Artie was so good, that's why I'd love to see him back. But I think you're right. He's been gone a few years, a lot has happened both to him and the show, so I don't know that the dynamic would still be there. I always loved the Tracy/Grillo feud. These highlights are what I wish Howard 101 would play constantly.

The announcement will come on Tuesday, they're playing Coachella and then a couple of dozen other shows. If they come to western canada, I'll probably be buying tix, but I'll be disappointed. First, no Izzy. No explanation why, but he's not there. Neither is Gilby. Second, no Steven Adler, no Matt Sorum. Again, no explanation. So it's basically Axl, Slash, Duff, and some other guys no one cares about. To be honest, I'd rather see Slash featuring Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators again. That was an amazing show. So much better than the last time Axl and his GNR cover band came through town.

Do both! An apocalyptic gasser!

I love the show, but will be the first to admit some of the frat boy humour gets tiresome. Listen to some of his celebrity interviews though. He gets celebrities to open up like to other host anywhere. Even my wife, who traditionally has hated him without ever hearing him, digs some of the interviews. Or maybe she's just so blinded by Hugh Jackman that she is able to tune out Howard. Hmm..

What pleased me today? Everyone is in a fantastic mood, and my customers and vendors remembered me! Gifts o'plenty showing up. I re-gift most of it though. Gave the chocolates and the Hickory Farms stuff to some of my support staff. They get forgotten about sometimes when gifts arrive.

Guitars are my main hobby/passion. I've been playing since junior high in the late 80s. Had bands throughout high school and a few years after, had regional success too, opening for some of the old school thrash bands that came through the area. Bands like Atrophy, Sacred Reich, Wrathchild America. But tastes change, and into the mid/late-90s I had a new band that was a little more alternative (of course) than metal. I still jam with the guys from high school every now and then. My fingers aren;t as fast, but we can still knock out the old songs. Play the odd show here or there. The music I write now is definitely still metal, but there are some ambient and industrial influences in there now. And I tend to write a lot of mellower rock as well; kind of like Placebo. Anyway, besides playing, I also rebuild and hot rod guitars. I like finding wrecks on Ebay or Kijiji, then gutting them, stripping them, and rebuilding them. The surf green Fender Strat and the French Racing Blue Kramer in the above pic are two of my rebuilds. I've recently redone an Ibanez RG7321 for a friend (added carbon fibre wrap, reshaped neck, glow in the dark bits and pieces) and did a Fender Tele for a friend in the country music scene. My big loves though are BC Rich. I'm up to 8 of them now, mainly older models from the late 80s/early 90s. I also have three of those crazy Roland G707 synth guitars. Always loved the shape, and you would be shoked at how nice these are to play, and how great the tone is. My go-to guitar though, is hands down my Carvin DC800. Playing an 8-string opened up a huge world of opportunity. So much more range. Crazy comfortable.

Michael Schumacher in a coma after a ski accident
iamsuperdan replied to Quick GMC's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
Thanks. Haven't seen any reports on his condition in the past year or so. I really am surprised at just how private they've been able to be. If he was in the US, someone would have leaked something by now. Or written a book. -
Informal question re: Christmas gifts to one's self
iamsuperdan replied to Roadrunner's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
I usually celebrate the end of my Christmas shopping with a little something to myself. This year was a little bigger than usual. I picked up a new Line6 Firehawk for my guitar rig. Been pretty fantastic. -
Terrorist hotline is a funny bit that went on too long. I love it when his "parents" show up. I think a conversation between Richard's dad and Ben would be hilarious. Hmm, which wack packer won't last the next 5 yhears. Gary the Conqueror (that name still makes me giggle) might be gone. He has health issues, so unfortunately... Jeff The Bore/Drunk, I think he'll make it. High Pitch Eric will have a heart attack within 2 years. His reasoning behind his steamed chicken is fantastic. Also... I think Beetlejuice will not make it. Too many health issues.

Been listening to Howard for about 10 years, ever since he switched to satellite. Being up in the Great White North, we never got his radio show. So happy to see him re-sign, makes my morning commute a little happier. A few thoughts: 1. Tan mom needs to go away. That argument last week between tan mom and the lady-man she was supposed to fight hurt my brain. 2. Love the phoney phonecalls. Would love to see Richard & Sal get their own daily show on 101 3. More Riley Martin please. He cracks me up. 4. Wish Artie would come back, even though I know it will never happen. 5. I can't listen to a pop song now without mentally (or vocally) adding some Robin to it.

Music is my big hobby, so this topic has come up numerous times for me and my friends/bandmates. Currently, I think this combo would be interesting: Vocals - Chris Cornell Guitar - Zakk Wylde Bass - Robert Trujillo Drums - Mike Portnoy

Steel Haul - NEW Tractor unit UPDATE!!!!
iamsuperdan replied to tiking's topic in Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Wow. At first all the amazing weathering and scratchbuilding I'm seeing around here was discouraging. But now I'm seeing it all as more inspiring. Time to up my game. -
I love this kit and am amazed at your skills. I have never seen more realistic weathering.

Simply wow. Super impressed with how this one has turned out. -
Can you post a side by side pic of the finished kit wheels and the finished aftermarket wheels? Curious to see the difference.

For those who like this kind of thing, here's the box art. I have the colour laid down on the body. Sanded the mold lines on the front fenders and the rear bumper corners. Hit it with Tamiya white primer and Tamiya yellow spray. I've always had really good results from Tamiya sprays, so once the trim is painted and everything is wetsanded and polished, it should look pretty good.

This is going to be a very long and drawn out build, as I don't have the time to build that I wish I had! Anyway, go easy on me. A little background on me; I've been a VW/Porsche/Audi nut since elementry school, and spent almost 15 years working for Porsche, so you'll see a number of Porsche kits coming from me. I finally got around to starting a kit that I've had sitting around for years. This is Tamiya's Porsche 996 Carrera kit. Curbside, no engine detail. I decided to build this in Speed Yellow with the black interior, a somewhat uncommon colour combo around here. I've started by spraying the interior pieces in black. This is an automotive semi-gloss black, can confirm brand later. Then I masked, laid down the white glue, and flocked it. Turned out pretty good I think. I've since touched up the spot on the passenger door. Not too exciting yet, more pics to come as I get working on this.

I've had this kit for years and have never got around to starting it. Yours looks perfect!

So much nicer than the donk it once would have been. Interior looks great!

The weathering on this one is fantastic. I picked up the molded in white Canon version a couple of years ago, haven't started it yet. I kick myself, back in the late 80s on a trip to England, I bought the red version shown at a car boot sale. Slapped it together, it rolled off the shelf one too many times, and I tossed the whole things. I wish I hadn't done that. Would have been great to rebuild. I'm planning on building mine showroom stock. Although if I had weathering skills, yours would be an inspiration!

Hello from Edmonton, AB! Used to build a lot back in the 80s, throughout elementary school and junior high. Been getting back into it over the past few years. Been doing a great job of acquiring kits, not so great at cranking these things out! Have a few on the go right now. Will be posting pics along the way.
