  1. I think that I remember that truck. Cool pics by the way. Thanks for posting them!....Brian
  2. Now I like this build! Great Work!!!
  3. Thanks for the inspiration pic Terry. Is that an 8v or a 6v in that truck? The picture looks like it was taken back in the day, maybe mid 80s. I've also been toying with the idea of tilting the hood like this one (would solve my warped hood problem), but I still haven't made a decision.
  4. You are a craftsman!! Excellent Work!!!
  5. This thing is amazing!!! Very Nice Indeed!!!
  6. It is hard to believe that is the same truck! You did an excellent job! Short the lever locks, it looks just like the Snowman truck to me! Very Impressive!!!
  7. Cool Build!!! I like the drag link. That can actually be a tricky obstacle on the 1:1 projects as well as you might know. That is why I went with a side drag link design on my 71, there were too many obstacles on mine.
  8. The bulk of state fuel stickers were applied to the driver's side of the truck. There were also some on passenger's side, and New York was on the front. There were tags like you're speaking of on the front of the truck as well that had stickers on them. If I remember right, drivers used to call those "bingo cards". I'm not sure if the bingo card preceded the side stickers, or whether they were used together. I do know that prior to the side stickers there were also fuel tax plates on the front of the truck that differed some from regular license plates.
  9. That engine is very impressive!!! I want to see more of this build!
  10. They're the same. The H just uses an extra mounting plate. They are usually over $1500 depending on the version. You can find them cheaper, you just can't be in a hurry. Aftermarket units like Swartz are cheaper as well.
  11. I've had experience with cars, tractors, models, and other stuff that I'm sure that I forgot, but it is the same in all, you just have to shop around. Years ago two guys were bidding on a wide front end for a Farmall M at an auction. Both were determined to get it and it sold for an outrageous price. After that, word got out, and wide front ends went through the roof in price (and still are by the way). The seller has a right to set his price, so don't have hard feelings towards him, simply buy somewhere else. When I look at Ebay I wonder if some of those folks are even trying to sell their stuff, I also seen the boxes that make their annual trip to the swap meet never to sell, but for others, there may be overhead costs, or circumstances that we are unaware of that affect their price. So simply do a little homework (if you can) before your purchase, and still from time to time (like myself) your wants and excitement may cause you to pay a little more than you should have.
  12. Depending on the era you are modeling. I'm different and like to model the 70's and 80's era trucks as they would have been then. These required a number of fuel tax stickers, as well as ICC numbers, unit number, etc. and often times several plates. modeltruckin.com should have the decals that you need.
  13. I like to clear over my decals, but the last ones that I got from modeltrucking.com bled when I cleared them. That is not to say that anything was wrong with the decals, it could have been my clear. My new policy is that I try to get 2 sets or at least pick out something from the sheet that may not be used and test first to see if there is going to be a bleed problem. If there is a problem, then I would avoid the clear, and if not, go ahead and clear. It is real discouraging to think that you are on the home stretch and a mishap like the color leaving your decals occurs. Maybe other don't have this problem, but I prefer to be safe (if I can) than sorry. Hope this helps...Brian
  14. A true craftsman!!!! This thing is incredible!!!!
