Does the box come pre-rusted from the factory, like the real thing? I'll be picking one of thee up for sure. -

iamsuperdan replied to iamsuperdan's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Yeah, I'll bring this thing back out to the bench and give the wheels a little touch up. -
I normally don't give a hoot about Cobras, but that one is fantastic.

You have the engine details nailed! Looks great!

Is that the old Revell kit? I have one in the stash, but it's molded in black. Definitely not the Tamiya kit, which is on my bench right now. Looking forward to seeing what you do with it!

Pinninfarina Modulo Rebuild

I find this much more interesting than purchasing say an old Ferrari GTO for $25 million. If I had the funds, this is the kind of stuff I'd want to do. -

Homebuilt Guitar Appreciation thread

So the black Warlock I posted above, in a bench pic is slowly becoming a proper guitar. I'm actually building it for my daughter, using her design input. Here's a sneak peek. One repair step, and one with the new finish added. Yes, those are unicorns. Just wait until this one is done! -

That quilted top is a thing of pure beauty! Seems a shame to put a pickguard on it, but being a Strat, you kind of have to! Your boy is lucky! -
Exactly that! VW sponsored several big name tours back in the 90s. And each big tour got a special edition car. Some of those big tours and big festivals need that corporate sponsorship money! Touring is expensive, so why not? Monster Energy do a lot of tour sponsorship now. I saw Anthrax here a couple of months ago, and their tour bus is covered in Monster logos, their stage backdrops have Monster logos, andthey appeared to have a roadie whose sole purpose was to put Monster ENergy drinks on stage, with the labels facing the crowd. He actually adjusted the cans after the band members drank from them.

LAPD 1978 Plymouth Fury completed for now...
iamsuperdan replied to mrmike's topic in WIP: Model Cars
I love these big 70s boats! Growing up, we had a 77 Fury sedan, and a 78 Fury wagon. Would love to find a real one now. -
Paintwork looks perfect!

I think the headlights are a little awkward looking, but overall it's a good looking truck. Would love to see a kit of this...or any other modern truck. Need more new trucks!

Exactly! i've been to other museums with big elaborate dioramas and pristine show quality cars, and they're interesting, but I like the more personal experience of wandering through here. It's about the cars. No fancy displays, just cars. And even if the car is cobbled together from two or three others, or isn't 100% accurate, I like that there's a story, and we learn what the story is. I was here a couple of years ago, and got to wander through the resotarion area. I'll see if I can track down those pics. It was great that I couls wander through the shop. No roped off areas, try not to trip over the tools please.

Respectfully disagree. FCA are positioning SRT as a separate entity. Find any Dodge branding on the last generations of Viper. SRT Durango, Charger, Challenger all have exactly one Dodge logo anywhere on them. And that's on the back of the vehicle. The SRT4 (Neon) had two Ram head logos. They have been slowly shrinking the Dodge or Jeep logos, and increasing SRT. Plus in FCA fleet meetings I've attended, they have discussed future plans, and have said that SRT is becoming its own entity. It won't be getting stand alone dealerships, but eventually, that will be the brand.

I think a couple of things led to their demise. First, Yoko. I think she definitely influenced John's thought process, and she was present at all of their final recording sessions, with John actively encouraging her to participate. Second, I think they were just burning out on each other. Six or seven very intense years, combined with changing ideas from the members. I think they just drifted. John getting into his activism. George becoming more in tune with his meditations and whatnot. Ringo discovering acting. Paul wanted to go in the Wings direction. I think they all just moved on and were in different places. Yoko was the "final straw." I read somewhere an article by some professional music person. Some professor or scholar. He said the average and perfect age of a band is about 7 years. Just enough time to form, getting attenion, become huge, then leave the scene, before they become irrelevant. The BEatles fit that idea perfectly. If they had stuck together and continued making music, or maybe had a lineup change, would they still have become the icons they became? I think not.

Big car, tiny interior. My company has leased out a few, and I literally cannot move the cars around out lot. HEadroom and legroom are virtually non-existant! The current Corvette (in CDN dollars) starts in the mid $60s, and goes to well over $100k for a loaded ZR1. You'll never find one on a dealer lot for less than $70k CDN. I'd be truly surprised if the mid-engined one retailed for less than $150k CDN when it finally arrives!

Chevrolet has been teasing a mid-engined Corvette for decades. The difference now though is that it is definitely happening. Going forward, GM are positioning Corvette almost liek a seperate brand, much like FCA has done with the SRT vehicles. We'll be seeing both the front engined and mid-engined Vettes. I would be fairly confident in saying that the first we really see of the new mid-engined car will be at LeMans. Much like Ford and Acura, and others before them, the first truly undisguised car will be racing at Lemans. I like the idea, but as a 6'6" person, I can tell you right now that I won't fit. Therefore, don't care. lolz. I also think GM should be paying a licensing fee to Ferrari for using their designs. The current Vette looks like the F12, and this mid-engine car looks a lot like the 488.

So if you're ever driving through Summerland, BC, you should take an hour or so and check out the Nixdorf Classic Car Museum. They have about 80 cars on display, ranging from the 30s to the 2000s, with the bulk of them being 50s and 60s. Little bit of everything. WHat I like about this museum is that every car has a story. It's not just a guy who went to an auction and bought a cool car to display. Each car has a sign that mentions where the car came from, a little history on the car, and a fun little factoid about the build. The cars will never win Pebble Beach Concours, but they are all beuatifully restored drivers. It's all private, owned by one family, and they decided to open a museum instead fo just parking the cars and hiding them away for their own pleasure. http://www.nixdorfclassiccars.com/ Here's some of the cars. My personal fav car there. I love these old Grand Nationals. This Cahrger was a very close second for me. Love it. I thought this was cool. 1953 Oldsmobile. I was very curious about the thing on the dash. Was quite shocked when I found out out what it was. Thought that kind of tech was a fairly recent thing. For sale. $10k CDN for all three.
