Fujimi Porsche 964 Turbo - Zombie Build Completed
iamsuperdan replied to iamsuperdan's topic in Model Cars
For those that like the colour, it's actually pretty close to the actual real Mint Green used by Porsche. -

Fujimi Porsche 964 Turbo - Zombie Build Completed
iamsuperdan replied to iamsuperdan's topic in Model Cars
I have at least a dozen of the Fujimi kits in the stash. And another zombie is already on the bench, being saved. This next one does not have any paint damage to correct! I'm trying to finish off the zombies before starting new builds. -
I'm a big fan of ju-jubes. Even the black ones. As for chocolate, a Skor bar does it for me. At DQ, the Skor Blizzard is a must have for me. And actually, it's going to be almost 30 degrees C here today. And for most of the week. So I see a Blizzard in my very near future.

I love the GTD. Make mine Race Red in colour. Although, Jay's car in blue is quite striking. Although...colour is a moot point as they're all sold out, so I guess I missed out. No matter, they'll be on Bring A Trailer or at Barrett Jackson soon, so we can always buy ours there. Right? lolz. I think it's great that ford isn't scared to build a car like this or the GT. Kind of like Chrysler in the 90s; creating the Viper, the Prowler, the Ram SRT10, etc. Bonkers vehciles that don't make a lot of sense from a revenue standpoint, but are an awesome halo car that showcass what they can do. I wish more brands would take risks like this. Would love to see Tamiya do a full detail kit of this car.

ESCI. And I bet I'm the onyl one saying that. They had some unique subjects that no one else bothered producing. Well, at least until Italeri bought up the old tooling. Ford Transit Renault 5 Mercedes G-Wagen Mercedes 190 Toyota Land Cruiser Range Rover BMW M1 They may have been simple kits, but they look good when built. Body dimensions were excellent.

Really nice!

With all the negative posts out there regarding vendors, it's time for a positive one. https://www.lbproductionhk.com/ LB Production are a Chinese decal manufacturer. I recently ordered a couple of sets of decals for the Tamiya GT3RS, as they have more colour options than Tamiya does. Pricing was excellent. Even with shipping, far less than other suppliers. Looking at $25.85 CDN for two sets of decals, including tracked shipping. That's $18.86 US. Took exactly two weeks for me to order and have the decals arrive here in Canada. I ordered on July 9th, and they arrived on the 23rd. They look excellent. Details are crisp, colours are exactly as pictured on their website. I highly recommend, and will be ordering more in the future. Still in the packages, with protective film.

I actually finished a model today. So that's one off the bench. Wow. It's been a while. Honestly...it might be the first one I've finished this year. I just haven't had that much bench time, plus I had a stretch of zero interest in building. I'm better now.

Well, cleared one old project off the bench. This one was a challenge. Fujimi Porsche 964 Turbo. Acquired this and started it 5 or 6 years ago. Did my usual prep, then when I sprayed the mint green colour, the body reacted. Badly. It ate into the plastic, the whole car looked like a vinyl roof. I was disappointed, as the chassis was totally fine. Body was modled in red, not grey, so perhaps that plaastic was just different enough. Anyway, after a dip in the purple pond, and a little sanding, it didn;t look much better. Threw it in the box and stuffed into a corner of the shelf. Fast forward to a couple of weeks ago. I saw the box, had a look, decided to try and salvage it. I wish I could find the pics I took before I started saving it. I sanded. And sanded. And sanded some more. Then it was sand, primer, sand, primer. Did that a few times until I felt the body looked okay. Then hit it with the paint. Of course, I'm an idiot, and used the EXACT SAME paint can that messed it all up in the first place. Must have had enough primer on there because it laid out fine. Of course, all that sanding and priming meant that a lot of the details are washed out, even with re-scribing panel lines. Still, did the best I could, and it looks okay on the shelf.

3D resin rivets and louvres on decals
iamsuperdan replied to Earl Marischal's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
On a related note, 3D printing rivets can be done. Not sure what I'll do with these, as I can't imagine not losing half of these the moment I tried them. But, the files were free, so why not try them? -
I had a '95 Camaro Z28 Convertible a few years ago. Excellent car, very similar to the Firebird Formula. Still miss that car. Looking forward to seeing where you go with this.

Without giving too much away, this has come up in staff meetings, and we are discussing what paid access might look like. Very VERY early stages, but this is an option on the table. At some point, we'll be asking for opinions from the masses. 👍

I might have that. Will check for you.

Technically...the ads you see are based on each user's browser history. So... 🤪 But I think it's more that this site discusses models at length. And we even have a drag section. So that probably skews some things.

Looks great! I have this one semi-started. Have been 3d printing some parts that will be so much better than what's in the kit. I like your idea of adding the chicken decal though. Hmm...

Why plastic bags to ship fragile items?
iamsuperdan replied to OldTrucker's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
I oredered a kit off of Amazon and it was sent in a bag. When it arrived, it looked like the driver sat on it. Took it out of the bag, box totally crushed. Somehow, the contents were entirely undamaged. Perfect. Either way, I sent the pics of the crushed box and bagged content to Amazon and told them it was badly damaged, so they issued a full refund. And I bought another that was shipped in a box. -
1/24th. Vodafone McLaren Mercedes MP4-25 "L. Hamilton"
iamsuperdan replied to Luc Janssens's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Is this a reissue of one the Revell F1 cars they did about 10 years ago? I think they did all of them then. Sauber, BMW, Jordan, Ferrari, Red Bull, Renault, Williams, etc. Whatever the case, I need one. Possibly two. -
Your paint looks excellent. The outdoor lighting is so much better than indoor pics. Not a criticism of your build in any way, but every one of these C8 builds I've seen looks like the front end sits high.
