Amazing Grace accompaniment

Showing my age, when Candy-O came out I got the cassette tape, and wore it out! Great music. Also tempting to do a vignette of the Candy-O album cover, just need to find a model of a Ferrari 365 GTC/4 and scour Shapeways website for the figure. So many favorite musicians kicking the bucket lately, my favorite is Miley Cyrus. ?~cough~?

Sorry, all I have done is make a display base. ? This does not qualify for the definition of a Diorama, otherwise I would post in the Diorama section (unless Admin suggests I do so). The IPMS has a definition of a diorama, and the Desert Scale Classic rules state a base should not be more than 2" beyond the model, which it does if the car was dead nuts centered. So it's just a display base. Wood came from a friend, some sort of exotic wood, the base is particle board so it shouldn't warp. I milled to shape on the table saw, with a ledge so I could put a glass box over it. Styrofoam cut with a hot-wire. After the glue set, I used the router with straight bit to cut down the edge, then used the Dremel to finalize the profile with a 45° angle. Sanded the frame, then applied Watco oil. Love that smell! ? First layer of Celluclay is applied. I add some Titebond glue for good measure. Used up my supply! Made wood tools, wheels for the tracks, a screed to make ripples, and a shaped stick for footprints. Found out Hobby Lobby does not carry Celluclay, but Michael's does, but that cost almost $30! ? Second layer has acrylic paint added. After drying in the pickup cab, I used hair spray to hold the Coral Pink Sand Dunes sand in place, several layers. (Funny thing, brand label says unscented, but 6th ingredient is perfume) Guess this will do. ?

That's cool you have a connection with such a car. I shoulda woulda coulda worked at a dealership..... but I don't live in a big city. I thought the Turbo 924s had extra grill slots above the bumper, perhaps the first ones? I have a Monogram 924 in my junkyard.

Wow, that's a really clean build! I feel your pain regarding decals, bet the red ones on the fenders were fun. What is with the clear under pan?

Have you tried two-part clear epoxy glue? For the IMC J-car the headlights were flat, so I piled it into a dome. If what you are talking about are rounded, then a thin even layer might give the impression of a lens.

Who gets asked to fix something, just because you're known for building models? ? Wife said her laptop sound wasn't working, and couldn't plug in the cord for the speakers used for her job. I tried to plug in my cord, obvious that it wouldn't. Looked in the hole, looked in my laptop's hole, then I could see a tip had come off. Eyeballed the size of the stub, went to the workbench. Used a sprue, drilled a hole in the end. Came back, dabbed some superglue in the sprue hole, stuck it in the hole. At that point, wife said we better find a YouTube video about how to pull that out, found a dude who used a soldering iron and copper wire, said "it should be a variable voltage type" (yea everyone has one of those), "just get a little solder on the end, then carefully" ..... I'm sitting, giving her a funny look .... "oh yea be sure it's not under warrantee and turned off" .... I have one of those grins, she's looking worried ....... "and if it is, just have them do it" ........ she's looking at me, worried about the glue ......... "and if it doesn't work the first time, just add more solder on the end" ........ I start giving her $#i* and laughing ......... "but here is one that worked!" Figured that was enough time for the glue to have set. I rise from the Lazyboy, stroll over to her laptop, carefully grab the sprue with both hands, gently pull out (I couldn't cross my fingers, so had an exaggerated grimace ?), and what do you know! ? You have a story?

Thank you for the very detailed tutorial. But I still have a dumb question, picture of one tube, but you talk about mixing two parts?

So..... I searched "scriber" hoping to see something more recent. I just looked at eBay > Toys & Hobbies > scriber tool and found a ton of different style tools that ranged from what looks like super narrow chisels, photo-etch saw blades, templates, scrapers for edges and mold lines, holy cow! Most made in China. I've seen the type of line chisel that is a hook that you drag, carbide, but really expensive, and hard to find. I see in a previous post the Trumpeter tool, which I saw, looks good enough to try out. Anyone have experience with the latest?

I had used up the 100 generic #11 blades that I got last century, ordered from eBay 100 more with a handle, received today. I know they aren't authentic X-acto, box has inspix, but cost $10.99. I don't think twice when a blade stops working well, to change it out.

My neighbor is a guide for Colorado River running. He was at the bottom of the Grand Canyon that day, noticed the lack of air traffic, but didn't have contact with home until he ended the trip.
