Foose 56 International?
mchook replied to mchook's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Thanks Steve, I added some bumperettes to it. We'll see if it looks right after some weathering. Ya, I got a little carried away with the rust in the bed.? -
Good looking little hot rod. I like what you've done so far, keep up the great work.

Well, the decals are on and the wrecker boom is in the parts box. I hacked off the running board brackets because they looked funny with the truck being so low, plus I'm getting lazy and didn't want to build them.? I narrowed the Foose bumper and after I weather it a little that will be done. Now that it will be a regular pickup I had to make a tailgate. I hacked up the resin one and made a simple one to fit, nothing fancy. The letters on the resin one aren't right for the truck but I cut them out and put them on it anyway. Little by little it's getting there, thanks again to everyone for all the interest and comments! -

Thanks Jeff, now I just have to figure out what to put in the bed for "rust proofing" stuff.? -
Good luck with that!?

Thanks Jerry, I'm going with the decals. I hear you Francis, rust on my 1:1s sucks & there is plenty of it here in N.Y. Thank you for the compliments, it's crazy to me that you and all the other amazing builders here think anything I build is impressive. Thanks Carl, it's getting there. Thanks Bob, I cut down the Foose bumper & it looks pretty good. I was looking for gas station decals & saw those Rusty's ones & figured it would be funny on one of my rusty junkers. -

I haven't had much bench time lately, been busy with getting ready for winter and for the last 2 days I helped my friend strip the roof on his lake house and reshingle it. This afternoon is cleanup day, YAAAAAA!? Thanks for the advice on the bumper everyone. The more I look at the bumper the more I think you guys are right, it's just too big for this truck. I do think it needs something so I'll revisit that later. I did manage to ruin more on the paint job and started building a wrecker boom. I'm not positive I'll be using the wrecker boom or not but I'll build it anyway because I can always put it in something else. If I don't put the boom in I'll be using these decals for the doors. -

Thanks guys, I did a little more weathering on the front and every time I look at it, it seemed like it was missing something. I found this old 56 Chevy bumper and it fit the curve of the truck pretty good. I tweaked it here and there and painted it white. I still have to weather it but I think I like it. I'm not sure if it's going on the truck or not, I'd like some opinions from you guys. What do you think, with it or without it? -
Hi Thomas, glad to have you here. Lots of great people here to share your models with. Can't wait to see your work.

This is probably a stupid question but I'll ask anyway. Could someone 3D print something from a smaller scale model, say 1/35, and make a copy of it in 1/25? Would it be stealing if you did? If not, does anyone know who could do this? I ask because I want to finish my 28 Lincoln wrecker and was going to build a Weaver Autocrane for it from scratch but I found this amazing boom from another kit but it's the wrong scale. It's not that I can't build one myself but it would be alot easier this way and I'm sure mine wouldn't be as nice. Here are some pics of the 1/35 version. Any help would be great... Thanks

Thanks guys. I built the Foose kit engine & figured it fits so I might as well use it. Painted the aircleaner and valve covers to match the truck, I think it looks ok. I mounted it in the chassis and built a driveshaft. I just have to build the exhaust and the chassis should be done. I worked on the grill too, it was a little rough & the lights didn't look right so I made new ones. -

Thanks everyone for your interest and comments. I was back at dads yesterday and he had the steering box back in the old Ford already. He said he took it for a ride and it steered 100% better but it still would quit on him. He figured out that someone moved the fuel lines and added a filter right next to the exhaust manifold and it was getting hot and cooking the gas. We moved the line, made a heat shield and figured it would help. We went for a ride again and it did steer better but it could use a little tightening. We ended up going for about a 10 mile ride and it ran good until you got on it a little and it would spit and sputter. When we got back we put new plugs in it and it ran the same. We changed the carb and it ran the same. We checked the points, condenser, cap, rotor and everything was fine. We pulled the gas line off and ran it from a can to see if the tank or line was plugged a little and it ran the same. We went and had a couple beers, came back, pulled the distributor and changed it and it still ran the same. While doing all this I kept saying it's out of time, but he said it wasn't and it wouldn't run this bad just from being out of time. So I loosened the distributor again while he was revving it up, turned it about a half inch and it ran like a champ. All that work and aggravation for a 2 minute fix! Oh well, we had fun and got to spend more time together and that's really what it's all about. Next we'll rebuild the carb and try to figure out how to make the overdrive work.

Glad to have you here Harald. I can't wait to see more of your stuff, your little van came out great. Have fun and keep building.

Welcome Sam, I'd love to see some of your work. When you get a chance post some pics of your wooden builds please.

Ya, that's my favorite part too, so I did just a taste of weathering on the fender for you. A little wet sanding with 600 and a light touch with a dull 11 blade.
