  1. The cost of the trucks definitely goes up. The Freightliner M2 is about $20k CDN more for the 4X4 option. But I would think in Canada, that would be a no-brainer. In the big heavy wreckers, espcially in trucks like a rotator, or Al QUiring's tri-drive Kenworth, it's just not available, but in the smaller units?
  2. Honestly....I've always felt the same way!
  3. Question. What did you use for the flooring?
  4. I really like this one. Full disclosure, I'll be stealing many of your ideas. lolz
  5. Wow. I don't think you could get much closer than that! Vaping tech makes sense. Heck, one could probably "flavour" it with something that smells like a steam engine.
  6. So this arrived yesterday. 2019 Ram 1500 Limited. Diamond black. All options, except for the RamBox. Did a 3M stoneguard on the front end, ceramic paint protection, and a Bakflip tonneau cover. The eTorque system is still not on ground yet, so come January I may swap this one out for a truck with that. Looking forward to driving this one. Just trying to figure out what direction I'm going for winter wheels/tires. Because this is what it looks like this morning.
  7. That sounds so metal! Doesn't ring a bell. Hmm..
  8. That layout was probably my favourite of the show. So many little easter eggs like that. It's the kind of layout I would end up doing if I was going to do it. I'd go for realism, but I'd be adding all kinds of goofy and fun stuff.
  9. The detailing is amazing. So much respect for guys that can do this. The only thing these layouts are missing is the accurate steam from the engines. But I have no idea how one could recreate that.
  10. Hiring is one of those love/hate parts of my job. I'm not a huge fan of how time consuming it can be, but htat's just a neccessity of the job. Have to make sure I'm hiring the right person. The amusing part is when I start going through and shortlisting resumes. I've had resumes that are literally less than 10 words. Name, phone number, and then "Work History - employed." And that's it. Had another with something odd. I've seen many resumes that have a little thumbnail headshot next to the person's name. No problem. Received one, and the first page was a full sized 8X10 headshot. I'm starting the process again now, as I need to hire another account manager. Looking forward to some humour.
  11. Wow. Just wow. The realism and the detailing could be some of the best I've seen here. Very, very impressive.
  12. Episode 2 last night. Without giving anything away, I wonder why they don't build more wreckers on 4X4 chassis. Maybe a Freightliner M2 or a Peterbilt 348?
  13. Interesting article about Ferrari in today's paper. It goes in to detail on the Monza SP1 pictured above. It also discusses the big plan over at Ferrari. Fifteen new models over the next five years. Including...that's right, an SUV and a sedan. And if anyone can build a good looking SUV and a good looking sedan, it will be Ferrari. I just wish they'd bring back a manual transmission.
  14. If I had the space, I'd be very into doing a layout. As it stands, even a tiny N scale layout would be too much. When I was in to slot cars, I thought about doing a model train style layour for a slot car track. And there are enough 1/32 scale kits that it would be easy for scenery and static cars in the layout. But again, imagine the space needed to do it right! I've thought about G scale, as we have large backyard. But whenever I've brought it up, wifey gives me the look. Married guys, you know what I'm talking about. lolz So no garden trains. Yet. I've also thought it would be great to build a 1/24 replica of the Giger train.
  15. I love my hard rock and metal!
  16. I can appreciate both the humour filled layouts and the ultra-realistic layouts. I just don;t understand the crowd that bashes either. Do what you enjoy, and if others do it a different way, then so be it. Things out of scale bugs me, even with Hot WHeels when I was a kid. Those Hot Wheels Kenworths came in the same sized bubble card as the cars. But to openly chastize someone for it? Just no. Personally, if I was a train guy, I would go for realism, but would throw in humourous touches.
  17. Whatever do you mean? lolz Find me something smaller that can: fit my 6'6" body hold five adults comfortably plus any gear they may have can sometimes carry a drumkit, guitars and half stack amps can still tow a 30 foot travel trailer can venture offroad And I'll look at downsizing. In the meantime...
  18. Meh, there's plenty of space between him and the car next to him. It's not like he was parked so close that door dings were happening. Plus Vic still has his seatbelt on. Entirely possible he pulled in next to the already parked car so that he could stage his video.
  19. Attended a local model train show on Sunday. I'm not into trains, but my dad is, so we always go.I always hold out hope that someone will have something to do with models, but alas, I'm always disappointed. Something I noticed this year, is that a lot of the old school train guys were particularly grumpy when it came to some of the displays. It turns out that having fun with the hobby isn't appreciated by all. In looking at this display, which I was rather impressed with, I heard comments about how the cars weren't the same scale. How it was stupid to have a stormtrooper rapelling from a helicopter. How a Mario Kart was just dumb. How a Ford Anglia wouldn't be right in a North American scene (and it was Harry Potter's car too.) There were a group of guys who were thouroughly annoyed with this entire set up. And there was an entirely different guy who did not like this one. "Why the heck did he put those stupid robots in this scene?" I think people just take things too seriously sometimes. My only complaint was in the display from the Northern Alberta Lego Users Group. They didn't build this Galactica to scale with the Viper. lolz.
  20. Oh, the song is Hard Hearted Alice. Try this one. I'm teaching my boy to play this on the drums. WHich is amusing, as I don;t play drums, but I can accompany on guitar. Then it comes to be that the soothing light at the end of your tunnel Is just a freight train coming your way
  21. Wrong! I just saw Alice Cooper a few weeks ago. Have been a huge fan for literally decades now!
  22. I wish more people were ticketed for not adhering to the "keep right except to pass" law. Frustrating drive to work today. The guy two vehicles ahead of me decided to drive right next to the guy in the right lane. Stuck it at 95kmh and wasn't moving over. I think the guy directly in front of me was close to snapping and playing bumper cars. I think these slef appointed traffic cops are far more dnagerous than speeders. Ah well, I now have my tea, and my quiet office, and an hour before anyone gets here. So it's all good.
  23. New season is here! A lot of time spent on Jamie justifying his old trucks. I get it, cost savings and all that, but if the trucks slow him down to the point where he can;t properly do the job? Maybe he shouldn't be relying so much on old tech. I wonder if the producers are trying to position Colin to be the next big thing. Seems like they always portray him as this chipper happy dude. I'm sure he is, but they cut to him and his "Decent Jimmy" tagline at least four times. Anyway, it's back, and there's something new to watch on tv.
  24. Gassers are ridiculous. But for some reason i can't explain, I'm drawn to them and really dig them. Weird.
