  1. I truly appreciate that video. I was there, but didn't get to look at the models as much as I wanted to. Seems every time I walked away from my sales table potential buyers would show up. Had a great time, looking forward to next year.
  2. Knee was bothering me pretty bad after standing for more than 8 hours at the MDA Model show in Roanoke. Filled up my Iceman with ice, sat back in the recliner and thoroughly enjoyed reading issue #218 from cover to cover. Now I have to wait for #219 to come out.
  3. You are doing some really nice work on this build, especially your 'engine' detail.
  4. Do you know how much dirt those ribs will collect over a couple of years? We had to wash our buses at the end of the school year. I used a power washer the first year and I sprayed for a long time while black dirt poured out from under those ribs. Anyway, you are definitely getting the look of a school bus. Keep the updates coming.
  5. Very nice looking and creative little coupe. Looking forward to updates.
  6. Several years back I came in possession of several (hundreds) of sheets of newsprint, they are about 2X3 feet. My spray booth is a home-built unit made of plywood. I simply thumbtack a couple sheets of the newsprint inside to cover the walls and floor, run some blue tape down the center overlap and use that until it needs changing, then do it again. If you were to go to a newspaper publisher close to where you live, they may have off-cuts they would be willing to give you or sell for a minimum charge.
  7. Had my last physical therapy appointment today following my knee replacement last November 29th. Therapist told me there is nothing else they can do. Still have some swelling in the joint and difficulty walking with a correct gait. Have appointment with surgeon next Thursday and will see what his recommendations are. Therapists have mentioned possible edema therapy, maybe having to do some scar tissue removal. Whatever it takes doesn't sound like a lot of fun and is going to seriously affect my gardening and fishing time this spring.
  8. Another suggestion would be to use the engine out of the Revell (?) Ferguson tractor, if you can find one.
  9. Really nice Chevy truck. you did it justice.
  10. Wonder if those would be available at Sally's Beauty Supply or an equivalent?
  11. An outstanding use of leftover parts and some excellent modeling.
  12. That is some beautiful work. It just looks so wicked. Might be concerned about ingesting a 'possum into that procharger though.
  13. At least you didn't pull a U-Haul trailer with it. I've always heard, "You can't take it with you, you don't see a U-Haul trailer behind the hearse."
  14. I have removed the outside taillight bulges in order to smooth the sides. My original idea was to make a long, narrow taillight but was having trouble getting my material to cooperate. I found a bag of small adhesive gemstones at Hobby Lobby that will work better and will carry the dual headlight theme to the taillights. This is going to be the area which really tests my patience with filling, sanding, etc.
  15. Since this is going to represent a late 50's-early 60's custom the hood has to be pancaked and nosed. So, I have taken care of that. Had some issues with the hood hinge. Normally on a set-up like this you would simply glue a piece of tubing across the hood, install some wire and bend it. But, since the '50 Ford has a peaked hood I had to use two small pieces of tubing on each side of the opening and bend hinges to fit, they didn't come out quite like I wanted.
  16. Once I had the headlight section attached, I realized the body sides were too wide., so out came the masking tape and XActo saw. Took about three scale inches out of it.
  17. Guess I'll throw my hat into the ring. This is a design idea I have had in mind since before I sold off my original collection in 1984. Just never could get the parts together back then, but with the help of forum members I can now realize my idea. I started with two 50' Ford convertible bodies, sliced the nose off one and the fun began.
  18. Those are some serious air dams/splitters.
  19. Beautiful build, very nice choice of colors. The stance is just right, not too low.
  20. Going to be one beautiful gasser when you get it finished. Hope you have a driveshaft loop somewhere on your workbench.
  21. A Volvo powered Ford pickup would make sense, much beter than a Chevrolet engine. Really like what you are doing with this one.
  22. Kind of lost control at an on-line auction this morning and bought these kits. Hope I wasn't bidding against one of our members.
  23. You are learning the best way possible, get in there and get your hands dirty.
  24. Got to agree with this statement, once you start scratchbuilding building box stock very seldom happens. You are doing some really nice work with that chassis, looking forward to updates.
