  1. Many thanks, Bob..... If you see this image as being quite realistic, then I am happy ! David
  2. I used a toothpick / cocktail stick to apply some Vallejo Polished Gold acrylic onto ' Firestone ' tyre lettering, for my Lotus F1 car in 1:12 scale. This procedure does take a long time and a steady hand though, so I am always on the lookout for alternative methods ! All the suggestions in this topic are useful, so thanks guys. David
  3. Okay, Pat....... I think you are right, the diorama must be 1:12 because of the fine detail on the kit boxes, for example. Incredible, none the less. David
  4. I just had a look at the photo of ' The Hobby Room ' using Microsoft Paint, and when you zoom in to take a closer look..... there is a small diorama of what appears to be a kitchen on the workbench to the left. Then when you look down to the floor in the bottom left corner..... you can see bits of plastic and those dropped parts that you cannot find when you are building a model....... this is absolutely mind blowing !!! I would love to lnow what scale this is ? Surely it must be 1:24 ? David
  5. Nicely done diorama, Fabrizio....... I like to see the Group B rally cars being driven on the limit, and your scale model diorama has captured the moment. Brilliant !!! David
  6. Patrice........ I have joined the Roadside Relic dioramas on Facebook as a member. I can see at first glance there is some good work being shown. Thank you. David
  7. Many thanks !
  8. ' Stolen '...... Would I be able to ' steal ' from the same source ? David
  9. That must surely rate as the most incredible diorama that I have seen..... The small boy standing up close to the models on the bench, standing on his toes, and the young lady taking a photograph of the workbench scene is also very strong...... while the elderly gentleman who is presumably the model builder himself, is standing back to let the younger ones have a closer look. The composition of the whole scenario is absolutely perfect. One day, I would love to get somewhere near to this standard of diorama building....... this is something to aim for, certainly. Do you happen to know who has built this diorama, Pat ? David
  10. Thank you, Pat....... I have enhanced my first photograph of the scene by adding some light to the second one, and then taking away some of the clarity from the third photograph. I am quite pleased with the final image, as it has achieved the level of realism that I was seeking. David
  11. I have not posted on this topic for a while now, due to various distractions that have included building a 3D printed 1:20 scale Red Bull F1 car and a Tamiya 1:12 scale Lotus 49B , also an F1 car. Yet a further distraction has been a 1:24 scale Rolls-Royce Merlin V12 engine, which is currently being assembled from 57 parts that I have 3D printed...... However, I have found some time to photograph a scene on the 1:43 scale diorama. Sadly, a member of the board of directors at Hooper & Co. (Coachbuilders) Ltd. has passed away recently, and the entourage of funeral cars is moving slowly through the gateway outside the Hooper & Co. factory. Walking in front of the Austin Princess hearse there is a sombre gentleman wearing a top hat, and immediately behind the hearse there is an Austin Princess limousine. It is early morning, and the Autumn sun is low in the cloudy sky. Factory workers are driving past as they arrive for the early shift, while some employees are arriving by bus. Here is........... ' Through the Gateway ' David
  12. Big thanks to Dave and all of his team....... I really like this website and the forums, and in fact I liked it all the very first time that I discovered MCM. Thank you for providing us with such a friendly and helpful environment in which to interact, regarding our wonderful hobby that covers the building of scale model cars and dioramas, and everything else model cars related. Your efforts to maintain an extremely well run venture of this size and longevity are much appreciated by all members, including myself. David Watson ( England )
  13. Well Rodolfo, that is a really nice build of the Ford GT40....... When it comes to weathering, I am always too scared to try any weathering experiments on a model that I am happy with. I understand how weathering could make a brilliant model even more brilliant, but I cannot take the risk of messing up all my good work ! David
  14. Nice clear distinction between the cream body and the red chassis, Mark, that shows you how good the fit is. Some areas may not fit so well ! David
  15. Business as usual ! Well established shop with strong foundations. David
  16. Well said, that man ! David
  17. Okay, thank you Peter...... I hadn't intended my comment to be educational, it was merely quoting a definition of the word in question. Not my definition, and probably not accurate. I do tend to believe Wikipedia and Google, but not to the extent that I don't use my own common sense. No hard feelings eh? We fellow members at MCM have a shared common interest in all things related to model cars, and as long as we stick to the wonderful hobby that we all enjoy, all the other stuff ( such as ' Likes ' ) are there for teenagers. We are mostly mature gentlemen, who should know better, my friend ! David
  18. Sorry chaps, but I am not happy about being accused of trolling...... that is something that I would never do. As Josh stated so clearly : " My understanding of the actual internet definition of trolling is that one has to have malicious intent to disrupt or cause harm to the forum community or an individual of the forum. " I think I will stay within the Model Cars W.I.P. section and also the W.I.P. Dioramas section, rather than get distracted by this How To Use This Board section. What seemed to be a bit of fun soon developed into something else...... I am not a TROLL. The Google definition of ' Like ' is referring to the English word ' Like ', and not the Facebook, Chat, Social Media meaning of ' Like '. Many young people in this country will throw in the word ' Like ' every few sentences, just like some email messages have ' LOL ' at the end of of every other sentence. David
  19. Thanks, Bob...... I just copied and pasted the text from a Google search.... " Like " Lazy, I know..... Does that make me a hypocrite ? David
  20. How to: Stop Saying “Like” and Immediately Sound Smarter Learn how to use "like" correctly. ... Pause when you would say "like." ... Ask others to help you. ... Record yourself. ... Replace "like" with another word. ... Know the most common ways "like" is misused. ... Learn new words. ... Challenge yourself David ( the last post..... Not )
  21. I like your very realistic rust effect work, Keith......... You must be pleased with the end result. Most unusual model too ! Well done and thanks for posting your topic. David
  22. Okay, Christophe....... and good luck with your project. David
  23. Agreed, Steve...... Thanks. David
  24. No, we don't have to be all done..... it was just a humorous expression ! Sorry. David
