Looking for some screws that hold the chassis to the body on 1/24 scale NASCAR die cast cars. They are either Action or Lionel or Team Caliber. Over the years I have picked up some used cars on Ebay, etc and lots of times they are missing a screw so I am trying to dig up around 6 of them. I went to my Ace Hardware and the smallest they have is 4-40 so I need the next size down whatever that is. They are 1/4" long. Any ideas. I wrote to Lionel and they are out of the office till the end of August.

I ran one of the Chrysler Race Dynos back then at the Chrysler Tech Center in Highland Park, Michigan. After the 426 Hemi was banned, then re-instated , NASCAR said we could run a 405" engine for 1966. We ran various size engines to try to find the right engine for different tracks. We ran a 366", a 396" and a 404" Hemi variants and basically spent most of our time on the 404" engine. The 404" engine had a bigger bore than the 426" engine but a shorter stroke then the 426" engine and bigger valves than the 426' engine. I think we called this the A148 program but my memory fades right now. Some cars had 404 on the hood and some had 405. The legal displacement was 405 but most people ran 404 to give them a little leeway when it came to inspection. Like today the limit is 358 but almost everybody run a 355" engine.

Is the yellow on the rear a decal or did you have to paint it first? -

Saw this product being used on a You-Tube site (Nero 62 Custom Diecast) for polishing out plastic windshields on old die cast or model cars that have been faded out or damaged. I have a Mark Martin die cast that had some kind of spots all over the front and rear glass that wouldn't come out with any kind of standard cleaner. So I bought a bottle on Amazon for $8 and it worked GREAT. Hope this helps someone out there.

2002 Jimmy Johnson Rookie car. Limited edition for Lowes employees when Jimmy signed up. Came with a NASCAR template and a jack and of course the yellow rookie stripes on the rear bumper.

So what all of you are saying is let the cars race the way they come off the assembly line with their front and rear plastic bumpers and their V6 engines and their air bags and everybody will flock to the race tracks. You can't compare the cars of the 60's to todays vehicles. Things change and nothing can stop that.
