AMT kits suck!
Danno replied to Plumcrazy Preston's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Sounds like what you want, Mr. Preston is snap kits. Perhaps you should stick to those. If the KW925 kit was as bad as your commentary indicates, it wouldn't have sold well when it was new and it wouldn't have sold well enough to be re-issued over and over through the years. Remember the sage words of Mick Jagger and friends: "You can't always get what you want." Forty (or so) year old kit with modern state of the art engineering and precision snap kit features? Not in this lifetime, I'm afraid. I've bought and built thousands of AMT kits in my lifetime and haven't experienced what you describe across the board as you suggest. Maybe an occasional kit doesn't live up to high expectations, but the vast majority of them did and do and will continue to. Sorry you had a bad experience with one kit, but it doesn't warrant painting the entire AMT product line with such a harsh brush. IMHO. Mellow out and have a nice holiday season. ?? -
Love them all, Steve. But most especially that Chrysler! SSuper Nice!! ??

You did. Sorta. Several posts back Moparfarmer diverted the discussion to the 1959 Imperial (as another example of an "oddity" reissue that was an unlikely success). Then RichCostello posted that it was currently on the shelf at Hobby Lobby. When I first read RichCostello's post, I too thought it was indicating the Nova station wagon was at Hobby Lobby (after all, it's a thread about the Nova), but re-reading it revealed it was apparently a referrence to the Imperial. I don't think the Nova has made it to Hobby Lobby yet . . . it's still scheduled for March release, I believe. Sometimes it takes a road map to follow conversations around here. Hope this helps. ??- 599 replies

It's not a matter of manufacturers' rationale. It's Federal safety mandates. Back up cameras are required on all passenger vehicles, but trucks and commercial vehicles are not included. 'Small window sports cars'? I dunno what you're referring to, but most likely exempt due to being exotics and other-category low production vehicles. Don't scratch your head. It's not a mystery, the manufacturers have no say in the matter. ??

Do you think that was worse than the 1/24 abomination Monogram did? The one that looked like all of Monogram's designers took the week off and Monogram hires temps from Palmer for that one kit? That tooling had a svelte body like a tugboat with Tyrannosaurus Rex thighs and a face not even a mother on crack could love. Here's box art from one of the variants: My vote for the WORST Camaro kit/s of all time. ??
