight cuts.
  10. Your type font is waaay too large....can you dial it back a bit?
  11. The eraser makes it easy to change the identity of the fresh blade and also minimizes rolling...
  12. I have two handles with #11 blades. One handle has a "fresh" blade, and I put a rubber eraser tip on the end. The other handle is my "work" knife; when it gets dull, I put a new blade in it and move the eraser tip to that handle. I always know which handle has the freshest blade.
  13. A clear plastic spoon can be made into a bubble top. You could also vacu-form one.
  14. Tightly wrap some wire around a rod and fabricate your own
  15. Excellent tip. Hopefully, the panel lines will not be done in black (way too obvious). Depending on the body color, I'll offset it with a drop or two of a contrasting color for the panel lines. That yields a subtle (but not stark) delineation.
  16. And you are whining why? Gasp, these posts are not required reading!
  17. I just ordered one from Amazon. After all, the tractor is my namesake.
  18. 40 years? What took you so long? JK. I was 9 years old (66 years ago) when I built my first P-40 Tomahawk Flying Tiger.
  19. Nice rust job! Maybe it's just me, but the shiny wheels contradict the rusty body...they don't seem to go together.
  20. Try a Google search on Mopar Diesel Engines...lots of pictures https://www.google.com/search?q=mopar+diesel+engines&rlz=1C1AVNG_enUS698US698&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwiik_SR1NbeAhWQrVkKHbKBBYAQ_AUIDygC&biw=1280&bih=563
  21. Very well done, especially the engine bay. It's nice to see you didn't go overboard on the number of pictures.
  22. Why not build one similar to this but with Mudder Tires and 4-wheel drive?
  23. I second that. By starting a new topic, you can display pictures of the completed model only, and will keep the size of the post a bit smaller because the WIP pictures are omitted. As Dave suggested, put a link in the "Under Glass" post that will allow the viewer to look at the WIP pictures.
  24. You might consider Brasso or Wright's Silver Cream (both are found in grocery stores).
