BRBO Mack R685ST
iamsuperdan replied to gotnitro?'s topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
100% agree. I love building trucks, but these AMT kits are frustrating. There's a lot of test fitting and mockups happening before anything gets glued, that's for sure. -

I have no idea. lolz. I had put out a wanted ad here asking for this style of sleeper, and this is what I traded for. Seeing as how the sleeper has it's own set of instructions, I think it might be. I didn't get any pics, but the engine is done now, and I've started getting the frame and underpinnings assembled. Painting will be a delay though, as I paint in my insulated but unheated garage. As of this morning, it was -27 degrees Celsius. THe warmest it's supposed to get this week is on Thursday, at -17 degrees. So for now, all of my paints are in a box in my basement until it warms up enough. -
Happy Valentines Day for Car Modelers!

As if I needed another excuse to get some more chocolate in the house! lolz Definitely remembering this though. -
So...you think you have a stash????
iamsuperdan replied to El Roberto's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
What got me thinking about how we'd move is a show on Nova all about the Kilauea eruption last year. And believe it or not, a show about a devastating volcanic eruption got me thinking about how nice living there would be. Then I started thinking about moving from Canada to Hawaii. Especially now that we were at -30 degrees Celsius (-22F) this morning, with -40 degree (-40F) windchill. I guess we'd just rent a Sea Can and load it up. -
So...you think you have a stash????
iamsuperdan replied to El Roberto's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I was actually thinking this the other night. The logistics of having to move my hobbies. Not only the model stash (admittedly, maybe a couple of hundred) but also my guitars. It's one thing to move down the street, but across country? Or what if we wanted to move overseas? I think we'll just stay here for a while! -
1967 VW Pritchenwagen
iamsuperdan replied to Antikainen's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
VW had never built a four wheel drive version of the original bus/transporter. However, they did have factory suspension lifts with aggressive tires, so this one is entirely feasible. No idea what that is in the bed, but it looks cool. I like this build a lot. Nicely done! -

Well, I'm already further ahead than I got on last year's BRBO! Got some initial assembly done on the engine last night. Also need to thank Lucas (trick my mixer) for supplying the sleeper I need. 10/10 would trade with him again. -
Much ado about nothing, my friend.

Umm...does everyone really think he's gone? Lolz. We haven't banned him, nor have we deleted any of his posts. Nor are we planning to. So like the last time he was warned for crossing the line, he'll go away for a bit, and then he'll be back. Probably. He has a lot of knowledge to share, and it's great when he does. Because even though he can be a little blunt, and a little too direct for some, he knows what he's talking about. But like everyone else, he needs to follow the rules. And just like everyone else, if he can't follow simple rules, then there are consequences. No one around here is above the rules.

Volvo FH4 Globetrotter XL. Must buy.

So many ESCI re-pops. I love it. LOVE IT! I've build the G-wagen, would totally get another. There's at least 8 or 9 kits there I would buy. Range Rover, the 944S2 Cabrio, BMW M1...finally, a company releasing stuff I can get behind!

Are we talking pure dreaming? Or dreams that would have a snowflake's chance of getting produced? For pure dreaming: 73-76 Ford Gran Torino wagon 77-78 Plymouth Fury wagon 77-79 Ford Thunderbird For something that is within the realm of possibility: A modern pickup. Something current. Modern SUVs. Like a 2015+ Chev Tahoe for example. Ram 5500 chassis cab. Imagine the build possibilities of offering a chassis cab kit, then multiple kits of potential bodies for them. Service bodies, decks, picker units, mini-tanks, cubevans, etc.

Truck/trailer compatibility
iamsuperdan replied to tbill's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Width is almost exact, but the height is visibly out. The more I look at the pics, the more it bugs me. lolz. I think I need to pick up some Italeri trailers. -

Fantastic finish on this! I dig the look. -
Truck/trailer compatibility
iamsuperdan replied to tbill's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I know it's not exactly what you're after, but here's the Italeri Volvo FH16 and the Moebius 53ft trailer. 1/24 tractor, 1/25 trailer. Slightly out of proportion, but not horrible. I don't have any of my Italeri American trucks built yet. So can't get that comparison going yet. -
Awesome job! Enjoy these moments while they last! My daughter is very slowly finishing a Jeep build with me. She literally hates watching paint dry, so isn't the biggest fan of building. I think she just likes the daddy/daughter time, which is fine by me. Although now we spend more time playing guitar. And although she's only 11, she keeps asking me about "her" truck out on the driveway. Kids, gotta love them!

I like your colour choices here! Everyone seems to build this car in silver with red leather. Which looks great, but this just looks different, and I like it.

Time For a Workbench Makeover!
iamsuperdan replied to 2002p51's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I like the paint can racks you have. That's my biggest peeve about my bench. I have no proper paint storage. Nice makeover! -
Otaki 1/12 Lamborghini Countach Twin Turbo...Mission Statement
iamsuperdan replied to Dann Tier's topic in WIP: Model Cars
I thought you were going for accurate? Your interior is way too good. I've seen the real thing, and yours appears to be built to tighter tolerances! Keep 'em coming. I love it!- 363 replies
