  1. Kinda OT. Truck driver that I worked with back in 2005, had an odd little S-10. It was about 5yrs old when I met him. It was the most horrible shade of Baby Sh** Brown, and was a 2Wd Crew Cab. He told me that he had bought it in 2001 (it was a 1999 Model) It had been special ordered as a Fleet Vehicle. The companie that bought it, paid a deposit to have it built and then went bankrupt. Due to the UN-attractive colour, and the strange mix of options, (basically manual everything, but Power Door Locks and A/C, and a stick shift), it had never sold. It just kept getting pushed further and further back on the lot. The Fleet Manager had been fired about 6 months after the truck had been delivered, and in the ensuing chaos, it just 'disappeared'. He found it a the back of the lot when he went to trade in his 1988 S-10. After the salesman tracked down the paperwork for the truck, my freind bought the poor thing for $100.00 over the 2 year old invoice. Dealer even put 4 new tires on it, and replaced the battery. According to my freind it had been the best truck he'd ever had, and he vowed never to sell it. Back to the Coke Van. I've resisted buying any of the AMT Vans, but this one and the Chevy Police Van are looking better and better. Wonder how the Ford would look in NYPD Markings? And, are there Ford Steelies in the Phantom Van? (Edit--Nope! Just some factory wheel covers, that are different than the Cruisin' Van Covers in the Coke Van Kit) https://www.cybermodeler.com/hobby/kits/amt/kit_amt_0767.shtml
  2. I agree with you, Rusty, but that idea will sadly never happen. These kits could never be sold 'retail' in that condition, and there aren't enough of us "In-the-Know" types to makes the numbers needed to produce even partial, "Finish-it-Yourself" kits, economically feasible. But Boy do I wish we could somehow make it happen!!
  3. You are most likely correct, Chris. But, that boxart will sell a bunch of kits. (Including me!)
  4. It just hit me. You could use either a two piece polystyrene tire, or the stacked multi-piece tires used by some Eastern European kits.
  5. Yeah, Mark, after drilling down into the instruction sheets over at the Drastic Plastic website, I found my error. The Sneak Peak photos at the top of this post, all appear to be ex-MPC tooling. At least there will be an abundance of Vegas over the next 12-18 months!
  6. Well, after looking at the Box Bottom shown by Chad in the November Round2 Video, We can see that the Vega Wagon kit, has the Full Tube Frame, not the boogered up plate from the more stock like kits. Here is a copy of the instructions from the last time it was out (1976 or 77)? https://public.fotki.com/drasticplasticsmcc/mkiba-build-under-c/amt-instructions/straightline-competition/amt-vega-van-funny-car/?view=roll#1 It will make a great Drag Car, but my Pro-Mod Street Beast Idea is dead, until some other Vega kits come out.
  7. Lets see?
  8. I normally do not care for the oversized wheels. They look Just Right on your Chebbie! Great Colour too! Sharp Build.
  9. No, Vince, he was not Lying!! He may have been politely deflecting the Question. He may have been repeating what he was told by others. He may have just made it up on the fly. Neither you nor I know, we were not there. But assuming the worst from company reps, who are just trying to help, is a great way to get the whole community a bad name. Why not just take the exchange at face value, and not sweat the details. One Lic or Five. Does it really Matter? None of this will get the kit here any faster. (sigh)
  10. When I get my Vega kit, my intention, is to try to cobble up a Street Stock, or Streetable Pro-Mod type car. Like the kind I see at Famoso every year.
  11. I see no discrepancy here. It might be that Revell and Round2 (AMT) are all the license holders GM wants at this time. They may not want to hassle with another deal, no matter what the product. And, it is equally possible that other, than 2 or 3 people at Moebuis, nobody else knows what the true story is. My attitude towards more and more Model Kit news, is "It'll get here when it gets here". And not One Day sooner. Even though I am on record as being ready for the new Revell Land Rover LWB kit to be here Tomorrow, I can only wait like everybody else. Revell will not be sending me one because I want it more than everybody else. Same with all new kits. I can only support Round2, Revell, Moebuis, ect, with my wallet, when the kits are for sale. Until then, I just have to wait.
  12. I really like the '32! Great Choice of colour.
  13. Thanks Richard. I never trust Scalemates, but that sounds about right.
  14. So, which came first, the Digger Trike or the Tom Daniels T-rantula?
  15. Just wait. There are still several weeks of Fire Season to go.
  16. Well, Mike, my choice of kits was just off the top of my head. I should have picked different examples, perhaps. My point, was mostly that we hobbyists are told constantly we we ask for this kit or that kit to be revived, "that tooling dollars and effort are extremely limited and must be rationed due to their scarcity". So, what ever it is that is mentioned, the fallback, is "That will never generate enough interest/Sell in large enough quantities, to justify the effort". So, when mentioning ANY older tool, that a group seems interested in, the shutdown from some folks is always "Scare Tooling Dollars/ only so much time for new projects, ect". Now, I have no doubt that this is all very true. Round2 is now a smaller Company that the old AMT was. Resources ARE indeed very limited. There ARE many more potential projects than time & money to devote to them. That is what makes this kit so puzzling to me. Due to the price vs content ratio alone, it seems like a poor choice. Round2 lately has been all about "value-added" items in many kits lately. Witness the Go-Cart in the '60 Chevy and small trail bikes in the '86 Elky and '77 Dodge Pickup. The bare starkness of this kit surprises me. No Trailer, no extras, no Add-Ins. Just one, not-very big Trike, and some fancy decals. All for a suggested retail just under $30.00. All this talk about "Scarce Resources" and we get THIS? I'd have thought that those "Scarce Tooling Dollars" would produce a bigger profit if spent on a different subject matter. But, I'm not an expert, and my knowledge of this business is imperfect at best.. I do know, if I had been making choices of subject matter for Round2, they'd have been bankrupt in 2016. LOL
  17. This is a poor choice for Round2 IMHO. I'd really like to see the Business/Sales case for this kit over the '72 Chevy or GMC Pickup or the missing '32 Fords. (Coupe and Phaeton). As a stand alone kit, even with the HL 40% coupon, $19.74 for one smallish Trike is more than I'm willing to pay. Two Trikes in one box, would cause more interest, but even then, not a high value kit. At least For Me. For others, it might be a Home Run. I will be very curious to see how these kits shake out, by July 2020.
  18. I'll just drop this here. https://www.shopgoodwill.com/Item/78703562
  19. I see that Revell did not take the Easy way out on these tractors. Both the Front and Rear Tires are unique tools to each tractor. It will be interesting to see if Revell releases a third tractor that re-uses the tires from one of these two kits. And, those front tires are perfect for Rat Rods. I'll need at least two of the Duetz , just for the front wheels/tires.
  20. Nice........! Mouth looks especially well done.
  21. Sorry for the Double Post. And he is still around. http://magister-plasticum.com/product_info.php?products_id=35
  22. Is Magister Resin still around? I had his site bookmarked for these Monaco/Fury parts, bit it has disappeared. Anybody want to sell a st of the grill pieces?

  24. The Titanic. That 4th Funnel was a fake. In it's day, more Funnels equaled 'faster ship'. Hence 4 funnels when everything else had three.
  25. Guido, I'd not use the blower in the MPC/Round2 '67 kit. It is a blurry, soft, blob. I'd use the one out of the Revell '64 GTO.
