Very nice! looks like the 50 year wait to find the right subject to use the Cal Custom scoops was worth the wait! The linkage looks to be spot on scale wise, a feat that most fall short.

I may be wrong! There could be enough room for 4 or possibly 5 fifty’s MoPars!Now to get busy and get them built!

A few pics with a load on. I was disappointed that it is not all that big and looks like it will not hold 4 mid to late 50’s Mopars as I had hoped. Can you imagine backing that Plymouth up the ramps?!Not much room for a big car here. The pickup fits well in that spot but it had to ride on the tailgate since it was the only vehicle with “parking brakes!”😁

Thanks. It wasn’t really much. Just a box stock build. It was the first semi trailer I built. I was most concerned about it going together with all the sides squaring up. As it turned out that was not a problem. Finding a place to build something so big seemed to be the biggest challenge! The washer & dryer worked well when there was no laundry to do. 🙂 Thanks to Snake I gotter done!

Gotter done just under the wire! Have to find some red side markers as the ones in the kit are too small. Also have to decide on a license plate. More pics after I get a load on.

Thanks, Tom. I also have to figure out a way to get the up position feet to stay in place. Once I get it assembled I thought I might try a rubberized finish on the inserted end of the feet to get a friction hold that can be easily done & undone.

Checking in with an update on the auto transport trailer. The instructions call for the landing gear to be glued in either up or down position. I need it to be adjustable so I increased the height of the “feet” so they will extend into their towers. This should offer enough stability to support the trailer while allowing the feet to be switched out. Things were going along smoothly & the 1st coat of the final round of paint was hung up to dry when tragedy struck!The floor/chassis was accidentally knocked off its perch & broke in two! And although it broke where the 2 piece floor was glued together it wasn’t quite a clean break as it was assembled with tube glue. The mounting/ alignment tabs also broke.I managed to glue it back together and added a few strips of styrene for strength. I believe I was successful in getting an acceptable final coat of paint on last night & have only to piece it all together.

I like the stance & the louvers really give a whole different look. Very cool!

I have been working on the AMT auto transport trying to clean up some of the flaws that are apparent in the mold. The pieces molded in gray represent the “before” image. I am going to build up these tabs to give me a more positive mounting surface and hopefully help address the warp in the side pieces as well as help control the general flimsy wiggle when its time to glue them together. This kit is ancient and the reason I put it up after starting it was due to warped parts. I put it in the box in a manner to allow the parts to lay flatter and after 30(?) years or so they don’t seem as warped as I remember them. I have been working with the warp in the upper deck with some success and having longer more robust mounting tabs to glue to should help. But the hinged deck part will be a challenge. It will not set flat on its stops (tabs) unless I can get the warps out. A car sitting on it would probably hold it in place however! 😏

That’s one good looking ride! The engine bay is very convincing, right down to the wrinkled decal on the radiator support. (I’m still not sure that’s not a 1:1 engine bay.🤔😁)Great job!

I had this in mind for the next BOYD round I hadn’t worked on this trailer in 15(?) years, until I had given up hope for a new BOYD round & primered the underside of the lower deck just this morning!? Will that disqualify me?AMT Auto Transport I plan is to use it as display & eventually get a Dodge tractor under it.

I’m guessing this thread has died. The op has not started a new round that would have started on New Year’s Day. He required a minimum number of participants per round and apparently there were not enough. Sad as this had been one of the most productive & interesting threads on the site.
