My guess is that the OP didn't realize you were offhandedly making fun, at his expense, of the fact that he didn't know Revell doesn't make a '67 Impala. I have been on this forum long enough to know that is what you were doing, in the name of humor. I just guess that I expected more from you, being a long time forum member, who prides himself on being so helpful to others. Someone decides to make a post, become a contributing member of this forum, and your first response is to poke fun at him. Shame your follow-up response wasn't your lead. No collusion was needed. I made my first comment while coming home from vacation. My later response was after I had a chance to sit in front of my computer.

In general, it usually takes a few years to get grubs under control. Be thankful you don't have a mole problem.

I guess true colors shine thru. Rather than explain Revell doesn't make a '67 or ask if he meant an AMT '67 several members would rather post memes and use passive aggressive posts to make it seem like everyone should know what manufacture whats what kits. You can call it being blunt or direct, I call it rude. Others may have different names for it.

Way to welcome a new member.

Who Has all the molds ?

Isn't that what you were hoping for when you “generated” this content. -
I have been tempted to fix some of the spelling errors though ?

Who Has all the molds ?
Xingu replied to Greg Myers's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I don't think most folks get upset about bringing up old topics. It is the starting a new topic every year so that 90% of the new posts are the same from the other topics. As someone who works behind the curtain on this board, I would much rather see someone go to the end of one of the existing threads and say "Anyone hear anything new?" Then we always hear about how old the date on the thread is and how it my dissuade some from reading it. This is from people who build kits manufactured in '70s. -
MCM Relaunch Update 10/2020
Xingu replied to larrygre's topic in Model Cars Magazine News and Discussions
My point in all of this is this. Gregg, Larry or anyone else associated with MCM have any obligation to provide updates, timelines, employee roster or any information whatsoever. It is nice to know that Larry has stepped up to help Gregg with the magazine. It is nice to know that a relaunch is in the works. It is nice to know any little tidbit of information that we get. That does not mean we get to demand, or at least continually ask for, answers. Very few, if any, of us need to know any detail of what is going on with the magazine. So this is taking longer than some of you expect, what do you base your expectations on? I for one have never tried to publish a magazine. I have never had to reach out to advertisers that may be leery of advertising in MCM because of past history. I have never done graphic layout. I have no idea how long it takes to do anything with a magazine. I do understand that most magazines have 3 or done (or close to done) at all times. So maybe that means 3 or 4 issues of MCM needs to be ready to go before the relaunch. Who knows. I don't care about the funding, the graphic layout, how many pages, is Gregg using a black background for photos, how many issues or any of that stuff. I, like most have no control or input over any of that. I will just wait and see what happens. Some here are hopeful that the magazine gets up and running again. Some here hope it fails, for their own personal reasons. Some could care less one way or the other and are waiting to see what happens. I am waiting to see what happens. On a different note. Signature violations, no matter what language they are in can lead lead to punishment up to permanent removal from this board. I have noted a few members here trying to sneak things past us recently. -
MCM Relaunch Update 10/2020
Xingu replied to larrygre's topic in Model Cars Magazine News and Discussions
For one, there is no obligation to answer the question. Why are you so concerned? Everyone else, while still anxious to see/hear when the magazine will start back up, is being patient. Not sure what your motives are here, as every so often you post about the magazine. It seems, at least to me, you like to keep the pot stirred up a bit. Didn't you mention in another post that you don't even have a subscription? I may have you confused with someone else though. I for one would much rather a little more time be sent in the beginning to get things right for the long term success of the magazine than to rush a subpar product to market that leaves us disappointed. -
Lets drop that subject, it only feeds into it when you bring it up. We are watching it very closely. We also have quite a few members here that will quickly report any post that we need to look at.

Who Has all the molds ?
Xingu replied to Greg Myers's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
We already have issues with too many pinned topics in some areas. We are discussing integrating the main webpage a bit more with the board and have a FAQ/Info area there. It does not matter what we do, someone will still ask the same questions again. -
Who Has all the molds ?
Xingu replied to Greg Myers's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
To those that have messaged me and reported this thread - While we would prefer that the existing threads be added to, it isn't against any rule for a poster, even if they are creating an identical thread to one they created a year ago, to bring up previously asked questions. Sometimes we merge the threads and sometimes we leave them separate. -
Well, I guess it could be used for a restaurant display. I wonder if it is going to be part of a series of food kits. Someone will still try to eat it.

MCM Relaunch Update 08/2020
Xingu replied to larrygre's topic in Model Cars Magazine News and Discussions
I am not going to speculate on what either mag is going to do. I will just wait and see. If one or the other or both provide good content, then great. If both fail, I will still build models and visit this site. -
MCM Relaunch Update 08/2020
Xingu replied to larrygre's topic in Model Cars Magazine News and Discussions
I think we (including myself here) have gotten a bit off track and turned this into a discussion about SA. Lets all get back on subject. I am sure Larry will provide an update when he has concrete information to report. -

Do you meant the last issue of Scale Auto? I got mine this week as well. Subscriptions will switch to Fine Scale Modeler. -
Well, even if the engineer realized the overpass was low, it isn't like he can just stop the train on the spot. I doubt all the blame falls on the engineer, even though he may end up being the scapegoat.

I think I have the whole series. They give a lot of good information.

The only way I can think of off the top of my head is to click "Forgot Password" when trying to login. This will of course make it so you couldn't log back in from your desktop.
-
I got one as well, but I had just finished paying for the last item I purchased.

This one hit home pretty hard. Partially because it came out of no where and was a shock. He was also 10 years younger than I am and colon cancer is supposed to be a concern after 50. He was a good actor and I really liked 42. Sounds like he was working to help others, right up to his death.

This Forum's Purpose
Xingu replied to Dave Ambrose's topic in Model Cars Magazine News and Discussions
@afx yes this is for topics specifically about the magazine. @hack-n-whack yes there is still a magazine. Larry is taking over the bulk of the work associated with the magazine. He is working on a sustainable plan to relaunch the magazine and keep it on schedule. -
What Happened to Big Boyz?
Xingu replied to Slimguy's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
The Big Boyz section is being removed. All of the Big Boyz threads have been moved to the appropriate WIP or Under Glass sections. -
13 years on MCM, & 10,000 post
Xingu replied to Greg Myers's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
You guys amaze me everyday. You want to know how posts counts get so high, it's because you take a very simple topic and jump the train off the tracks, take the train to the beach and see if you can make it float. that is how far off track this has gotten. I am a work so I can't get to deep into this. Locked while we sort out what needs to be done here. -
