I have found that doctors can be "bought" by specific drug companies, so asking your doctor about another medicine is a good idea. Doesn't need to be one you see on TV, but one you found out about during your own research. Most of the side effects that they read off on TV, by law, are the same ones you read on OTC drugs, like aspirin.

Land Rover
Xingu replied to mrmike's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
This is a members build thread and as such, should be limited to questions or comments about the actual model being built. Please be respectful and do not clutter the thread with off topic discussions or photos. We have various other areas of the board for general discussions and questions. You can even send message directly to other members if you wish. -
Will have to let Dave chime in on it. We are just trying it out and learning a bit as we go.
-
I am not sure how Dave has it setup. I can just click on the green square and see everything.

We are performing a real world trial to determine the viability of a digital user interaction device.

I feel I need to step in here. Some of you are now poking fun at people dying, what is wrong with you. I don't see you guys making fun of folks when they say their mother or wife passed. It's called the Off-Topic area for a reason. If we didn't have the Off-Topic area, you guys would be posting all this in the Model Building Questions section asking us to provide a place for Off-Topic discussions. I feel that this board, for some, is their go to place to interact with other people. Like many of you are so fond of saying, "If it doesn't interest you, don't click on it" Perhaps Dave gave see if there is a way to exclude this area from activity feeds, so you guys won't be burdened with having to scroll past the posts. OK, rambling rant over.
-
Scroll to the very top of the page "Activity" is right next to the "Subscribe" button. I assume it is similar on a tablet (it was the same on my iPad)
-
I just poked around and didn't see any way to exclude an area.

Well, actually those could be for blind passengers in the back seat. The ADA, while not perfect, does make life a bit more normal for the disabled. The sign is a bit confusing though. I think it is because there is a driveway or intersection around a curve that can't be seen.

I agree with a lot of this. The problem is, at some point, the one-clickers will finally start typing responses like "why is Xingu the only one responding, he thinks he knows everything"

What's the point of the old threads?
Xingu replied to Oldcarfan27's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
There is good information in a lot of old threads, even if the photo links are broken. Clearly the old threads have some valve, since folks seem to go back to view them from time to time (even if it is just to complain about them). I for one don't want to go thru a million posts to find the ones that are missing photos and then try to determine if there is still any value to the post. Everyone needs to stop worrying about the old threads, they are not going anywhere. At least until we reach a hard limit on space, then we MAY look into archiving threads prior to a certain date. If you are worried about old threads, just check the date it was started before you click on it. The start date is listed right below the thread title. This site provides a lot of information, even about the old threads, if you take the time to look for and read it. -
I think this thread has run it's course and we have all the useful information we are going to get.

1970 Ford Galaxie 500 reissue : I added Factory Reference Material
Xingu replied to migace's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Lets keep this on-topic. Please don't start posting random other cars in this thread. You can start new threads to discuss the other cars and paint schemes. -
Seems like we have all the same arguments/discussions about the "Like" button every year or so. I don't think anyone has changed their view on it yet.
-
No, but when comments start being directed at other members instead of the kit I am going to step in and remind everyone to take a breath and watch what they post. We are many pages of comments past asking for help. We just need to keep it respectful.
-
It's OK to trash the model/kit if you like, but DO NOT start trashing other members of this board. Don't make things personal, not everyone has the skill set or desire.

Rare 'Cuda up for auction
Xingu replied to ksnow's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I think it will be sold to an anonymous buyer after the auction is over. I think this auction may just be advertising that it is for sale. -
For Fotki, click Share, then click the text for Image URL for use on other sites:, wait for it to say that it has been copied. Then paste the info into your post. I believe this will pull the photo from the Fotki site every time someone views the post with the thread. That means photos will NOT show if link changes or Fotki site is down. That procedure should be similar for most photo hosting sites. Again, it is better if you directly upload your photo directly to the board. As long as the site is up, the photos will be here and visible.

What Did You Accomplish Today? (Model Car Work)
Xingu replied to Snake45's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Just a reminder to everyone - Use this thread for small updates on projects that there are not separate WIP threads on. No need to post it here AND in the Workbench section. We are trying to cut down on the double update posts. -
Cleared it from this thread.

Why do people dig up these old threads???
Xingu replied to Force's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
For the record, it doesn't matter if you add to an old thread or start a new one on a topic already discussed, just like it doesn't matter if we have threads complaining about it. It all adds to the discussion. Sometimes we merge threads (usually if they were started about the same time) sometimes we allow multiple threads on previously covered subjects. There is no scientific or mathematical formula that we follow. Generally we ask, "does it hurt anyone?" (butt hurt doesn't count here) when we decide to get involved as moderators. While it would be nice to have a single thread with all the information on a subject, it just isn't practical. Some folks will not search for old threads. Some folks will not read through long threads. Some foks want quick short answers. Some folks want longer, more technical answers. It also can help the board to have multiple "hits" when someone does a google search on a modeling subject. Moral of the story: You can be on either side of the fence here, but we aren't going to be forcing folks to do one or the other anytime soon. -
I went back and reread the whole thing. Should have been shut down earlier.
-
This smells a lot like politics. Steer clear or it will be shut down.

I see it in this thread.
