  1. When I attended the 2013 IPMS Thin Air Nationals in Denver, took the tour to the Shelby museum, and the Clive Cussler collection. You have to enjoy the irony, of military focused IPMS having tours of car collections. Posting just a few pictures of the Shelby collection, which is a cooperative of several owners. Car #21 is very special, it's the test mule in unrestored condition. IMHO it's fairly easy to build a model that is clean and shiny, but take a look at the patina of that car.
  2. I've seen a couple of those rallies. Long time ago a stop in Prescott, and another time at the start, and it was raining then too!
  3. How cool is that! Great job for coming out of retirement.... that doesn't sound right.
  4. caving into temptation
  5. Saw this promo at a show last year, asking too much IMHO.
  6. I grabbed the Blazer kit that's available now, knowing the '72 grill and earlier bumper needed correction. Found a resin copy of the '69 grill on evilBay (LOL), so I'm happy. There are a few choices of slotted mags from Fireball Modelworks.
  7. Sorry to correct you, but my '69 2WD is 6 lug. I just got different wheels, which have larger center holes for 4WD, which I did not care to worry about. I appreciate this topic very much! After I got my pickup, started looking for a kit, and was taken aback how scarce and expensive these kits are! Now it's eBay hunting and bidding, or waiting for a new release, which would happen after blowing a load on an original, right?
  8. Thank you for confirming! Love that diner diorama! The book: THE TOM MIX CORD: SAGA OF A WESTERN FILM STAR'S CLASSIC MOTORCAR
  9. That must have been a 24 hour day without sleep or eating. We all need to bang out quick builds like this, clears the cobwebs, and you get the feeling of actually finishing something. If you added a giant wing, that would have been another whole day. Thumbs up!
  10. Very nice! Pretty color, and well done. I've recently been building vehicles my dad owned, finished two, have two kits with conversion parts, but still want to figure out how to do the Mercury which is similar to this coupe. And his dad had a '57 Chevy Handyman wagon, which is why I owned a '57 4 door wagon. So we have similar family car history. So cool you did this!
  11. Regarding hot rodding classic cars, William Ruger of firearm fame, turbocharged one of his favorite Stutz, I got to see it many years ago. Callaway: Ruger Stutz DV32 Turbo
  12. The reason I searched and then read this topic! I am considering getting the Monogram Cord, since I found a book about Tom Mix's car was published recently.
  13. And that's why we get along. Not that I would never do such a thing.
  14. Love the shocks! Watching this build, cheering you on!
  15. excrement sandwich, served
  16. That never happens to me. I started this VW Bus in 2003. I wrecked three perfectly good models when I started. But since then, have acquired fiber-optic "cable" (not like the real communications, but a party thingie), and LED lights that car dealers send in junk mail. I had just pulled it out recently, so great topic! The other picture was taken years ago, when I had several projects waiting for the moon to drop. I have finished the Golf (Nick Of Time diorama), Civic (Sintegra), Porsche Speedster Turbo, Miata (Monster 5.0). So unless I start something new, I have the Bus, Bigatti, and a Chevy Canopy Express to finish up.
  17. You forgot 1/32, seems to be a common scale for older car kits. My two cents, discovered it makes a difference to fit a 1:24 scale 427 into a 1:25 scale Corvette, good ol' Dremel tool earned it's keep.
