  1. Sprayed color tonight with no issues. Didn't change a thing. Not sure why the primer was so difficult. It is all a learning experience. As time goes on I will (hopefully) be able to diagnose and fix issues like this. I must say, airbrushing is no where near as difficult as I thought it would be (knocks on wood)
  2. Harry showed the ad for regular darts that were clearly marketed as toys. I just don't remember ever seeing them.
  3. I am using a Paasche H with Paasche compressor. Pressure set at 25psi. I will check into the possibility of a cracked tip. Thanks for the info.
  4. The VERY first thing I did when I got lawn darts (early 70's) was throw it as high in the air as I could and then went to stand under it to see how close I could get to it. I never got hit with one. I guess there were many other kids out there that were not as lucky as I was. I don't believe regular darts were directly marketed toward small children. Lawn darts were marketed as a toy.
  5. I decided to try my hand at airbrushing tonight. Just putting a light coat of primer down because I wanted to see how it went. Every so often I would get a large drop that made it to the body. My guess is it was pooling at the tip and eventually blowing out onto the model. You can see the drops at the top of the door and on the seat in the photo below. Many more fell basically straight down onto the paper I laid down in the booth. What causes this and how can I correct it. I was using pre-thinned MCW primer.
  6. Did Mr. Horsepower somehow become Thrush at some point? Logos are awful similar.
  7. I believe that is an early logo for Thrush mufflers.
  8. I saw an NHRA video not long ago that says Top Fuel cars are making 13-14k hp. It is an impressive feat that they can get any of that power to the ground.
  9. I didn't know Macs had different keys. Will remember that for the future. At least they both use the V key
  10. Ctrl V is what I think Harry meant.

Thanks for the kind words. I am sure most of you would have known how to fix the interior tub. It was badly warped and the material seemed thinner than it should have been. This one probably never should have made it passed quality control. I just looked at it as a learning experience and went with it. I have since purchased another one of these kits, so I can try again later. Hopefully each future build I do gets a little better than the last.
  12. Nice build. I am sure your customer will appreciate the effort you put in it.

Was a good day, I finished a model! I am open to critique and criticism, but please keep in mind this is the first model I have built in over 30 years. I was a teenager when I last built one and at that time I found other things besides models to keep me busy This is the best model that I have built to date. I enjoyed building it and learned a lot of new things while doing it. I also found out that there are a lot of things I still need to learn. This particular kit had some warped parts and I did my best to straighten them out, but really didn't know what I was doing. The biggest issue was the interior tub, as both sides were turned down extremely bad. I pretty much had to weld the firewall and dash in. They are not in the ideal position and it has kept the body from sitting correctly on the chassis. The paint isn't perfect, but I am mostly happy with it. Somewhere along the line, I lost the license plates. They are the only parts left off the kit. I went with the stock six-cylinder version. Thanks for looking.
  15. Looking good. I can't wait to see the finished product.
  16. This little guy adopted us a few years ago. There used to be four, but I believe the foxes in my area got the others. One night he decided to roost in the tree right next to my bedroom window, he has been there every night since. I put corn and foul pellets out for him. He often sleeps, during the day, on one of the window sills in my basement. You will not stop laughing if you ever get to see one run. My nephew named him Kevin.

  18. Sounds like this Ak guy was a kit basher.
  19. Enjoy it. I recently started my first model in about 30 years too. Now I have four started. Eventually I will finish one. Plan out what gets painted the same color and paint them all it once. Most things can be stripped and redone if you aren't happy with it. Test fit the pieces before you paint and make adjustments as needed. Next thing you know, you will have a complete model.
  20. Got the MRRN CD in the mail today, from Curt. Wow, this is going to be a great resource. Well worth the $15.
  21. The tobacco companies probably allowed this. What better way to hook your next generation of customers.
  22. I can translate .... but that's a bit young for this crowd.
  23. My hat is off to all the builders that make BMF look like real chrome trim on a car. In my defense, this is my very first time trying this. I can see this is a skill that will only be honed by lots of practice. I am also accident prone, so working with a scalpel comes with its own challenges. No one was bloodied up.......this time. Model is not perfect, but I am enjoying building it.
  24. Back when I was still in high school (probably 1983 or so) there was a 16 year old kid that lived on the street behind us and a few houses up. His father was in the army and this 16 year old kid looked like he was 30 with a full beard and all. He got caught impersonating an army officer. When they came to search his house they found 2 cases of live grenades and a M16 rifle with 1000's of rounds of ammo. He was finally caught when he tried to requisition a jeep. Luckily they caught him before he killed anyone.
