*1934 Ford Pickup*
mchook replied to Zippi's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
The wiring looks great, but I think your carb is on sideways. The bulge for the float should be facing forward. -
Nice work, it's nice to see you kept it Ford powered.

Foose 56 International?
mchook replied to mchook's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Thanks guys, I made some inner fenders & checked to see if the hood fits with the carb & aircleaner (thank you Bob for reminding me to do this). Surprisingly it doesn't hit! I'm building the radiator and trying to figure out an electric fan for it. I'll probably just hack up the Foose radiator. -
Arrived today and it's super detailed for such a small kit. I can't wait to start it! Sorry for the crappy pics.

*1934 Ford Pickup*
mchook replied to Zippi's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
That old Lindberg kit didn't come as a dual wheeled truck. It had the options of stock, hot rod, rack body or wrecker but they were all single wheels. Not that you can't do it but it might funny with the wire wheels. I'm sure whatever you choose will be cool! -
Foose 56 International?
mchook replied to mchook's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Thanks again guys, I'm still plugging along when I have time. I've been working on getting the interior to fit. After I narrowed it to fit in the cab I realized that the trans tunnel needed to be cut out so I can get it as low as I can so I barrowed a tunnel from my parts box. The firewall was giving me a hard time too because any engine I tried to make fit hit everything. So I ended up moving the Ford engine from the Foose kit forward as much as I could and boxed in the firewall to make it fit. It's not great but it's what I came up with. Now I have to figure out some inner fenders, YAAAAAY! I did manage to get the cab 2 toned, the hood will be white too but I'm still trying to get it to look right. Anyway, that's about it for now. -

Tandem axle Haul Away car transporter
mchook replied to Mopar - D's topic in Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Amazing job! Everything about this setup is perfect. I see you started another transporter already, I'm surprised your not resting your fingers for a little while longer after drilling, I mean building this one. -
Nissan Sunny Parts Runner

Cool little truck. Your weathering looks nice too, great job! -
Hey Bob, your old A Model came out really nice! You definitely had more patience than me when it came to dealing with that windshield. Another one for your shelf that you can be proud of.

I love it. Old, worn out but still going. Just like me.?

Thanks guys for the great comment & encouragement. I gave it light coat of flat black because when I start sanding through the colors for my weathered look it gives it a little more definition. I'm pretty sure I'm going with a light blue with a white top. I hit the bed with some blue but not the cab yet. I've been trying to get the Foose interior in it so I've been hacking at that for a while trying to narrow it up & reshape the dash. Not much of an update but a little is better than none. -
It was pretty cool at the time back in the 80s. I got it when I was about 13, I traded a 54 Mercury for it. Ya, I've been doing this for a long time. I always wonder about what ever happened to it. Exactly what I think too. The 51 Chevy truck he just sold was just that, 350 with an automatic ?. The 49 F1 we're working on now will be sporting a 51 Mercury flathead V8 with all vintage speed stuff. Edelbrock tri power, offenhauser heads and magneto, you know, all the good stuff.

Real nice paint! Everything looks nice, I can't wait to see it finished. Great work!

Thanks Bill, I'm petty sure that's the way we're headed. Thanks Dan, it's pretty solid compared to most here in N.Y. It will run, like dad says "if its got gas and spark we can make it run". Hey David, like you said these old 6 cylinders are full of torque. We had a 51 2 door sedan when I was "younger" and you could get it to 70mph quick! He has a friend who has a 2 carb setup for a 6, maybe we can talk him out of it. Thanks Bob! Thanks Ray, the interior is pretty nice. Good headliner, new seat covers and carpet but someone removed the door panels so we'll have to do something about that. We're probably going for a fake chop, you know put a sun visor on it. We have one for it, along with some lowering blocks for the rear and maybe some fender skirts. Thanks Paul, the interior is partially redone so hopefully it wont be to bad to finish (door panels). We'll probably stick with the 6 if it's not worn out. There is a lot of room in these engine bays. I had a 51 Coupe that we put a 272 Mercury Y block with 3 deuces in back when I was a kid. We never finished it, I wish I never sold it.

Well, my father sold his 51 Chevy pickup a couple weeks ago, which I was kinda happy to see go. We put a lot of work in it and he still wasn't happy with it. He called Friday and asked me to haul his new project home. This "wonderful" 1950 Ford 4 door sedan. I know nobody wants a 4 door but he doesn't care, he just wants to ride in something old. It doesn't run "yet" and it has a 6 cylinder with a 3 speed overdrive transmission. Shouldn't be too hard to get it running again, we have plenty of spare parts and a few flathead v8s if it gives us too much trouble. We just put his 49 Ford pickup back in the garage to work on so I'm not sure when we'll start on this. Either way, let the wrench turning, cussing & bloody knuckles start all over again.

This is what I have for a model bench too. It's nice but I left off the bottom shelf so I would have room for my legs. I also added a 4 foot led light. It's pretty tall too, so I have an old adjustable stool I use to sit on.

Foose 56 International?
mchook replied to mchook's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Thanks Carl. I got both bed sides built & primed so they're as good as they're gonna get. I narrowed the front end before so now I narrowed the rear. I also got some gunmetal painted on the wheels to break up some of the chrome. Once I shorten the rack I'm gluing it together, so I'll finally have a roller. Still have to figure out an engine but that can wait for now. -
Thanks Jerry, everyone in the house says she's turning into my dog instead of my daughters dog. She's loads of fun and lots of company, even when you don't want any. She loves to talk, not bark but make sounds like she's telling you all about something. That's her in my Lincoln thread yelling at me to "stop playing with that stupid model & play with me!" At least that's what I hear.

Thanks David, I was going to flatten the top rail but I'm getting tired of cutting on this. I realized I should have made the sides lower so I had to fix that. One side is done now onto the other.
