  1. I also have an attraction to 56 Chevys and that wagon made me have some scurrilous thoughts. Also liked the blue 54-56 Merc with the 57 Chevy headlight buckets. Very nice pictures, thanks for sharing.
  2. Beautiful modified. Very nice work on that paint scheme.
  3. Anybody interested in a slightly used bottle of QSC stripper. Works really well on removing old paint. This original '63 Chevy was painted with what I presume to have been some type of paint available in the 60's. The QSC rolled it off with very little problems and only a few side-effects.
  4. Or fertilizing the field right next door to your house. That is a beautiful piece of work on the spreader and the whole diorama. Very believable weathering and "cargo".
  5. They will do that especially in warm weather or even cold - "Let's play freeze-out".
  6. That is one fine Gasser. Did you do the graphics or have them made? Either way they add a certain toughness to the build. I like it.
  7. I haven't been on a bus since before Thanksgiving but it seems there is one right behind the wheel hump and another about halfway between that one and the first window. The roof hatches are evenly spaced front to rear. Divide your roof into thirds and put a roof hatch at each division line ---*---*--- if that helps.
  8. Been following this build the whole way and am extremely impressed with your scratchbuilding abilities. This bus is turning out beautifully. One minor detail that I haven't noticed are emergency exits on a couple of the windows on each side and at least two exit hatches on the roof. Doesn't sound like much but we had a bus rollover a couple years ago and those emergency exits came in real handy to help get the kids out.
  9. I have been attempting to reduce my collection for the past couple of years. I attend most of the model shows and swap meets in the area, and by that I mean some that require me to either get a motel room or leave my house by 4:00 am. At the last show I attended one of the dealers came by my table and said, "I would like to buy you out, but I know I couldn't pay you what you would want." At least he is being honest and up front. At that last show I sold enough to cover the cost of the motel room and the table, however I did buy three more kits and raffle tickets which provided me with another kit that I won. One thought I have had is to talk to a local auctioneer that I know and see if maybe I could include a few 3or 4 model lots in some of his auctions. I know auctions work because over the past three weeks I have purchased at least a dozen kits, but they are destined to be used as bait at the next show. If anyone comes up with a solution to this problem, please let me know.
  10. Very nice build, looks like a true backyard racer. That front end seems to fit really well with the rest of the body. AMT/Round2 or whomever must have done some work on the molds.
  11. Beautiful big Mercury and those wheels look just right on it. Now if this is to be your Cannonball entry, I am not so sure it will be that inconspicuous out on the highway, after all it is a Pink Mercury.
  12. Check with Steve Kohler at http://www.resinrealm.net/ I have a 55 4 dr wagon from him, it looks really good but it is rather thick and will require some interior trimming. I just checked his site and all he is showing is a phantom 2 dr wagon for the 55 and no wagons for the 57. Contact Steve, he may have something laying around, he is a very nice fellow to work with. I am sending you a PM.
  13. Excellent build of one of the prettiest road racers ever built. Sure wish someone, maybe Tamiya or another quality company, would release a full detail 1/25 version of this beauty.
  14. Super nice Mustang, very convincing SOHC. I still am a big fan of the FORD Drag Team.
  15. I usually attend the CKM show in Clemmons and will be at the Fast Trax show in Statesville. I wanted to go to Salisbury but had some conflicting engagements and couldn't make it this year.
  16. Looks like it just rolled off the showroom floor, nice, clean build.
  17. That might work, especially if I use the first picture. The decal sheet is complete, although a bit crispy.
  18. Good looking Challenger, looks good in that color. What did you use on the interior for carpet?
  19. A couple of weeks ago I bid an 3 1/72 scale Douglas DC-3 aircraft Testors/Italeri. The details said (not quoting) 'Three model kits two sealed one missing some parts'. They arrived today and I got two sealed kits and one missing "some parts". Can anyone tell me just what parts might be missing? If I had not received the two sealed kits I would be livid. The picture the auction site posted was similar to the first picture except it was leaning against the two sealed kits. Oh, BTW the open kit had three bottles of Testors paint. I opened one and it looked ok, however I do not know exactly what color they are since there is no name on the label, just Testors Pla Enamel.
  20. I had a bid in on one of these along with another kit on an on-line auction but got outbid. It wasn't Ebay.
  21. Interesting tip. In the mid 60's those of us who could not afford glasspack mufflers, (almost $40 per set) would use '55 GMC truck mufflers ($5 each). They gave a nice deep rumble to even stock V-8s, but they did hang a bit lower and would often drag on speedbumps.
  22. I truly appreciate that video. I was there, but didn't get to look at the models as much as I wanted to. Seems every time I walked away from my sales table potential buyers would show up. Had a great time, looking forward to next year.
  23. Knee was bothering me pretty bad after standing for more than 8 hours at the MDA Model show in Roanoke. Filled up my Iceman with ice, sat back in the recliner and thoroughly enjoyed reading issue #218 from cover to cover. Now I have to wait for #219 to come out.
  24. You are doing some really nice work on this build, especially your 'engine' detail.
  25. Do you know how much dirt those ribs will collect over a couple of years? We had to wash our buses at the end of the school year. I used a power washer the first year and I sprayed for a long time while black dirt poured out from under those ribs. Anyway, you are definitely getting the look of a school bus. Keep the updates coming.
