  1. After doing a deep dive into the MPC Gran Prix kits via Drastic Plastic and Casey's Proboards Site, it looks like the GP kits did not change much from 68 to 72. Engine and Chassis look to be the same in all kits, which fits with MPC's Tooling & Kit practices. Interior Tub and Seats, and even the wheels appear to be little changed, although without seeing the parts it is hard to tell. The body tooling of course is updated for each new year, but it looks to me, like the changes on the kits were mostly just the Front End and Headlights. The extras (Ski Parts & Crutches, and for one year the Wild/mild 'Put-On' parts) stayed the same. I think that they might still be in the tool, hiding. I suspect that I am missing some details but the but looks to have had no major changes from 68 to 72. So, the Sweathogs tooling may contain more parts than we know. It might be worth a "One-Run-of-Fun" before trying to restore the body. But this is all pure speculation, and the tool may very well be either lost or unusable.
  2. Awesome Build! I like these cars.
  3. Outstanding Builds! I really like the burgundy one.
  4. Indeed! What a Hot Number. I'd have to have one of those.
  5. This sure looks nice. Much better than mine is turning out. I wish Revell would backdate the grille and tool up some stock wheels. Throw in the camper shell that already exists, and you'd have an all new truck.
  6. Alright Bill, here you go!
  7. Thank You So Much. Just weird.... And Yes, the Eye Bleach is needed for this one. If it wasn't 50.00 bucks, I might buy it.....
  8. Wow! Can't wait to see this done!
  9. NIce! Looking forward to seeing where this ends up.
  10. Can somebody please save the photos from this eBay auction for the Superfly Kit, into this thread? https://www.ebay.com/itm/325224472904?hash=item4bb8e3a148:g:NKIAAOSw~~Rioo8Y I hope these can be saved. This build is just too weird to believe, otherwise.
  11. Jon, the problem with trying to replace the huge Headlights on the Dream Machine, is that the plastic mount behind the chrome lights is the same size. A large flat circular mounting boss. Hard to disguise or change the shape. Not Impossible, especially for many builders on this board, but not easy either. There is a Huge Ejector Pin mark in the center of each headlight lens too. You can see it in the box art. Fixing that would be a Must. I like your other idea. New tires, and some 5 spoke Mags, would help to change the look. I think the rear is mostly stock-ish, and the overlay seen in the Superfly, is not in the Sweathogs kit. I think that de-chroming the lights and molding them into the car might help, and possibly painting the Grille and leaving only the Bumper and Grille Shell, chrome might tone things down somewhat to. Lastly, I might just Whack off the top and make it into a Convertible or a roadster. It might look sharp as a Roadster!
  12. That is just Awesome! That was my son's favorite movie for many years. He picked it to watch on his Birthday for 6 years in a row. Thanks for bringing back good memories.
  13. Anybody have any idea of the Differences between the Monkeemobile & the Fonz's Dream Rod? Other than the Figure of Course. I've never had the kit, so I have no Idea.
  14. I wonder if this build could have inspired Round2 in their decal choice for the new Pinto kit. Probably Not, as Round2 is doing a lot of USPS related kits, but it would be nice to think this build helped move the needle.
  15. And speaking of rumors, can we get this Tow Truck back, please? (Without the Cooter Markings) https://public.fotki.com/drasticplasticsmcc/mkiba-build-under-c/mpc-instructions/tv--movie/mpc-cooters-tow-truck/ Or even better, this 1970 Version with the Full Fire Truck parts and the Fire/NHRA/ & U.S. Navy decals? https://public.fotki.com/drasticplasticsmcc/mkiba-build-under-c/mpc-instructions/automotive-cars--pi/chevrolet/1961-1970/mpc-1970-chevy-pickup/?view=roll#1
  16. George P. Looking at the M.I. Kit instructions, it is the '69 Cornet Convertible with a T-bird style 2 seat tonneau cover and scoops. Otherwise it looks like the '68 Kit in many ways. Same trailer hitch, ect. The is a different (custom?) grille and some roll bars, but not much in the way of other options that I can see. It looks (to me anyways) like MPC tooled up a scant few pieces and added the them to the '69 Cornet kit, without regard for what the TV Car looked like. The Tonneau cover is the biggest visual change, followed by a hood scoop and two side scoops. So, I'd think that if the parts still exist, an. M. I. Car might be easy to make. If the Tonneau and scoops do not exist any more, it might not be worth it to clone them. Getting Licenses might be the biggest sticking point now to selling with the M.I. branding. https://public.fotki.com/drasticplasticsmcc/mkiba-build-under-c/mpc-instructions/tv--movie/mpc-1969-coronet-co/?view=roll#1
  17. John, some of the Revell '57 Chevies, will have an extra set of 6-lug Black Widow wheels in them. Best bet is try try to scrounge them from that kit.
  18. Aw, Steve. That is truly an awesome kit, for a "One Version Only Kit". Bring it on, I sez! Throw in the Sweathogs figures, (but don't show them on the box art, and add any other extra Pontiac parts that might be hiding on the sprues. It would have to be better than the recent Californian Toronado kit. That didn't even get a set of optional wheels. At least Round2 could throw in a set of those ubiquitous 5 spoke Mags that are in every 5th kit lately. NO, I'd far prefer the Superfly to the Californian.
  19. Nice to see that the Furor over this kit has died down some. It appears to be sold out almost everywhere, and the ones that got purchased appear to to have moved onto a lot of workbenches. I am holding out for one of the Second Run of the Gasser kits.
  20. I wonder what else besides the decals, Round2 will add to this kit. Because, frankly, the decals will not sell myself and many other modelers this kit without adding something else to sweeten the deal. It is not that great a kit, and at the new MSRP of north of $30.00 it does not look to be a good choice to purchase. Time will tell I guess, but I am guessing that rabid Coke Fans, far out number Rabid USPS Fans. But, I could be wrong......
  21. Boy, I hope to see you proven correct someday, Dave. I'd really like to see that kit come back.
  22. Wow! Hard to believe that much time has passed.
  23. I am sorry. Losing a pet is always a blow. Fmeep looks like a keeper.
