Doing deck additions is a PITA anymore, if the existing house has 4x4 posts, the new addition or replacement needs to be 8x8, or fire retardant treated lumber. Fire Marshal said it costs only a little more, yea right.

The heater control lever was broken, so removed the whole unit, will get a repo someday. So those blocks are connected to the heater valve cable. It's a 51 year old pickup, sunbaked for sure.

It sure depends on who is selling. I lurked for this one, I know better than to click the 'watching' button. I set my phone alarm, so watched for about 15 minutes, saw no activity, pounced with one minute to spare. Looking forward to actually seeing and touching these.

Finally clicked on this build, seen this guy somewhere before.... where was that? Will be checking in to see how you deal with things. So far, it's similar to my Porndy build, filling gaps, screwing sub assemblies together. Looking perfect as usual so far.

I added something that was not on the list. There was a huge void under the hood, thought a spare tire would fit. Scrounged the parts box, found what I needed: Monogram Pirelli P7, removed the inside disk portion. Fujimi Mercedes 190 wheel, more like hubcap, drilled out the lug nuts and center hole. AMT wheel from the 250SWB, removed the horrid wires and hub, cut to depth. Made the mount from flashing aluminum, which is thicker and shinier than the newspaper printing plate that I like to use. Made a cardboard pattern, then bent the aluminum. A couple of photo-etch bolt heads, and steel from the electronic part used for the tow hook. Sprayed flat clear with a drop of leather brown on the tire and under the car. I know this adds weight, but fills that space like I planned it.

I bought an '87 Si off the showroom floor, served me well. I got the Tamiya kit when they were on the shelves, had no idea they would become collector items. If you can get one for $50, it would be a deal.

Thank you! Thank you too! Well, 98% complete. I ordered lug nuts from Australia, and someone is sending number decals. I had to grind/sand the belly at the front, to get it off the ground. I could say it has air suspension, that is adjustable, this is the lowest car I have built. I've also been tweaking, and touch-up painting, and adding small things when I see it would help, such as insulation near the exhaust pipes. Also having storage issues with my iPhone, so can't take pictures, and the Nikon 300mm zoom lens is not working for this task, extremely short depth of field.

I was intending to do a hot rod, but decided not to because it's such a nice kit. The BTCC came with the factory mirrors, put them on another project.

I had ordered the photo-etch detail parts some time ago, might as well show them here. I've detailed door panels on other projects, it's not difficult.

Is there such a thing as a sheet of generic numbers in different sizes, to make race car door number plates? I don't want fancy font.
