  1. First coat of yellow! I'm planning on a light sanding, then a light coat. Avoiding exotic paint. Another beautiful day for the solar drying booth. ?
  2. Outstanding paint work! Welcome to the forum too.
  3. Nice patina job on that work truck! My dad had a '72, sort of tempting to get this....
  4. That hose detail cracks me up! I'm to the point of organizing my Evergreen too, someday. I'm really liking Tamiya primer. Most Ferraris are red, this looks pretty good in white. Assembled the fire extinguisher tonight.
  5. After some heavy sanding the transition areas, sprayed #2 primer this morning. Set inside the pickup cab to cure. Still needed to work on the transition areas, sprayed #3 primer tonight. Assembled the Hobby Design fire extinguisher. It's a model by itself. Think this location is better than the floor. Looks pretty good in white, but I'm bored with white because my real car is pearl white. ?
  6. Yesterday I was listening to the local music radio station, you know how they have to talk about something between songs...... someone did a study that says doing a task that takes your mind away from Covid stress, is helpful. Of all the hobbies out there, he said 'like build model cars'. Not tanks, airplanes, ships, rockets, figures, dioramas, CARS. So I had to send a Fakebook message.
  7. legal non-binary gobbledygook
  8. The cockpit air intake trumpets seem to be exactly the correct height, so if I dropped the body down those would need modification. I'm not about to tear apart the engine now. For anyone else who wants to build this, take notice. I sort of want to just finish it, otherwise it will end up with the other WIP. Shoot, I might as well buy those models, that one is fabulous. Cool picture, but it is on the outside of the curve with body roll. ?
  9. That's what I suspected. The rear vents are different on that car.
  10. Don't recall posting in this thread.... so many can do a better job than me. Still my favorite, built last century, and never eclipsed.
  11. Nice job, very cool you got around to making the model. I have several in the stash of cars I owned, someday. You going to build a if-I-was-loaded-it-would-be-killer?
  12. Was hoping to get the body painted this weekend, but no...... ? Took two steps back, was never happy with the hood hinge, completely redid it. Assembled the wire wheels, wanted to see how the body sits on the chassis, I'm wondering why it sits so high. Sanded down some interior tub areas which helped a little. Concerned about the gauge pod and windshield clearance. Sprayed the first coat of primer, a quick mist which showed all the blemishes. Also realized I didn't finish the windshield post. Added putty where required. Added fuel lines, battery cables, and revised the sump tank filler again. Used the cordless drill to make the fuel filter. The bottom is clear, doesn't show very well here. Know I'm missing the fuel pump and a bunch of other components, I just wanted enough eye candy to fill the engine bay.

  15. I went into a deep trance, and manifested it. I made it with a tiny spring so it actually hula-hubbas. ? Got this far last night. Some more detailing before doing the body.
  16. That's one version I don't have. Built the Texaco edition and two others (I should take a better picture of it). Look forward to your project! BTW: Welcome to the forum. ?
  17. Bulldozers for Merlins. ?
  18. I'm sort of familiar with ZAP, use it instead of Testors. BTW: be sure to switch the driveshaft around, the instructions are incorrect. I'm thinking of throwing my Testors into a fire and see what happens. ?
  19. Thanks for watching the video. ?
  20. Since this isn't going to be an authentic replica, wanted to see what Daytona mags look like. Makes me think 'kit car'. ? Pulled out the other kits in the stash, the Fujimi has coolant hoses, the Protar does not. The difference in what is detailed, missing, different between the kits is a bit overwhelming. I just want eye candy. Made a starter, using the cordless drill and Tamiya scriber. What I would say is a thermostat housing on a Chevy 350 was made. Other details are pointed out. Glued the engine in, interior to the chassis, and the last parts. Made a cross bar brace, which should get airbrush painted. Now the exhaust headers are in, had to reconfigure the battery and sump tank filler. Added coolant hoses and oil lines. Exhaust pipes are glued on. Needed to add a steel clamp at the back to hold the chassis down. Have a model meeting tomorrow, this is a good point to show how nuts I am. ?
