Thanks for the tip! I've successfully worked with a warped frame on another Kenworth kit, so fingers crossed when I get around to this one, it's not that bad!

Respectfully disagree. I've owned several VW over the years, my sis has owned a few, and they cost no more than any of the other vehicles that have been in the family. You just have to know what to watch for. Avoid all VW auto transmissions until about 1998. And do the regular maintenance on the VR6, otherwise that will get costly. Other than those, servicing was never an issue. Our 2002 Chev Tahoe required more servicing than any one of my VWs, nothing crazy, but it did need more. And my last Ford truck easily had more issues in 6 months than all 6 of my VWs combined.

Not all hope is lost. Look at the available colours for the new Volkswagen Golf R. There are 35 different colours available. Yes, there are greys and silvers, but at least half, if not more are wild colours. Viper Green, Raspberry Red, Jazz Blue, Cliff Green, 91 Blue, Sarantos Turquoise, Traffic Purple, TNT Orange, Magma Orange, Curry Yellow, Ginster Yellow, Tehcno Blue, Violet Touch. It goes on. Too bad very few will ever order those.

Yeah, as a mod, I can see the "deleted" threads. No matter how well intentioned you may be, or how you try to keep politics out of it, you simply cannot have a thread about a world leader without it getting heated. Especially if that thread is about you know who. Someone will eventually post something, and someone will counter, and pretty soon, it's a complete cluster, people are angry, we've locked/deleted a thread, and then people will gripe about that. There's just no way.

A local antique mall had their annual parking lot event yesterday. Lots of vendors, selling their junk outside, and all are willing to haggle a little. Like the guy who had a pile of kits! I grabbed these two for cheap. The Canepa Kenworth is box open bags sealed, the Impala SS is factory sealed.

Haven't heard from Ace Garage Guy for awhile

You know what they say about assumptions? You're on the right train of thought there. I'm sure Bill is just fine right now, and will probably be back soon. -

I got a little scared when I first read the thread title. My first thought? "Oh snap, they're remaking Bullitt!" And I already found myself getting annoyed. A 50th anniversary reissue though? I can get behind that. Although...Blu-ray and my couch will be more comfortable. -

Probably could have met up with you in Jasper! We head out there every other weekend or so. -

2019 GMC Sierra ( UGLY Truck)
iamsuperdan replied to ranma's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Not really. We've had these trucks in our fleet for about 3 months now. We have clients who already have over 20,000km on their 3 month old trucks. A brand new, clean sheet design, doing around 7000km per month, and not one issue or complaint? I think that says a lot. Especially when considering that I've had two Fords over the past three years, and each had warranty issues in less than 3000km; two of which involved getting towed. Features. Can't really argue about that. If somone wants a loaded truck with things not seen on any other, Ram leads the way right now. At least until the new GM gets here, then it will get interesting. And you're right. All three brands say the exact same thing. They all have the best fuel economy, the most power, the best towing, the longest life, the most vehicles on the road after 10 years, etc, etc. I base my comments on my own experience. My company has a fleet of over 13,000 vehicles, the bulk of which are doeemstic trucks. I see exactly what we pay for maintenance and fuel, and I know exactly how many issues we have with warranty. I can see exactly what these things will carry and tow in the real world, not in a manufacturer's test. And I see how these things stand up over time. No kidding. I already have clients asking about lift kits and flares, and their trucks are still on order, not arriving until late this year. So many bro-dozers around here. No accounting for taste, that's for sure. I'll give you this one. When distilled down as in your image, there's a resemblence. However, when you see them parked side by side, and can see how the curves and edges and shapes interact, the similarities disappear. -
2019 GMC Sierra ( UGLY Truck)
iamsuperdan replied to ranma's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
It's no goofier than Ford's stepgate/handle setup. In either case, an overly complicated and expensive solution for a problem no one knew they had. At least on half tons anyway. -

I still don't see a resemblence. -

Wait, did I just post two pics of the same truck? Sorry, I don't see a resemblance here at all. I do not work for any one manufacturer. If someone wants to lease something from me, then I get it for them. I have my favourites, but no one makes a bad vehicle these days. -
Here's the song I'm listening to right now... The problem was She had a little black book And my name was written on every page Well a girl's got to make ends meet ... I was out of place and time And over the hill And out of my mind

2019 GMC Sierra ( UGLY Truck)
iamsuperdan replied to ranma's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Wait until you see them in person. The GMC looks quite good when you can actually touch it and get a sense of the lines and whatnot. The Chev is awkward on some trim levels, and great on others. I have a Silverad o1500 LT Trail Boss on order right now for myself. Some amazing features though on both trucks, and they drive beautifully. Ford is going to have to do a ridiculous amount of catch up in order to just match what GM and Ram have come up with for 2019. In fact, I would bet that they are tweaking the timelines for the F150, in terms of refreshes and eventual resdesign. Of course, none of that matters, because the fans of each brand will defend their brand to the death and will justify all flaws, even when they defy all logic and common sense. And those same brand fans will deride everything about the other brands, and will cut down evn the most innovative of features, even when their criticisms make no sense. And it still won;t matter, as all three brands will continue to sell a ton of trucks and remain at the top of domestic sales charts for years to come. And in my professional opinion, the 2019 Ram 1500 is the truck to beat, in terms of features, fuel economy, how it drives, looks, and reliability. . -
I like it! The no-chrome look suits it.
-
Exactly! This thing is built on a half ton chassis. Which means those wheels are half ton rated. And I'd be willing to bet the conversion exceeds the GVWR for that rating for that truck.

Empty bench, feels strange

Empty bench. Is that even a thing?
