  1. Nice! Bare Metal foil used? I knew someone with one of these, but a hardtop. Took him down to the Maricopa junkyard south of Phoenix because he needed brake drums, none around. Funny how cars have memories for you.
  2. ^^^^ Scott has good taste! And I'm sure he will find something else to get, like Renaissance Tk24/189 detail parts. This has been a subject on the back burner for a long time, doing a replica of the '57 Chevy station wagon I owned. I have 3 different '57 kits, was daunted about converting a Nomad into the lowly family truckster. Rick Hainline posted From the Class of '57 which includes what I wanted, asked where he got his, and of course evilBay. Love this forum!
  3. Great job! That turned out really well. It's a very nice kit, I have one in progress with some modifications. Do you wish the front VW emblem was separate?
  4. Excellent! Love the subject, have built 3 of those kits. The hay bales....... ~achoo~ ..... allergy season. Love the turquoise too. Did you use techniques from the Extreme Weathering book?
  5. I have not been on here for 12 years or 3,612 posts. And other times I've posted something, I was told it was posted before, so I learnt my lesson. You happen to build any of the kits listed here?
  6. Thank you! The windshield sure is clear!
  7. Thank you! Great, loose tires and windows, not a good thing to see. Is it AWD? The jalousie windows would be fun to fabricate. The steering wheel has sink mark?
  8. If I sold it, would not make enough to have paid for gas to Phoenix. LOL People aren't asking ridiculous prices on evilBay, unlike the '67-'72 Chevy pickup kits. Was hoping somebody else has already opened theirs, so I can see how much it sucks.
  9. The Panther 6 was a limited production car produced by Panther in Great Britain. According to World Cars 1978 book, it had a Cadillac 500 c.i. with twin turbos, Turbo-Hydramatic 425. The tires were P7 205/40 VR x 13" front, 265/50 VR x 16" rear. The length was 192" (487cm), front track 61.50" (156cm). Wheel base was 105" (267cm). The Tamiya Tyrrell P34 is 1/20 scale. It was 155" (3.94m) long, front track 49.56" (1.26m), wheelbase to first axle 96.58" (2.453m), second axle 78.48" (1.993m). When I measure the wheels using the 1/2" = 1' architectural scale (1/24 scale), I see 12" front, and 16" rear. When I sketched out the converted 1/20 to 1/24 length, it's about a 1 3/8" difference, or a 1/4" shorter than the Panther. Is it plausible to use tires from a 1/24 classic Mini Cooper (for example), or use 1/43 something for the front wheels? I also know this would hardly be accurate, but the Ford engine and transmission is too nice to toss, and seems to be about the right size for 1/24, and adding tow turbos would be too cool. The kit also has different parts for a motorized version, so good scrap box goodies. Of course would not use the Tyrrell rear tires. LOL The body shouldn't be too hard to make, other than the front bumper/grill. I have more ideas than time.
  10. I picked this up at the Phoenix model swap meet. I don't see that anyone has reviewed, much less built this kit (yes I did a search, two hits). I looked on eBay *after* I bought it, does not appear to be a sought after collectible kit, so should I open it?
  11. I searched for anything about the Aerovette before starting a new topic......
  12. that doubled overnight.
  13. Hey, another Zonie! Of course, welcome. Appreciate the other comments, and JC's vintage photo is cool.
  14. weaver serenading nobody
  15. Attended the Phoenix model swap today. First time I ever tried selling stuff, made a whole dollar. Couldn't just sit with the guys at their table (shared). Got an Italeri 250GT California (just because they are scarce), Revell/Monogram Aerovette (just because it's cool, and unusual), Tamiya Tyrrell P34 1:20 (possible Panther 6 conversion if I'm really crazy).
  16. I was just checking out 3D and the Maple Leaf products, so searched and found this topic. Started with looking at diorama figures.
