Any tips on scribing door lines across body filler? I sectioned the body on my 51 Ford custom. The cut wasn't really pretty and I had to glue some thin stock in places to hold the body filler in place. Now is the time to scribe the new door lines and I cannot get a decent line. The rear door line is no issue since it is straight and I can cut it with a razor saw, however the front line has just the slightest suggestion of a curve. My Trumpeter scribe rides just fine in the kit plastic, but as soon as I hit filler it jumps all over the place. I have started with the back edge of an ex-acto blade and it will work for the first two or three passes then it will also start wandering in the filler area. I have a mixture of the first layer of Bondo glazing & spot putty, once I got that sanded fairly smooth I applied a coat of Tamiya white putty. I filed a groove in the door line in order to remove all the scratches than I filled with Mr. Hobby "Mr. White Putty", still having problems keeping successive passes with the scriber in the same line. I have considered using tape as a guide, but since the door line curve is so subtle it is difficult to get tape to follow it. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Have to agree with the other comments, for a first attempt that came out very well. I think my problem with that type paint job would be having to continually think in a negative pattern while also working on the positive aspect. Anyway, the overall build is very well done, one very fine model.

Ollie's strike again

Stopped by my local Ollies yesterday. Found two Lambo Diablos, 4 snap-tite Space Shuttles, and one each of the snap-tite Mustang and Ford GT. Pretty much a bust. -
Yeah, but they do keep the bugs out of your teeth. That is one really nice looking Willys.

I also had trouble getting a smooth carpet with Elmer's. I switched to spray adhesive, it is used quite frequently by photographers to attach a finished print to backing board. One bit of advice, it goes everywhere so you will need to mask where you do not want flocking. It can be a bit messy, but I have good results with it so I will put up with the inconvenience. One other option is to paint the floor with a color very close to the flocking and use the wet paint as an adhesive source. Hope these ideas help.

What did you see on the road today?

I was driving so didn't get a picture, besides it was in the opposing land going the other direction. I will try to describe as best I can. Believe it to be some form of Toyota, not from this current decade. The paint is what caught my eye. Looked like the body had been chrome plated, then shot with candy green, it had yellow headlight buckets. Reminded me a whole lot of earlier hot wheels cars. IMHO it looked like the north end of a southbound goat. Edit: It was the same color as this. -

Excellent build of one of Ford's better looking trucks. Really like that body style. Overall sharp build and like your choice of body color. -
Is anyone printing the 10-speed automatic that comes in the later model F150's. Preferably with an attached or separate transfer case for 4X4.

Beautiful Grand Prix and I also love the blue dots, brings back fond memories from decades past. -
I think she may need more of that tp in a few seconds.

Mark, your work on these older NASCAR models and your attention to every detail is amazing to watch. Never been a Lorenzen fan but looking forward to this build coming together.

Two very nice MOPARs. -
One mighty fine looking super-stocker, love those door slammers. Also like the way you used $ for the SS designation, seems only fitting.

A Porsche funny car would definitely be a rich-man's game. Looking forward to the rebuild.

Good looking Ford. I am working on a full custom version.

Sweet little altered, some real fine modeling. You said you need traction bars, you may also want to consider some wheelie bars, otherwise you will be playing "dead-bug" after a hard launch.

OK, I will give that a try.

Over the past couple weeks I have been having trouble submitting replies to forum posts. When I hit "submit" nothing happens. Sometimes I can go back to another post, come back and it will submit but at other times it does not. When I do come back there is a black bar across the bottom of the post saying, "clear editor?" If I click on that one the message disappears. I am logged in, so that is not the problem. Any suggestions? Edit: It was a bit slow when I hit "submit" on this post.

What was your first model car?

A Christmas gift in 1959. I built it and took it apart several times. The next one was a 60 Mercury that I paid $1.39 for. After that one it is all a blur, I started receiving models for birthdays, Christmas and any other gift giving days. But mostly, I bought them with money I earned mowing my Grandma's yard.
