Glad to hear you are doing better Richard. Besides the pain from the surgery, have you noticed a difference in how you feel?

The Ads Are Now Out of Control!
Xingu replied to Snake45's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
What you are seeing are status updates. It's when someone uses a persons profile page, not private messages, to communicate. If you hover over the the little person icon to the left it will show what the activity is from. -
Everyday is a model show here. Feel free to try and organize something if you like.

The Ads Are Now Out of Control!
Xingu replied to Snake45's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
They aren't arrogant, they are being supportive and we ask them to let us know when the ad layouts change. Most folks are trying to to help support the site by keeping the ad revenue coming in. We are trying to find the middle ground with what is tolerable with the ads, but Google keeps changing the rules and not letting us know about it. The ads do seem to be effect folks differently though, as I have never seen some the ads like most recently posted. Folks do know that they can reinstall an ad blocker if they find the ads too obtrusive. We have had some preliminary discussions on a add free subscription to the site. -

I have sent this on to Dave to look into. I have not yet had anything close to this happen to me. Using Firefox on my PC. No Ad Blocker. -

Ads were always there. If they bother you that much reinstall the ad blocker you must have been using before. -

The problem, I believe, is that Google Ads keeps changing how they do things without telling folks about it. So just when you have things under control they change it up. -

$25/yr. for site access should about cover it. -
It's OK, we allow it. We will keep the light on for you when you return.

I would like to have some of those driving rigs they use. Would make it more enjoyable to use a driving simulation.

No more virus talk, please.

possible bug while sending private messages
Xingu replied to STYRENE-SURFER's topic in How To Use This Board
If you go to a members profile page you can add to their "Activity Feed" I believe that may be what you are seeing. Kind of like posting on someone's Facebook page. I could be completely wrong too, as I have not used that function. -
I would suggest everyone return to model building discussions. Snake has used his gypsy fortunetelling abilities to see in to the future.

Day 2 is open to interpretation. IMO you guys will need to be very specific about what your definition is. For what it's worth my definition would be factory options, paint color, wheel combos, etc... that were not necessarily available for that particular model, but the factory offered them on other vehicles manufactured at the same time. So engine swaps would be included in my definition as long as the factory offered it in a different model.

COVID-19 has brought out the tinfoil hat crowd again...
Xingu replied to Mike C's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
Well aside from the link in the first post, which may be political (I didn't click it and I bet a lot of others didn't either) this thread was allowed to remain, as long as it remained civil, so members could voice their concerns about something that dominates the news. As usual, it has turned members against each other, just like a lot of the threads in the Off-Topic area. Maybe we should just make this STRICTLY a model forum and not allow any other discussions. I know my life would be easier if the Off-Topic area wasn't here. Keep it civil or don't post. It's all fun and games until you or someone you know gets the virus. Then the numbers and percentages won't matter. It wont matter that they did or didn't shut down your favorite bar, your town or state. A very large number of members of this forum are older and many have existing health conditions that really put them at risk if they get it. Remember that if you are asking about someone in the Where's Waldo section this summer. -

Lets hope your facts are not true. These are based on the numbers you posted. I hope none of us get it. Flu: 1 out of every 1.6 million die. COVID-19: 1 out of every 72 die -
I merged the two threads. In the future, please do not post the same thread just because you didn't get replies from the first one. As you know, threads like this have a very short leash. Keep it respectable and it can stay open.

Everyone, please go back and read the rules BEFORE you post in this area. Recently, a few folks have posted threads without having their full name listed. If you are not willing to list your full name, you cannot use the Trading Post or Wanted sections of this board.

Thanks for the update. Glad everything went well.

I hate threads like this.....they always cost me money. A few new books are on the way.

Corona Virus (Covid 19) and Model Kits
Xingu replied to Daddyfink's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Stay away from politics, the conversation is headed in that direction. -
Awake and talking today.

Somewhere along the way we have forgotten about models again. We took a very nice tutorial about mimicking something in scale and argued about what it should be called. Lets call it a modelling technique and leave it at that. If you want to argue about 1:1 applications, take it to another thread and be sure to keep it civil, as once again several folks have taken it upon themselves to make things personal. If it continues, I will just remove all the posts that do not pertain to the modelling technique that Matt has been nice enough to share with us.
