To answer your question about the interior and chassis, yes, it can help, depending on how the body is warped. I haven't built one of these Firebirds, but I did have an AMT '65 Pontiac Bonneville with a warped body. I didn't try any tricks to straighten it up. When it came time to do final assembly, I just spread the fenders and bottom edges of the doors, and the interior tub went in fine. The chassis slipped right in, and the front bumper/grille helped to tweak the front fenders into place. I hope this helps!!

I'm not prone to do the Super-Detailing bit on my builds, but I try to build a realistic model, whether it's a factory stock, custom, or racecar. (Of course, it's only the Chevy models I'm afraid wouldn't run!) HAHAHAHA

Testors Lacquer removal
Bucky replied to Bryan Brogan's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I know of a car model builder elsewhere who uses Krud Kutter to remove paint and chrome plating with success. not sure about the primer, tho. -
I'd love to see Revell backdate the '67 Dodge Coronet to a 1966 Coronet 500 convertible, albeit for selfish reasons. I owned the real thing from 1984 up 'til 1994. Plus, I don't think there was ever a '66 kitted. It's sort of a missing link in the "B" body Coronet kit lineup, unless you come up to the '71 thru '76.

What Model Is Your Sentimental Favorite And Why?
Bucky replied to 93Z34's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I have a lot of favorites that I have built, for various reasons, but since this topic is for sentimental models, it would be this one: My stepson owned one of these 454SS trucks. I grabbed an AMT kit, and built this for his birthday. I basically built it box-stock, as his truck was unaltered. I shot TESTORS black enamel on it in one coat. I was shocked to see how well it came out! I didn't even put any clear on it! I just polished it with Micro Gloss polish. When he passed away in 2003, his dad gave the model back to me. I have it in a clear AMT showcase, in the display cabinet for safe keeping. -

This is what happens when an Open Road Camper rear ends a Ghostbuster Ambulance: The camper is the re-issue from AMT. The Caddy is from Polar Lights. A fun project for me! -
I was able to attend a show back in 2000 at Macomb. Was it called NNL back then? Great bunch of vendors! I found my first '68 Imperial Crown promo there.

I have a lot of 'em, Bruce! It's just hard to get 'em out thru the thick skull plates!!!

Can you fuse two cars together?

There is some amazing work going on in the scale world!! All it takes is an imagination! (Or, a sick mind!) I so want to see that Studebenz Gull Wing finished!!! -
I will definitely strip it. This is the first one I can remember that was sticky. I got a gluebomb Dodge one time that had yellow paint that was about a mile thick. Two weeks in the brake fluid was required for that one. I usually don't have to wait that long with the brake fluid! LOL
-
I have a 'gluebomb" I'm working on that was brush painted with gold paint. It's a '67 Cougar body, probably painted way back when!! While doing the cut work on this body, I kept noticing my fingers keep sticking to the paint, and it ain't 'cause I got grape jelly on 'em!!HAHAHA I don't see any signs of primer under the gold, and the silver on the inside of the body isn't sticky. Have you guys got any ideas about what causes the stickiness?

Another kitbash I did: I call this one "Grand Camino". I took a Monogram Buick Grand National front clip, front and rear wheel wells, interior, turbo V-6, and wheels, and mated them to a Monogram ElCamino from the Bass Boat kit. Sorry for the dark pics. It makes me realize, I need to take some more pics of this! When I do, I'll change out the pics in this post. -
Yeah...try putting "Cougar" in Google search without the "Mercury" in front of it!!! LOL

The ElDobeamer looks elegant, and classy. The little Porsche looks like an affordable sports car. But that Lambo 300 is outrageous!!! All three of these are great examples of kitbashing!! Beautifully done!! -
I've kitbashed a few using those very questions! LoL

So, as you can see, it can, and has been done. The major part is thinking it out before hacking plastic! -
I didn't want to call it a Cougar, so I renamed it. LOL
-
Here is a rough look at what it looks like: After bunches of filing, and sanding, and filing, and sanding, the Mustang top fits fairly well: This is where it stands, at the moment. My next move is to remove the hand-brushed gold paint, which is still tacky! I have no idea how long this has been painted, but it's evident there is no primer under the gold. I think the plastic is going to be okay, but I'll know more after I get it cleaned up. Thanks for checking it out, everybody!!

I have had this idea kicking around in my small brain for a while: So, I came up with a couple "gluebomb" Cougars: And an open box '68 Shelby Mustang: I used my favorite "destruction" tools, and did some plastic surgery:

I stopped using PB a few years back when they had a major hiccup. My photos are still there, but I have also copied them to Fotki. A lot of my posts from the past have the ugly PB disclaimer pic. I may, or may not fix those, it depends on what kind of free time I have. I have a forum that is suffering from the PB mess, as well. I delete these threads as I find them, only if the member has long since disappeared, or has asked me to delete. I've even seen a lot of businesses that use PB, and their sites are covered in those PB "third party hosting" pics! I would say, most probably some businesses bit the bullet and paid the ransom, but I'm not a business man, I'm a hobbyist!! LOL
