Atlantis Models has bought another lot of tooling/molds.....
stavanzer replied to Dave Van's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Very Sweet. With Today's building and finishing techniques, I have no doubt some very sharp models will be built from this kit. -
Will the rear bumper for the '69 Falcon work for you? I have the Mod Stock '69 Falcon, and would gladly send you the bumper, if you want it.

Moebius Wrecker Truck Announcement
stavanzer replied to Erik Solie's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
Wanting one of these. I remember the Ford Wreckers being far more common in real life, than Chevies. Not sure why. -
Times were different back then. But, it should sell today, I would think. But, I suspect re-issuing this kit is not a priority right now for Round2 with the success they are having with the cloning programs. Those kits create much more "Buzz" than a few pre-tooled damaged parts for an evergreen kit would produce/ But, You never know. I'd but a couple just to have fun with.

Thanks, Scott, I checked out his engine. It looks really good. I might be getting one.

What the dickens is this car? I've never heard of it before, but It is Awesome! I want one!

So, for a closer to stock build, I need to swap the engine. I cannot imagine this barge with a 6 or the 302! Guess I'll be on the lookout for a 390 or 429. I'm really beginning to like to like this kit. That Hemming's article really makes me want one. Maybe somebody will do a resin convertible body.

Did this kit ever have a Stock Air Cleaner, ot just the Dual Carbs and Air Horns that are shown in my kit? (the 2004 version)

'Duel' movie truck question: wheel/tire size
stavanzer replied to robdebie's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
My Thoughts on the Wheel Size Issue. For What they are worth. Since this is ultimately about how that model looks when done, I circle back to you comments about finding a wheel/tire combo that "looks" right and fills the fenders of the truck. If a 1/24th Tire or Wheel is needed, to get the look you want, and has the desired 'correct details' (re: Hole size and shape) then go with the 1/24 pieces. We as modelers get so caught up in the "1% Question, 1/25 vs 1/24" that we sometimes fail to see how manipulating these scale size differences can work to our advantage. In this case, I think that 1/24 Tires at least may be the solution for the "Filled Fender" conundrum that you are facing. Your 3D printed wheels look good to me. -
Great News, Steve! I look forward to the kit!

No talk about the Round2 1971 Dodge Demon ?
stavanzer replied to gtx6970's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Good Question. -
Looks Great from here. Not a great fitting kit. I tried to build one when I was in Jr. HIgh, and botched it totally. One of the few kits I have no desire to try to build again.

Moebius Wrecker Truck Announcement
stavanzer replied to Erik Solie's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
I've got a couple of Monogram/Revell 1990's F-350 Dualies that are just crying for for a Wercker body like this. I'd buy a couple of the bodies by themselves. I'll be getting a couple of these rigs too. -
Odd Place to Find Models
stavanzer replied to Calb56's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I've been buying kits from Shopgoodwill.com, for years. Some times you can great deals, but it takes luck, a sharp eye and some good background knowledge to get deals anymore. A few years ago, rare kits sold for next to nothing. Now collectors have found it, and rare kits (especially Car Kits) sell for close to Collector Prices. Since each kit is listed by the individual store, photo quality and listing accuracy varies widely. It has gotten better though. There is a handy box on the lower left side that will help you calculate shipping costs. These are usually high, but pretty accurate. When you go to the home page, use the 'Advanced Search' tab, then go to "Crafts and Hobbies" then go to the sublisting "Model Kits". That way you can just search kits. It takes sifting but is fun when you are bored at 3am. -
MPC-988 1/25 George Barris Granny's Hot Rod $35.99 TBA
stavanzer replied to ss2000's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Two Points. 1. I think Ken Kitchen Built an Olds Depot Hack out of this kit. 2. Tony, the kit is a 2'n'1. Granny's Hot Rod, and Stock. The stock kit is pretty decent, with a stock Olds 4 Cyl and has the famous Wooden Bench and a couple kegs for the fenders. The Rod has a decent Injected V-8 and some very nice rims, and a separate "Modern" swoopy flatbed for the rear. In a very old issue of the HCCA magazine there was a small black & white pic of the Olds on display at Knott's Berry Farm, before Barris bought it. The car had already been cut down, and a had a huge piece of Mining Machinery on the back, It was very tall. May have been a Rock Crusher or such like. Photo was shared with the magazine because the car was now famous. Sort of a "Before it was a Star" photo. Here are some directions. (note every kit from this production run, that I have ever opened, has severe 'mold shift, on just the spoke wheels. It causes wide spokes with a flat surface on one edge of the spoke.) https://public.fotki.com/drasticplasticsmcc/mkiba-build-under-c/amt-instructions/tv--movie/amt-the-beverly-hil/?view=roll -

Great Build. The weathering is a perfect "Goldilocks" Not Too Little, Not Too Much. Just Right! The small details really help tell a story. -

I see an Olds Doodlebug in my future. -
Maybe Casey can scrounge one up. The Drastic Plastic site has only a partial sheet from the 2009 re-release, IIRC.
