  1. What a gorgeous picture! Haven't seen it before. Do you have it bigger? I see: Marmon, one of Franchitti's car (2010?), AJ Foyt '61 Mears '79, Maserati '39-'40, Al Unser's '70 Parnelli Jones '63, Arie Luyendyk's '90, Maurie Rose 47 or 48 Johnny Rutherford's '80 (not sure if it was called "yellow submarine" back then, or if that started later with Mears) behind it is Foyt's 64? hard to see but I think I see Jim Clark's '65 Lotus that big #8 in the back is most likely the 1912 National? I also see a Miller but can't tell from the pic. Is that Foyt's 77 way back and Mario's '69 in front of the big #8? What else do you see?
  2. Hello, There are 2 days of work here, and I am at 20% or less decal completion. These pinstripes are a pain. Have I ever mentioned I hate decals? By the way, my strategy for this build has a serious flaw but it is too late. My original intention is to paint the black trim AFTER the decals were clearcoated. This is because I plan to use acrylics for the black as those are more forgiving to errors and corrections. Too late now but I think I should have painted the black trim with lacquer before the decals. I have no choice now other than follow my original plan but that is a self inflicted bumpy road course ahead. Thanks, Ismael
  3. Hello, Just moving along. On its way but still a long way to go before paint. Thanks, Ismael
  4. Thanks Jimmy! The kit comes with a beautiful rearview mirror. It is quite delicate and fragile so I am treating it very gently. Thanks, Ismael
  5. Hello, Not much progress because of life important milestones, like my son's wedding coming up on Saturday! But I want to stand corrected: I previously reported Corvette Millennium yellow was pretty close to the Wasp Yellow formula from Michael using Mr. Hobby paints. While the bottles look very similar, here is a test with both, same pack of spoons, same primer, same clear in harsh bright tropical sunlight. Thanks, Ismael
  6. Thank you Steve! You never have enough reference pictures. I'd love to go to the new museum. Haven't been there since 2005. I am currently working on 2 other Indy cars now: the Marmon Wasp and Rick Mears '88 winner. Check them out if you haven't already.
  7. Hello, I am happy with the stain, the nick and the rust spot in this massive axle beam. Solid and fine, but certainly not pristine. It has seen at least 500 miles of action. Thanks, Ismael
  8. Hello, Do you believe me if I say I'm happy so far? Body is not fixed. Just in place for the picture. Thanks, Ismael
  9. Hello, I was hoping the wash would lighten up but it turned out way too dark. Drybrushed metallic gun metal. Looks good but way too dark. Will let it sit overnight and will try to carefully rub it out. Worst case I may need to repaint it... Untouched left side. Thanks, Ismael
  10. I KNEW something was not quite right but couldn't pin-point what it was! Thank you!
  11. Hello, I got a bagged AMT kit of the '63 Indy winner Watson roadster driven by Parnelli Jones. I originally intended to convert it to a '61: A.J. Foyt's first victory. But it seems it will be easier to convert it to a '64: Foyt's second victory and the last win by a front engine car. I want to do a Foyt's winning car. Looking at pictures of both '63 and '64 winning cars, other than the obvious decals which I can get from Indycals, wheels, tires, dual shocks front suspension and roll bar support, this is what I have seen is needed so far. About the oil tank on the side: A.J. Foyt qualified with the extra capacity external oil tank, but it was removed for the race. I want to replicate the car as it finished the race with the associated weathering, which is not much really. I haven't yet taken a deep look into the cockpit. Any experts here that can chime in? Thanks, Ismael
  12. Hello, This is a test: Since this will be a curbside, all the attention is on fit and finish. Modified this side... so this can be fitted here instead of there... You get the idea where this is going. A bit more fiddling here before replicating on the other side. Thanks, Ismael
  13. Hello, Very slow but progress nonetheless... Habemus Colorus! Thanks, Ismael
  14. Hello, It may not look like much but there are some hours of work here... and many more to go. Thanks, Ismael
  15. I believe both PC-17: the Pennzoil (Rick Mears) and the Miller (Danny Sullivan) are the same kit with different decals. Get either one, toss the decals and get a proper set from Indycals. As you can see this one is molded in yellow but I think the Miller is molded in white. Thanks, Ismael
  16. Hello, This is a "simple" build (curbside) that requires a lot of work. This is a fitting battle. Remove material here, add material there. Rinse and repeat. Veeeery far from seeing a drop of paint and decals. Thanks, Ismael
  17. Thanks! I am considering that, but I'm trying to keep this one "simple". I did that on 2 others that have been stalled for years. This will most likely be a curbside. For my glacier pace building, this would be a "quickie". Thanks, Ismael
  18. Hello, Modifying the tub... The idea is to glue the top and bottom halves so the seams can be worked. (1) The tub can be installed from the back (2) The front wings were also separated so the can be installed afterwards (3) Thanks, Ismael
  19. Hello, Shhh, I am wowking vewy vewy slow. I don't want to get stung by a wasp. Thanks, Ismael
  20. Hello, Just so I can officially say it is started: Thanks, Ismael
  21. Thank you everybody! The confusion on the wheels: The car was qualified and started the race with the aero hubcaps (three holes, not 6 like the kit). But during the race they changed to regular wheels. I think it was the first or second pit stop. The car finished the race with the regular wheels. I think Unser's car ran the whole race with the caps. Thanks, Ismael
  22. Why do you say that? I've only done the yellow C6R, the yellow C7R, working on the yellow Marmon Wasp and now... ohhhh..... you may be right!!! 🤣
  23. Hello, This is a placeholder for an upcoming project: Rick Mears 1988 Indy 500 winner. This was a year of total domination. Penske swept the front row with their PC17 chassis powered by the Ilmor-Chevy Indy engine. Rick Mears won the pole and all 3 Penske Cars dominated the race. Rick Mears went on to get his 3rd Indy 500 victory. In the past, I got hung up on 3 other Indy car projects. I wanted to do so much detail that all 3 eventually got stalled. This will be different. My intention is to make a nice simple curbside model. No working features or super ultra detailing anything. Wish me luck. I'll use the AMT PC-17 kit. I just glued the two engine halves as the official "start". And already replaced the kit's driveshafts with tubing. This will be a long term project. Thanks, Ismael
  24. Hello, All non-body parts that go body color have been painted. Plus the inside of the wheels. Next: outside of the wheels and body. But I noticed I still need to do some minor prep work on the body before color. Thanks, Ismael
