Very cool. let's go racing.

Very cool altered. These cars had very limited interiors anyway, so what you have is pretty much sufficient. I would suggest maybe adding a block-off panel dividing the interior from the trunk area.

This TBird is coming along very nicely. That is the problem with customizing, "maybe if I change this" or "would that look better if...". I am working on a 50 Ford convertible that seems to be nit-picking me to death. Just minor changes become paramount productions. If you haven't decided on the vinyl roof yet, a suggestion would be to apply a very light skim of putty to fill in the vinyl pattern; it would require much less sanding that trying to remove the vinyl pattern. I know you have probably caught it, but I noticed in one of you straight-on rear shots there were a couple of small divots above and below the break-line at the right taillight. Keep those updates coming, I need to inspiration to continue on my '50.

Beautiful build, looks fresh from the factory. Also like the way you photographed it, adds so much to the overall realism.

T2 Westfalia
TarheelRick replied to avidinha's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Indeed a very nice looking T2, I like that color combination (the one I owned was a med lt blue). I missed that, could you explain or post a link please. Thanks. -
AMT T148 1941 Plymouth Four Passenger Coupe model kit Condition: NewNew Price: US $50.00 Buy It Now Add to cart Add to watchlist Fast and reliable. Ships from United States. Shipping: US $7.50 Expedited Shipping. Probably should be in the "EBay section", but I got a real laugh out of this one. 41 Plymouth kits are like NASCAR kits you can't get rid of them.

It's got to be all in the wife's genetics.

Foose Pickup!
TarheelRick replied to Tom Geiger's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Definitely a Li'l Hustler in a big sort of way. Very nice build and the rust along the tops of the fender is quite indicative of a 1:1. I owned two of these over the years, a '74 regular cab and a '78 King Cab really loved them. -
Well Pilgrim: Duke's truck
TarheelRick replied to GLMFAA1's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Good looking truck. Didn't know the "Duke" owned one, but of course that should have been obvious. You mentioned looking for Ranger logos. If you haven't found them, go to Dennis Carpenter website. You should be able to find what you are looking for, then you can download the logo and make your own decals of it. https://www.dennis-carpenter.com/ -
As the others have said that is some excellent modeling of a somewhat obscure subject. I do remember seeing pictures of race cars being transported on the backs of VW trucks, but if I remember correctly most of them were of the Formula Vee variety or the occasional VW drag car. To actually see an F1 like that is mind-blowing. Thanks for sharing this with us.

Do you also have 1:1 project cars?
TarheelRick replied to ctruss53's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Here in NC I am way beyond emissions testing and vehicle inspection requirements. Finding one of those could be quite an extensive and expensive search. -

I will probably stick with the current 4-cylinder until I can decide which way I want to go with it. This past weekend I spent two days at the dragstrip watching the SEGA gassers run, and thought, except for the age limit that Pinto would make a wicked SEGA gasser. But then that would defeat my purpose for buying it - gas mileage. -

This will become my low-key project as I go along with it. First need to get it running right and some bodywork fixed. I have a Pioneer DEH2000MP AM/FM CD player with four Pioneer TS-G4642R speakers to install this summer. Will probably keep the stock wheels and poverty caps unless something really interesting comes along. Have thought about trying to find a V-6 automatic to drop into it, but that is down the road a ways. Anyone know of a company that sells replacement body parts for Pintos? My gravel pan is missing. -
build quality of the AMT Dodge D50?
TarheelRick replied to MrMiles's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I bought one on the clearance aisle at WM for $19. My WM now, or at least last time I was there has only 7 or 8 41 Plymouth Coca-Cola kits and they have been marked $19 for at least 2 1/2 to 3 months. I asked one of the sales associates if they were ever going to mark them down further and he said they were waiting for corporate to give them the go-ahead. I may need to get back up there and see if they still have them, I just saw a really nice later model Plymouth coupe gas dragster and I believe with a little love that sow's ear could be made into a respectable gasser. -
Not much of an update just a show what the second coat of primer revealed, plus the beginnings of a rear rolled pan. Decided to go ahead and glue the custom half-top in place. It will likely be same as interior color since it has a very slight vinyl texture to it; it will be outlined in chrome.

Inspiration Build
TarheelRick replied to TarheelRick's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Got a whole lot of work to do and a very little time to get it done. I picked up a box of '53 F-100 parts at a show, included two cabs and enough parts to build a complete flip-nose kit. That began my thought process for the crew-cab. However, my F-150 is not a flip-nose, so I had to dig into my stash and pull out one of my kits. I will be primarily using the chassis from the Lindberg F-150 4X4 kit. Still up in the air on wheels and tires. I ordered a set of the Aoshima 20" Club Linea wheels/tires since they were pretty close to what I have on mine, but they came with the rubber band tires that are sloped to one side. I am looking at another set from an EBay 3D print seller from the Ukraine, just waiting his reply to a couple of questions. Also unsure about which motor to use; the one included in the Lindberg kit or one from a Revell 2016 Mustang GT. I will be moving the door post back as well as the door line. It is hard to tell but the gap between the cabs is filled with acrylic nail filler, difficult as hades to sand, but very strong. Am strongly considering a minor top chop just so I can lean the windshield back a fraction. In either case I will be very slightly enlarging the window openings. It is an ambitious build. Oh yeah - color - when I bought my camper top, ARES included a 4 or 5 oz bottle of matching paint. -
3D printed resin from DiOlex Production

Thanks for posting this link. I am looking for a certain set of wheels/tires and I believe I have found them there. Just waiting for confirmation of some information about the set. -
That is one beautiful little A-bone roadster, really like the color.

A journalist had been bugging the Air Base Wing Commander for months about letting him fly in the backseat of the latest jet fighter. Finally the commander relented. The journalist came to the base the day before his scheduled flight to get his preflight briefing, fitted for a flight suit, and introduction to his pilot. The journalist asked the pilot, "What should I eat for breakfast? Something light, a regular breakfast, or nothing at all?" The pilot responded, "I would suggest bananas." The journalist asked," Is that because the potassium will counteract some of the effects of the g-forces?" The pilot answered, "Nah, they just taste pretty much the same coming back up as they do going down."

That is me in the middle of my "granddaughters"; at least they call me Grandpa. They are our last year's fast-pitch softball team - broken nails or dirt in the face did not hamper any of these girls, they came to play softball. They got knocked out in the third round of state finals. (I'm the one in the back with a beard).
