    I learned to drive stick on my fathers old 33 Ford Doodlebug, I could barely reach the pedals. We moved alot of cars around in the junkyard with it and skid more logs than I can count. I learned to drive on the road in my fathers 1966 Ford wrecker (390 4 speed) and his 1977 Ford E350 van. We still have the old Doodlebug and use it all the time.

    Thanks guys. I figured I'd start a little weathering on the cab and share some of it with you. First I took my dremel to the inside and ground just enough to make the plastic bubble on the outside. Then I take an old blade and open the hole a little at a time from the inside. Once I have the holes opened enough I start with my chips and scratches here and there, nothing fancy just picking at it with a toothpick & knife. I lightly sand most of the edges of everything with some 600 paper just to give it a worn look. Then I start with the rust painting, starting with the darker and then washing and streaking in the lighter colors as I go. No real plan to it at all, I just kinda wing it.

    I worked on the old Jeep today and built the bed for it. I'm not happy with it yet but it's getting there. I also got some paint on the cab too. Sorry for the crappy pics.

    Great looking truck! I love the dump body and all the hydraulics. Lots of details, I can't wait to see more of your builds.

    Thanks guys, This was supposed to be a quick build but the work on the plow is already more than it should be. I did some weathering on the plow, way too much on the back but I was playing with some new paints, added shoes and made new bumper brackets. I also built the rear of the cab, it's not great but better than just a flat piece. I think I'm going with a flatbed with a load of sand, maybe, we'll see.

    That came out great! Your weathering is perfect, not overdone at all. It's funny, I've built a bunch of these Dodge trucks and I always make the hood flat black too. Great minds I guess.?

    RMR resin grill and an old Honcho kit. The chassis was built so I weathered it a little. I took the plow set up from an old GMC kit, cut it up to make it all move like it should and this is about all I have right now.

    Thanks, those dents are done the old fashion way, with a candle heated from the backside of the dent.

    Thanks Jim, Yeah that's a 56 International resin cab I got from RMR. There is a build thread on here and it's in the truck section under glass too. As for using this paint for surface rust it can be done but like you said, it takes alot of experimenting. The paint has iron in it so it has to be mixed really well to work properly. I use a long brush handle to mix the paint first and make sure I scrape all the stuff at the bottom because that's what you need. Once the ball inside moves around easily then I shake it with my paint mixer, which is just an old jigsaw with a squeeze speed clamp in it. I've even thinned it with a little water so it's not too thick. Keep playing with it and you'll be surprised what you can do with it.

    Hi Claude, finding old junk was and still is fun. My father used to be one of those guys who wouldn't sell something to someone if they planned on "ruining it" by turning it into one of those hot rods. Thankfully he's changed his tune about it now. Thanks Steve, but your models put mine to shame. I'm not surprised that the coupe is your 1st attempt, it looks great! I love your 57 Chevy, it looks like my old 56 should be parked next to it.

    I use it all the time now. It takes a little trial and error, I found that if you put the part you're "rusting" in a zip lock bag it helps rust it alot better. Here's the last one I used it on and one built years ago without using it. To me it makes a big difference.

    I like FREE too!? My buddy told me when he was overseas in the service most beer was warm & tasted better that way. But I still like it better cold, especially on a hot day. Going to my fathers today and I'm sure we'll have a couple cheap Bush beers.
