I really don't want to divulge the project, until I have an opportunity to make sure it will work.

Unfortunately, that would not have the effect I am trying to get.

Revell's Chi Town Hustler Charger F/C builds from the 90s 1/25 scale
TarheelRick replied to Dang 10's topic in Drag Racing
Two very nice builds. I had the opportunity to watch the Chi-Town run at the 1975 Pro- Am race at Rockingham Dragstrip in NC. The only thing I really remember was the beautiful back-up girl with her really tight and short pants. -
Nice, clean build. That color is definitely an eye-catcher. Just noticed the rear panel has a very strong resemblance to the '67 Charger.

Actually I need some of the darkest blue sprue I can get, I want to stretch it to try a project I have in mind.
-
I know there are kits with green, orange, and red windshield/windows. Has one ever been kitted with blue windshields? If so I would appreciate if someone would send me a couple pieces of the sprue. I am going to attempt something on a custom build I have in the works.

Badger 105 Patroit needle
TarheelRick replied to dragstk's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Badger will repair any of their airbrushes at any time. I have two different Badgers, one I have had for more than 40 years. I dropped the new one and bent the tip of the needle. Badger told me to send it back and the repair would be free if it didn't require any parts. I sent both of them back, they did a thorough cleaning of the older one, and replaced the needle on the newer one, plus giving it a good cleaning, all at no charge other than shipping costs. They told me on the needle replacement that they had several surplus needles, and it wouldn't cost me anything to replace it. They are a stand-up company. -
Very nice build, love those BBF drag cars. Looks ready to rumble.

'57 Chevy Jalopy
TarheelRick replied to TonyK's topic in Other Racing: Road Racing, Salt Flat Racers
An excellent representation of home-grown racers. Very well done. -
Couple of beautiful models of real race cars. Those drivers had plenty of brass in their Hanes.

That is one very well done Chevelle, and the color is almost a perfect match to Marina Blue. I have this kit in my stash, it was one of the two first kits I bought back in the mid '90s when I got back into building models. It is still in the box, waiting its turn.
-
Look at all that room around that engine, brings back many memories of my 56 Chevy and 65 Chevelles. Looking forward to this build, going to be fun to watch. I have one or two MOPAR leaning towers of power, this build gives me an idea how to use them.

The Beast - Tank-truck
TarheelRick replied to Nosferatu's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Excellent concept and build. Bet that 2X4 SOHC will spin those tracks with no problem. One mighty fine, clean build. -
I just set up a rebuilt computer to replace an all-in-one that was giving me some problems. The problem with this one is when I click on 'page 2' the page opens at the bottom rather than going to the top of the page. It will also occasionally open in the middle of a topic. Anyone else experiencing this or do I have a possessed computer - actually they are all possessed to a certain degree.

Didn’t really know where to post this.(Barrett Jackson)
TarheelRick replied to NYLIBUD's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
Same topic, different subject. Was watching an auction the other day and a bait-casting fishing reel went for $11K. It had some fancy name and I believe it may have belonged to a big-name fisherman, but that is a lot of catfish. In another auction Marvel comic #15 that introduced Peter Parker as Spiderman went for $19K. I guess if you are a collector and have unlimited funds, then all is well. For me personally I do auctions like I do gambling, set a limit and stick with it. -
“Gas Chamber” Gasser/Funnycar kind of thing…
TarheelRick replied to Mad Slammer's topic in Drag Racing
Excellent build and very original concept. Might want to add an "s" to your class designation since your engine is supercharged. -
Stopped by the local HL yesterday for the first time in a while. Mostly the same kits from last time, no 442's but did have the '37 Ford pickup and the '34 Ford Pickup wrecker version (may not be a new kit but has a dark blue truck for the box art).

Jay Leno in motorcycle accident...
TarheelRick replied to BlackSheep214's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
That was probably the reason for cancellation. Any more the shows are not worth wasting my energy to push the "on" remote button. Way too many fake reality shows or political innuendo/indoctrination shows. -
Thoroughly satisfied with my 2022 5.0 F-150, except for the horrendous gas-milage when I am pulling my utility trailer or my boat. 12-13 mpg really sucks the wallet dry.

Broken P-51 Mustang
TarheelRick replied to Tcoat's topic in All The Rest: Motorcycles, Aviation, Military, Sci-Fi, Figures
That is some mighty fine looking wreckage work. Thoroughly enjoyed watching it come together (so to speak). Several years ago I saw a 1/32 RF-4C model that someone had opened the radome and detailed it out, but that was not as impressive as your work with this model. Looking forward to the finished model/diorama. -
I have this kit and was thinking of doing the same thing or make a NASCAR racer out of it. Looking at how high that front roll pan is I may go more toward NASCAR. Customs during that period sometimes used some outrageously long furry material in the interior, more extravagant than the shag carpeting used in '70-80's vans

Atlantis kits?
TarheelRick replied to Sidney Schwartz's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Except for the oversize Dagmar's, every time I look at this car, I see a '58 Chevy. I have one that I have been trying to decide whether I want to attempt to build it or to scavenge for parts. I have a custom on the table now that would look really good with those wheels and tires, and those rear fins and headlights just scream to be transplanted onto something else: a '51 or '55 Chevy custom maybe. I already have plans for the stately dressed couple in this kit.
