Channel West Coast, I believe.

I figured the body seam was an easy mod to start with. I see on the wonderful builds on this site and figure I have to start somewhere. I helped a friend of mine hot rod a '39 Plymouth Coupe. We tubbed it, modified the suspension and dropped a 318 in it. Was a fun car. We just didn't seal the interior well enough and exhaust fumes kept trying to kill us.

Is there a Preview Post function that I can use before submitting a topic or post? I have looked around but can't seem to find it (which usually means it is hiding in plain sight).

I started my first build in about 35 years, the AMT '41 Plymouth 2N1 Coupe. Actually this is my mulligan. I originally started building a 1/32 Lindberg 1925 Ford Model T Street Rod, but couldn't find 2 pieces in the kit that would go together without some serious massaging. I put that kit aside until I develop better skills and far more patience. I plan to build the Plymouth in the stock configuration. In my research, I noted that the front body seam is in a different location so I am attempting to make it more represent the 1:1 car. I still have work to do. Here are a few photos. Have not gotten to far yet and I intend to take my time, so some time may pass before the next update. I am open to critiques, but keep in mind, this is basically my first build and I have limited skills

Welcome! Is that a CRT monitor? I heard about those in history class I missed the first half of '67.

Will we ever see their like again?

Not saying you advocate any of that. I just think shared platforms is a 'foot in the door' or 'give them an inch and they take a mile' scenario. I have no idea where this fear of Government has come from all of a sudden. I used to not care about what they did. -
Sounds about right. A friend of mine had a short block many years ago. He searched forever to find heads (pre internet) and the only ones he found were in really bad shape. The guy wanted like $10k for them. He ended up selling the short block for $20k. This was probably early 80's.

That would be such a street sleeper. Did they come in a lighter shade of blue that year?

That would be one expensive display of horsepower sitting in someones shop.

When the whole industry standardizes, it will be easier for the Government to regulate and control. Our Government cannot run itself efficiently, let alone other industries. That was the jump I made. The Government has already tried to crush the old cars. to give the illusion they are cleaning up the environment by getting rid of the old gas guzzling, ozone depleting dinosaurs of the past (which I love and will hold onto until I die). Government control and regulation will have far reaching effects. Eventually there will be no current fleet. All the old cars will be obsolete and only viewed in museums. There will be one vehicle and since it will be self driving, it will be owned and operated by the Government. I do agree that the parts stores do currently sell BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH. New vehicle production is already highly automated. If it is simplified and standardized even more, it could become nearly fully automated. There will be jobs for designers, engineers and programmers. The middle class fabrication and assembly jobs will be further lost. I agree that lowered production costs, and/or higher import taxes, are needed to help provide and keep US jobs. Corporate tax loopholes need to also be closed. IMO many automakers solely make decisions on how it personally affects their board members and not the majority of their workers or even the consumers. If the incentive for them to take their manufacturing plants overseas was taken away or penalized, they would adjust their business model. Hopefully that wouldn't be to the detriment of the average middle class factory worker. I think we still need diversity in the automotive industry. This pushes innovation and safety and still lets us buy a vehicle that fits our individual personalities. I want to be able to pick a vehicle that suits my needs. Not just decide between the light gray one or the dark gray one. -
A choice had to be made. Drip rails or mirrors. I like the story behind the build. I wish I had all the old Mopars I used to own.

I was thinking more about this today (plenty of time to think when stuck in DC area traffic). This would adversely affect others, such as parts suppliers and retailers not to mention all the aftermarket companies out there. There would be no need for all the auto parts stores. We could all go to the Government owned parts depot. This would also make it easier for Big Brother to get involved and tell us what we can and cannot do. I can see old cars being crushed now. Conform or get consumed. -

I believe Ace was talking about shared platforms between all manufacturers, not just the ones that have partnered up or have been bought out and merged by larger corporations. -
I wanted something different. It was the second one sold in Maryland (1st convertible). Funny thing is, I followed the other on the way home one evening and the guy lives in the same town as I do. I think it had a speed limiter set to 159mph. You know how i found out It spent so much time in the garage in between drives that I usually had to jump start it. I think I had it 3 years and sold it with 2500 miles on it.

Most of my pets are fish. Don't have to take them out near as much as a cat or dog. I do however miss my dog, CJ. Told her to find her ball. She found the exact spot she left it before it started snowing.

Was able to get by a different Ollie's today. They had a little different selection. Since I signed up for the Ollie's Army on my last visit, I got an additional 15% off today.

I usually just drive my work truck around, so my personal vehicles all end up with VERY low mileage. Had this for a few years. Fastest car I have owned. This is still in the trailer. Have owned it for about 25 years.

It has been happening for a good portion of the evening. Not sure if it is on Photobucket's side or the forum.

There are lots of current vehicles that meet the criteria you spelled out. The problem is 99.99% of the world's population cannot afford them. There are stunningly beautiful cars that start out upwards of $1 million. I find there are beautiful cars in every era. There are also some hideous looking vehicles in each era as well. I hope all cars don't end up looking like the Apple car. -

Seeing all of these wonderful saves inspired me to try and save some. They still may come out worse, hard to tell at this point.
