The Newly Tooled Revell 1971 Boss 351 Mustang
stavanzer replied to baycolony's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Looks Great in that Colour! I'll be watching for more progress. -
I'd vote for either 1965 Kit. The El Camino, as seen in the Construction kit, with the small shell, or the Wagon. Both kits are perfect Choices for Race Track Tow vehicles. Be really nice if the Combo had matching markings for both Units.

Good For You, Carl! NIce when that happens!

I've been there, and I am still "doing that". It is hard, but the slow steady progress eventually produces results. Lasting results. Losing weight fast, while very satisfying, does not always help keep it off. Losing it more slowly helps to keep moving your bodies' "Reset Point" down, so that your body just thinks that the lower weight is normal. Keep Up the Good Work.

I remember this review as well. It made me purchase the kit.

RECOMMENDATION Plain Steel Wheels, K-10
stavanzer replied to 1972coronet's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Sodbuster's Desert Dogs my have in I.D. that is too big for most AMT Steelies. Try fitting some Spare rims to see. Fireball Resin has all the steelies and GM truck hubcaps you could want. Try looking at his list. 1/24 rims might be big enough to work on the DD's if they are too big for AMT/MPC rims. -
I have a partial sheet of Autoworld decals1962 printed in 1962. They have some really unique vintage, European sponsor logo, and I want to save them. I've tried a couple I did not need, and had one explode into fragments, and the other split in half, but remained useable. How do I salvage the ones I want? It would help, if there is something I can use at Hooby Looby, but I can mail order if I have too. Or is there a good, modern decal sheet of 1950's and 1960's logos as would be seen a Le Man, or Monte Carlo Rallye? I particularly want a "Tag Heuer, Chronograph" Decal. I'm building a Fantasy 1964 Monte Carlo entry, and while they are not todays' billboards, they do a carry a select few sponsor decals. Thanks, for the help.

Can this 1968 Corvette kit be built stock?

Cool Kit, HPI GUy does a great Kit review of the contents and buildup. -
I think it is a carry-over from Diecast Cars. That is where I first noticed it. Then Moebius copied it, and now Revell. I have no clue of the technical reason for doing it this way, but, Like You, I don't care for it. I wish they would stop doing it. It may have somehow be connected to the fact that this first appeared on Chinese made Diecast "Franklin Mint-style" pieces. It seems to have spread from there to other places who have tooling done in China. MIght be a slowly spreading Chinese thing, but I am just guessing. I do know that it is very annoying.

HPI Guy just did a review of this kit. My First though when I saw it? Cannonball Run Highway Patrol Car. (Nevada, maybe?) The Blue/Silver Firebird in the opening credits. It's not perfect, but with the proper paint, decals and lightbar, it will be close enough for me! Hooray for Round2 bringing this back.

And nothing at all wrong with that! -
Wish round 2 would release some obscure stuff
stavanzer replied to jeffp60's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
I might agree with you if I had not seen some of the Modren Sales numbers. Mustangs & Messerschmitt's or Mustangs & Camaro's underpin the Model Industry. These are the sales giants that allow most of the new stuff to get funding. It is (of course) far more complicated than that, but these kits 'always' sell. So, new versions get tooled and old versions get new decals and are re-released. -
I've only placed a couple orders with Fireball, but both very sent fast with great communication.

I Love your build! I have a 'thing' for racing Camaros. This is a great one!

Hunting Car Anyone?

There was a 1950 Buick Hunting Car from King Ranch on the cover of either Popular Science ot Mechanix Illustrated back in 1950 or 1951. My Dad had the issue, and it was an Awesome Car? I still remember the painting on the cover. -
It is the only one I know of, and it most not certainly, 'Trash'.... Pretty Nice kit actually. I've built two of them.
