Parts are in and here’s where I am at now with the above Traxxas Factory Five Hot Rod? with those fenders gone, it’s starting to look like a real hot rod now! -

Need to order a clear body to chop up for a fenderless build, but I’m digging the more tuner-ish rolling stock from the Supra GR version of this chassis already, should look better in a darker color and with the fenders chopped off? -
What Did You Get Today? (Not Model Related)

Picked up a different set of rolling stock and Rx for the above Hot Rod. It looks like I will need to order the body in clear and second light harness so I can have this one as the pretty shelf body then a fenderless body to have for having fun, especially with those bigger Cheater slick style tires for the Supra version of this chassis? -
You know, to me it’s those types of drivers that I wouldn’t mind seeing in self driving cars, wouldn’t be shocked if the current level of autonomous vehicles are already better drivers that a lot of the drivers on our roads today!

Picked this up from a friend today, Traxxas has been running a 2 for $300 sale on these, so we went in together on them! My friend grabbed the pickup shown here for his part of the sale! -

Found this tea when Dad and I went to get lunch today, label caught my attention for a couple reasons, but it’s pretty good too! even the metal cap has the PW artwork on it and it comes in a glass bottle too! -
I wasn’t able to make Easter breakfast with my Sister, 3.5 y/o Niece, BiL and his family due to an illness I’m still dealing with but Dad went and took the Lego sets we had bought my Niece. Dad started noticing that she isn’t building them as the instructions state to do, she basically chucks them and starts building how she wants! I’m happy to see that she is going to be creative with them, though I may be looking at the generic sets for her, going forward.

Modern way to steal a car
Joe Handley replied to bobthehobbyguy's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I think that wasn’t unusual, I’ve heard multiple stories about this with Ford products too, especially if they were near twins of each other. One with the 80’s or 90’s Taurus as well as 2000’s Explorers. My current boss used to own the latter before I worked for her and she had mentioned that she had gotten into what she though was her’s but the seats were all in the wrong position (ie-too far back) and couldn’t figure out why until she realized it wasn’t hers then found the right one after getting out of it. Keep in mind, it was almost identical to hers other than the license plate and seat/steering wheel settings. -
Got my Wheely Kings running again last night!

Thanks, he seems to be doing better today and this seems to have started reversing some numbness in his feet too!

Hope you’re still doing well.

Well, now that it’s over, I’ll talk…. Dad had been diagnosed as a teen with a heart murmur and his old, country doctor at the time couldn’t find a surgeon in Iowa at the time that felt could fix it and after a couple years, he retired and then passed away. Over the next 60+ years, nobody else seemed to find it until this past September when he underwent tests at the local hospital, where the machine he had to get into found a bad valve that needed replacement. Tuesday, Dad went into the local hospital that found it and the doctors there put in a new valve, going in through the arteries in his legs to to do so. The surgery was successful and though they thought he was going to need a pacemaker, as of right now, he does not! He was released from the Hospital Wednesday afternoon and had a visit from my Sister, her Husband and my now 3.5 y/o niece after my Sister was off work. He will need to wear a monitor for the next month to make things continue to go well, but it’s done, he’s home and now needs to recover. I’ve taken the week off to help out too.

Panel Truck ? Sedan Delivery ?
Joe Handley replied to Sam I Am's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
That was in a Florida subdivision (possibly in a gated community too), with a HOA that had a similar rules vs local ordinances in some of the ritzier Chicago suburbs and neighboring, wanna be ritzy suburbs! Then when it comes to the B Truck Plates, vehicles with those plate are not allowed on certain roads, with Lake Shore Drive being one of them. Oddly enough, you can take box vans and step vans on those same restricted roads. -

I remember that, weren’t there some of the really high end suburbs that straight out banned all trucks, even garaged after dark here too? We also have the B Truck plate that restricts where vehicles wearing them can be driven, like not being allowed on Lake Shore Drive, as an example too. -

For a time, Illinois did the same with the XJ Jeep Cherokees we had, it was either a Station Wagons or Carry All, depending on if it was the ‘88 or ‘90 Dad had, the ‘92 my Sister had or the ‘98 I had. -

Dad bought himself a new TV for the kitchen a couple weeks ago, set the new TV up on Saturday then I used the old one to update my work desk in the office. Not working from home any more, but still use it for models and R/C projects and this will give me more room for bigger projects like my Traxxas E-Revo that I need to finish dismantling and start refurbishing, plus has more room for my stretched HPI Wheely King and if I ever get going on my MPC 1/16 kits! Before, while still on WFH too. After After, but with said stretched Wheely King now on the desk! Think I need to bring that Tamiya Wild Willy 4x4 from the desk top as well as the portal equipped Tamiya MF-01x Chassis Suzuki Jimny I have for the Lock Screen up and take desk pictures with their images on the screen too!

Battery replacement cost…..
Joe Handley replied to BlackSheep214's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I wouldn’t be surprised if the dealerships or service centers and their techs just aren’t ready for open pack surgeries yet. They’ll probably need to get more guys trained for the EVs in general just to remove and replace entire packs and since these are under warranty under those circumstances, they may treat it like a blown engine and want them back to see what happened. Possibility they would take those to determine if the rest of the pack is ok then replace what is shot with matched good cells then put them in inventory as factory reman at a lower price. Having remans like that should reduce cost to replace a pack that went bad through use, age, collision, ect then those that just don’t have the life left for vehicular use can be put into service where a battery backup in conjunction with or in place of a generator for use during power outages.
