I've looked through parts boxes, and give up. That's just like the real thing, fake it until you make it! You did a great job engineering that, other than the exhaust tip under the big hole in the floor. ? Love the result on the patina. The Lil'John's came from the Model T kit, which I did last century.

Save that 1/20 kit, I'm sure it's much more collectible than this. Hey, of course. But Craig Hewitt IPMS is coming up. Thank you! Oh no! ? Didn't "mean" to do that! ? You remember any issues that I should take note of? ? Yes, the engine should go into a Fat Fender hot rod. ? Thanks for the input. I would like to avoid the tires just because they reacted with the plastic, I have a military model that the tires literally have melted the wheels. Think someone on Shapeways has one, I know only because I've got the Mercedes C111 that's a future Bring Back Your Dead project. It's a good idea, just not for me. Anyone who built one, is welcome to post pictures here. I might start a pool, bet when I actually start, and perhaps finish it. ?

I know right? They collapse when stacked too, just to be REALLY annoying. That's what I thought. ? I just had the same "quote" thing on another thread, finally was able to delete it, screw it. Too bad Ron Mayer cancelled their Escape The Blaze, not enough people committed to it, they would casually say they were interested, but didn't pull the plug. "Normal" people get the heck out of Feenicks and come up just because this is below broiling temperature in the mountains, and get in our way on the roads. If you know someone, PM me. ?

After posting earlier, been thinking that I should confess. When I see a model that I have in my stash that someone built, my comment shows as _____, the unspoken part is [_____]. I'm not learned in psychology, but you know there is more to it. For example: It's great to see this built [because the box buried deep in my dark closet doesn't do anything for me], you did a fine job [because I'm just jealous that you were able to build the darned thing], nice color [even though I would have picked RED and done a fabulous job], like the extra detail [because if I added details, it would *never* get done]. Good job! [because this isn't Fakebook where I can just click ? or ?]

I'm still young at heart, less than 60 but it's approaching fast! Cataloging the collection, that will give you time to reflect on each one, perhaps start different piles based on value and quality. I would dump the Crayon ones, sounds like a fire hazard. ? Pricing them is a completely objective thing, but would note the valuable rare ones. I've been giving more thought along these lines too. Have sold some, but for some reason more show up, just different. ? I would rather sell my house and get an RV, travel around, and build at night, to piddle away my last days. Later.....

My two cents (two dollars now thanks to inflation). I'm my worst critic, I know when something isn't perfect, yes I'm a perfectionist, with a severe case of OCD when I'm in full obsessed and possessed building mode. I never expect everyone else to be on my same level. I limit myself, by telling myself that I will never match Gerald Windgrove in scratch-building, or others in shear brilliant execution *and* production volume, or several others here that blow me away. I see some have in their initial post that they welcome input, that shows they are willing to learn something. I tend to learn the hard way, but have gleaned some good information from others on this forum. I don't leave PC participation trophy comments, unless it's a subject that I like, and feel like being nice and encouraging newbies, I didn't have this when I was starting out. So just roll with it, that's life on planet Earth.

Since everyone is getting excited about Chevrolet finally producing a mid-engine Corvette, dragged this Aerovette out to take a look. It was 1980 (39 years ago) when they ditched the wankel engine and put in a proper V8. I like the design, including the Jalousie windows, and you can see some styling cues were carried into the production cars. Revell produced this in 1998. It's typical Revell quality, some flash, simplified parts, but what is most annoying is the folding box! ? But it does have the highway for display. ? The usual amount of parts. Turbine wheels, not really defined enough at first glance. Now this is what ticks me off about how Revell packaged their kits, I bought it sealed, figuring it could be somewhat collectible. Read about "tire burn" in this forum, opened it up and sure enough. ? I don't want to spend a lot of time correcting or detailing this, just want to build Box Stock. Would replacing the window with sheet plastic disqualify for such a contest class? It would take a bunch of sanding and polishing to fix this, and cause distortion. Have the Bring Out Your Dead project to finish, before I dive into this. Also thinking of painting copper, since I live in Arizona. ?

Thanks for saying that! I know right? Thanks man! Thank you! I'm trying to psych myself to resume on this puppy. ?

"Bring Out Your Dead" Completion Build--ROUND 2 Is On!
89AKurt replied to Snake45's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Every time I get on this forum, this thread shows up, and a little voice says "what about ME?" ? I've started, AND finished, a few projects since I touched the '48 Chevy Canopy Express. I set it on the bench yesterday, and looked at it for about 90 seconds. I know what needs to get done, the floor, the rail edge (tubing is the plan) and jamb edges. I saw another project, with a shot much like this picture, but it has a floor. ? I've used the Stealth Indy Pace Car for trying out a patina finish, now I know that I should use crushed Himalayan salt. ? I'm capable of kit-bashing incongruent subjects, that are more radical than this, one being a resin body, so no excuse to *not* finish this!!!! ? Now I have the end of this month for the deadline. ⏱️ There is the Phoenix IPMS show November 2, so it would be nice to have another entry. I'm on a roll of building, need to keep up steam....... -

What'll be the next pickup from Moebius?
89AKurt replied to Jim H.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Personally, a much better modern kit of the '67-'72 Chevy, with separate chassis, and correct taillights, would be a hit. Classic Dodge Sweptside would be cool. WW2 Dodge Powerwagen, I know there *was* a resin kit, good luck finding one. The old Federal and Diamond T would be different. -

DITTO! Someone suggested the MCG - Chevelle for the CHEVROLET letters, otherwise nothing available. -

? No way! ? Me too, I bookmarked this! Was*, I have a friend, when he was growing up in Prescott, saw his shop. I would need to learn how to paint, and he carved the animals from wood. I do a better job on vegetation, he just cut paper. http://www.askart.com/artist/Runar_Rodell/129956/Runar_Rodell.aspx -

BINGO! ? I owned a '69, now a '68 which is my favorite, though before either I liked the '72. -
'68-72 Chevy PickUp rummors about reissue?
89AKurt replied to Sergey's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
OMG hope not, I've spent a few bucks collecting some. ? IMHO seeing the "reproduced from official factory prints" is a joke, the tailights are horrid, the chassis is toy-like, typical of the day. If anyone bothered to do it right, they would start from scratch. Otherwise, keeping my eye on this topic! -
Yay, someone actually built this kit! I have one in the pile, with extra detail parts. Came out really nice! BRG looks good too.

Lighting a display box for a model
89AKurt replied to OldNYJim's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Good thing you started this topic! Bill helped a bunch, I looked further into the tape lights, bookmarked. Once you get them, should test in various size cardboard boxes. I'm betting that if the box is too small, the lights would drown/flood the car and be too much glare. I'm posting this shadowbox diorama, last century there was an artist in Prescott who was famous for these, Bob Hope had some. He had to do with the incandescent tube light bulbs behind the blue shield at the top, which I assume washed down the sky background nicely. Hope this helps.
