Seven months. Won a couple of kits on eBay, and they appear to have been lost in shipping. They made it to the Global Delivery Center, then...poof. I've resigned myself to the fact that they aren't coming, and eBay have been no help. Because they were shown as delivered to the Global Delivery Center, they say it was delivered. And credit card sided with ebay. Ah well. At least wasn't a ton of $$$.

Estate Planning - all those models in the basement
iamsuperdan replied to <profile removed>'s topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
After losing my dad earlier this year, and seeing what my mum and I will have to deal with when we organize his hobby room this summer, it really puts things in to perspective. He has a room full of his hobbies. And besides the piles of camera equipment and CDs and DVDs, and diecast...he has stash of airplane and ship models, unstarted and started, supplies, etc. And now when we go through that room, we'll be digging up memories and feelings too. It's going to be such a challenge to go through that room. Pretty sure my mum will leave it up to me, and it's going to be tough. Definitely makes me think about my stash and my hobbies, and what my wife and kids would have to do with these when I go. Been giving serious thought to streamlining the stash. -
2006 Cadillac Escalade

I like that Revell thought to include interior panels that cover the pillars. I don't know that I've seen B, C, and D pillars on a kit before. Colour me impressed! -

Resin grille conversion? Love it! So much nicer than the kit version. -

Interesting. I will wait to see your finished trailer before I pass judgement. Could be cool when done.

Looking at these latest pics, I'm not sure you could make this any more accurate. So impressed with your work here.

Got some bench time in yesterday. First time in about a month. Anyway, this was the playlist last night. -

Favorite Obscure or Discovered Music Album
iamsuperdan replied to afx's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
Well, it's not obscure or recently discovered, but the new Rammstein album was released today. I know what I'll be listening to all weekend. -
Role model for angry felines? Role model for everyone who just stopped caring about what others think. The Grumpy Cat Christmas movie was actually pretty fantastic. Everyone should see it. Go buy it on Amazon, it's like $7. I mean, it's a horrible story, and the production is bad, but that's the charm. It always cracks me up, and is now standard seasonal viewing.

Chinese tariff war and models
iamsuperdan replied to GLMFAA1's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
True, but the Japanese manufacturers usually have a completely different subject matter than the US based companies. For those who love American muscle or old hot rods, kits from abroad are not an option. -
Water cooled Porsche 911 engines?
iamsuperdan replied to djflyer's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I don't believe I've seen a full engine in a 996. I've built the Tamiya 996 Carrera and it definitely wasn't full detail. I have a handful of others, and as they're variations of the same kit, I would say it's the same story. At the end of the day though, there's not much to see! And what you can see isn't attractive! -
I am SO ready to throw money at you when you start offering a resin kit!

I care more about 80s Camaros than I do about 60s Camaros. It's the generation I grew up with. I read about fires and destruction of cars from the 50s and 60s, and for the most part don't really care.

Ugh. Another month of no progress. New puppy, house renos, and some other stuff have severely impacted bench time. Back at it soon. I hope! -
I'd be all over a Lotus Cortina kit.

You obviously missed the dozen or so personal attacks that were removed. Don't worry, your posts were not the issue. Carry on. -

What Did You Get Today? (Not Model Related)
iamsuperdan replied to LOBBS's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
Definitely not model related. So this is Luna, our new 4 month old Husky X rescue. She came home Friday night. Enjoys rides in the truck, sleeps through the night, loves her crate, and is 100% house trained. -
Chevy c1500
iamsuperdan replied to Jared Roach's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Excellent build! This has always been my fav generation of truck, from any manufacturer. My one complaint with the kits though, and this is in no way a criticism of your build, is the front grille. The molded one piece grille just never looks as realistic as the rest of the truck. Even ones finished as well as yours. I wonder if there's an aftermarket solution? Hmm... -
Cats like boxes. Even big ones.
iamsuperdan replied to Ace-Garageguy's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
My sis and her hubby have four black cats. And they are 100% the stereotype. Especially when it comes to pizza boxes. -
Highway thru Hell
iamsuperdan replied to dieseldawg142's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I'm willing to bet that's exactly what's going on. Mack either gave him a truck to use, or they gave him a smoking deal on a truck. Of course, Jamie will justify it by saying the he can't operate without a modern heavy wrecker; that the vintage stuff just won't handle the big wrecks, so he needed this one to keep up. Which I would think is totally true. Good looking truck. Wonder who gets to operate the new flagship? -
