  1. Judging by the last issue of the 1929 Model kit, the Ala Kart fenders (though modified) are in there. However, the Ala Kart front axle, and a few other key pieces were cut out during the Lesney era to allow the stock 29 A front axle and brake linkage to be on the chrome tree for the A Venger issue. I think the quad headlamps are likely also long gone. Might have to go down to my stash and compare some trees. if I do, I'll shoot some pics.
  2. Close, but not quite. The issue just before the Street Rods version is the one on the bottom right. The one with the Yellow Mod Rod on it. That was also the last issue you could still build an Ala Kart from.
  3. Now THAT is sharp. I just may have to do that myself!
  4. Actually, that last reissue of the MPC 60 Corvette kit (AMT - gold car on box top) does have the metal coli springs. However, RC2 neglected to restore the spindles to work with the coil springs. (They originally had a 90 degree 'hook' on each end to keep them in the control arms.
  5. I'm with Tim. Boyd. Great attitude, great color, and nice photography as well.
  6. I like it. Great color scheme!
  7. Love seeing when someone does one of those old multi-piece bod kits proud. Looks great! Revell really did do some pretty nice kits back in the day. Once again, nice job!
  8. What the empty spots on the interior tree?
  9. 1, 2 and 10. The SBC doesn't bother me at all. And I'm a Ford guy.
  10. The more I look at it, the more I like it. Awesome build
  11. Oh, if only the tool still existed.... Those would be some fun slump busters.
  12. All it needs now is some foil on the vent window. Nice paint job Gregg, what did you paint it with?
  13. That's the nicest I've ever seen that Monogram based 'Stang look. Kudos. I'd host that on my shelf anytime.
  14. I have never had one, but I have seen them. First off, it was engineered by Pyro Plastics in the mid 1950's. It has a generally crude, multi pieced body (predated the multi-piece sliding insert molds pioneered by George Toteff of AMT models.) That said, as far as Auburn Speedsters go, I think it is the only game in town. Highly accurate it isn't, but it's still kind of neat.
  15. It's for the shelf, not for actual driving. You don't need to fit into it. Pretty sure that Actually fitting into the car in scale was going to be a concern, they wouldn't have reissued it. In other news, I got me a "Catch the Kat" issue last night molded in metal flake blue.
  16. Nice Decnals tho.
  17. I'm liking that in red, I've got a few of those waiting on getting built myself. One of these days!
  18. Is this what became of the MPC Dodge Challenger kit?
  19. Went to mine yesterday, and they were totally cleaned out of all their on sale stuff. Too bad - they had some great stuff on sale. 5.99-6.99. No good if it's not in stock though.
  20. I was at Goodguys in Des Moines last weekendm and I thought of the Speedwagon when I saw this car.... I believe it's a 30-31 Model A with a Chevy radiator shell.
  21. Headlight lenses are on upside down, Kinda neat to see one built up with the stock headlights tho. Real one has the smaller ones.
  22. The original issue of the 61 and 62 Corvettes had separate headlight bezels and lenses that were much closer to correct (tho not perfect.) (See step D). When the 62 was re-issued, the opening trunk was molded shut, and some really poorly done headlight bezels were molded into the body.
  23. Holy Paul Hettick, Batman! That is a drop dead gorgeous model. My hat is off to you, my friend. Outstanding job.
