  1. Thanks, Bill. I had a partial can of maroon and with so little to paint I decided to use it. I kinda wish I painted it a brighter color, but this works okay...
  2. Those of you that may not be familiar with these little cars, a Fad-T (so named in the 60's) is the most basic and ridiculous of all street rods. They're based on a Model T body (most often a fiberglas replica) with motorcycle front wheels/tires and oversized rear wheel/tire combo powered with an over-the-top huge motor. This is a somewhat modern version of one. I kept it as fairly basic build, as such, no wiring, linkages, etc.... -body from the venerable AMT kit. -shortened pickup bed from the Monogram Ed 'Big Daddy' Roth Tweedy Pie kit. -engine from the Revell Rat Roaster kit (with a different transmission since I had pirated that for another build. -frame scratched together from Evergreen rectangles. -front suspension from the Slingster kit. -Rear wheels and tires from the Revell '41 Willys street rod kit. -ragtop from the Monogram Black Widow kit, much modified. -paint is Testors Extreme Mythical Maroon and Tamiya black. -other bits and pieces from the ole parts box of goodies.... Thanks for looking.... -RRR
  3. I have purchased several of these kits over the years but I have never built one. I'm looking forward to seeing yours come together. Carry on.... -RRR
  4. Oh sure, blame me!!! J/K, I'm already looking at options. I'm surprised that the rules forbid Model A wire wheels. I wonder why that is? -RRR
  5. I like it! Looking forward to seeing more! -RRR
  6. Love me some A/FX action! Looking forward to seeing this one progress.... -RRR
  7. Holy fright! That pic of your truck sent a shiver down my spine. It's a testament to how well made vehicles are now that you're still with us. You have some serious talent shown in your builds. As others have said, model building is good therapy. I've been through a few wrecks, including one that smashed up my right elbow, now held together with a rod and screws. It will never be 100%, but keep on your therapy and I hope you can maintain a positive attitude. You'll make it! Let us know how you progress and godspeed. -RRR
  8. I'm in. Thinking of a stripped down T frame with as little as possible on it. Maybe a driver figure? ? -RRR
  9. I'm up for a community build! I'm already envisioning another build.... -RRR
  10. Definitely some kool stuph going on here. I tried working in brass once, abject failure, burned through the brass! I guess I'll stick to plastic.... -RRR
  11. I've used lids from metal containers for bases a couple of times....painted up to simulate asphalt...not very fancy... -RRR
  12. No, this is based on the Rat Roaster kit. Looks similar, but a new tooling, new body, new frame, new wheels and tires, SBC with blower... This is the box art for the Rat Roaster kit which has been now updated with new parts, interior, limefire style headers and DuVall windshield are the main new parts... still waiting for the new kit to arrive stateside.. This is the box art for the 'new' version of the kit.... -RRR
  13. I just finished this one for an in-progress Fad T. --------- not totally scratch built, rails form the Revell '32 series... ------- perimeter frame for a belly tanker... --------- another simple T style frame for a single seater runabout... ------ started with a set of '32 style frame rails, front quarter ellipticals with a 4-bar rear... ------------------- I guess you get the idea, basic hot rod frames, nothing too exotic. Lots of biuldup pix here: https://public.fotki.com/jferren/ -RRR
  14. I use bent common pins for the bolts... -RRR
  15. Let's go to the beach!! Nice weathering job. -RRR
  16. I prefer kits that have "cool" parts I can pirate for my next (mostly hot rod) build. Some may wonder why I'd buy such a "weird" kit, but you'd be very surprised (well, maybe you wouldn't) the parts you can find in some kits that are very useful. To me, a kit is a box of parts.... -RRR
  17. This looks like an interesting kit. It would definitely lend itself to weathering/use to make it look authentic (when have you ever seen a clean trash truck, LOL?). Perhaps your grandson has a future in the waste management consulting business (ala Tony Soprano)? Just kidding.... -RRR
  18. I like it, a nice kitbash! -RRR
  19. I use gaffers tape for the belts. It's black, sticks to the seat and has a weave pattern on it. A roll will last you several lifetimes. https://www.amazon.com/Premium-Non-Reflective-Electrical-Photographers-Waterproof/dp/B07R9T4JRL/ref=asc_df_B07R9T4JRL/?tag=&linkCode=df0&hvadid=343404280039&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=651352557944873553&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9011866&hvtargid=pla-765232642539&ref=&adgrpid=69132839716&th=1 -RRR
  20. Awesomer!!!! Power to weight ratio is off the charts!!!! -RRR
  21. You're welcome! As Snake would say, "Model on"!!!! -RRR
