  1. Since the Revell 30 Ford doesn't have fenders maybe a 32 would be an easier build to achieve the look of this full fender gasser.
  2. Not at all distracting Ace! I love seeing other builders solutions and ways of doing things. Thanks for the support and inspiration.
  3. I made some progress on the gasser frame. All the elements have been built and test fit. It's ready for metalizer paint. Since the last update I made a rear crossmember and rear shock mounts, ladder bars are from the Revell 32 3 window coupe kit, and scratch built a set of wheelie bars. Scratch built a rear tube bumper and brackets. Up front I used the steering box from the Revell 32 3 window coupe and scratch built a cross steer set up. Front springs and axle are from the AMT 53 ford pickup. I scratch built a coupling for the steering arm to angle into the drivers compartment. scratch built front shocks and shock mounts and drilled holes in the frame to route brake lines.
  4. How did you arrive at the final arc of your springs to achieve the height you wanted?
  5. I live in Asheville and I'm not aware of a club here. We should start one
  6. Let us know what you dig up Jesse. I have often thought about a project involving 2 builds: a car in it's heyday and then the same car after the barn find. I think that would make a cool show display with them side by side.
  7. Pretty cool time capsule. This is from the Craigslist ad: 1930 Model A Ford gasser. This is not a recreation or modern interpretation. This car was pulled from its resting place in Jan 2016. It has sat (inside a barn) since 1968. This is the real deal. Last raced in 1968 at Bluegrass Dragway in Lexington KY. This is a central KY car. Again, its real. Car has title. I stress this was a real race car. This car ran in B or C supercharged. All memories of this car were lost to a house fire in the 80's in Winchester KY. This story can be and has been confirmed. If you are familiar with gassers on this side of the country this car was built along side the Rebel Rouser, also out of Winchester. Google search Rebel Rouser 427 Ford gasser. This car has only been in public only twice since 1968. Once at US60 Dragway for the straight axle race and Madison IN. memorial day car show. The car will stop people in their tracks. Engine is 327 Chevrolet. 671 supercharged and Hilborn injected. Block is a 62. Heads are 461 dated 1965. Edelbrock intake. Vertex Mag. Hilborn pump. Moon timing cover. Isky rev kit. Iskendarian Gilmore blower drive. Fuelie valve covers. Engine turns. Transmission is 4sp Hydromatic. May be B&M HydrostickRearend is 57 Chev with P case. Gear is 4:57Rear tires are original M&H from 1962 on custom widened steel wheels. Front wheels are Magnesium spindle mount AmericansFront fenders are glass. Rest of body is original metal.Steering gear is reversed Corvair.Interior is sparse. Has hoop roll bar with one leg to passenger side frame. Fiberglass seat "chair". Gauges are gone.Trunk is lined with heating metal. Battery mount is in trunk.Frame mounted hydraulic brake master cylinder.
  8. I ran across this and thought it would be a cool project http://cincinnati.craigslist.org/cto/5703320910.html
  9. I think wagon gassers are super cool, after some kit bashing this would make a good one. My expectations were higher, but I would pick it up if the price were right.
  10. I was really excited about this kit. Now, not so much. It's great having this info before spending the money. However, this kit in stock trim would be a cool tow car for a "Real" gasser and perhaps a few gasser parts could be used elsewhere.
  11. I'll be there! Excited to reconnect with the ol' ACME gang!!
  12. Here is a link to an unboxing of the kit. You can see all the gasser parts.
  13. Well, it was thrown in for free on top of a box full of rattle cans, (some unopened) so I'm not complaining. I do not currently have an airbrush. I was thinking of experimenting with the cheapo badger unless you guys tell me it's not worth my time.
  14. I know it's probably junk, but my neighbor gave me a 250 Badger and a can of compressed air. Are there any advantages of using this over rattle cans? Any specific applications that they come in handy?
  15. Very nice. Which brand of rust colored primer is that? The finish on the exhaust is great.
  16. the first photo. The rake looks more balanced with that wheel and tire combo
  17. Love this build. Perfect stance, great weathering. Very cool
  18. Not a huge update, but I will be away on vacation next week so I didn't want the thread to go stale. I built some shock mounts on the rear end and scratchbuilt a shock. 3 more to go! It may be a little off in scale but it was super fun to build and I can adjust them to fit the height I need. The pencil line opposite the top of the axel will be where I put a cross bar with the 2 mounts for the shocks. On another note, I've been considering using 2 carbs on the blown hemi instead of injectors. still on the fence so you guys can help me make up my mind.
  19. I guess it's possible to run a belt driven fuel pump and keep the water pump in place, but I have not seen pics of that. Another option is to switch the injectors for carbs and use a mechanical fuel pump but I'm not sure where those are located on a 392 hemi.
