  1. Great discussion thread! I think the GSL show has had sessions to discuss the hobby that reflects what everyone above has said. We humans are a weird lot, always evolving, never stuck in the same mode. Well, always some exceptions. To say interest in cars in general is dying, go to any car show, and check out some of the customs that cost more than our homes, check out the super dooper exotics that are being built for the super dooper rich, but of course the TV shows about cars are mostly older people, just like we see in our hobby. It's unrealistic to expect to see half the demographics of a model show being younger than you, that's the trouble with getting old. This is why model clubs exist. In my small town, there are 3, but most of the guys are into military, so I *have to* represent the automotive part of the hobby. Once in a while a teen is invited. But I suspect video games, internet trolling, and chasing girls is more of a priority. There is also an influence through the schools that I could go into that could get me banned from this forum, so I'll just leave it here.
  2. during St. Patties (Yes Steve! LOL)
  3. I see this is your first post, welcome to the party! Good thing I'm not into WW1 airplane models, holy cow. The leather decals is a great contribution, thank you.
  4. Love it! I need to try weathering like this.
  5. Thanks! Even though I favor Ferrari and Lamborghinis, seems like I have as many Porsches.
  6. I wouldn't do this one, but I love seeing others do so! I like your idea for jazzing up the chrome with the pen, but keep it away from any sun because UV rays might fade the colors.
  7. It does? That's the BAT7. I believe painting it a different color would be sacrilegious enough.
  8. Yes I am! Good service.
  9. More pictures on Fakebook:
  10. Seeing if I can stay sane building two models at the same time. The Paris Dakar 959 is a really nice resin transkit, and I could not let the donor kit just sit in the box, so I am also building something different. The fun thing about a project like this, I need to be accurate with the race car, but can design as I go with the Speedster. A disappointment is how Tamiya left out the intercoolers and piping, and the transkit ignores that feature too! The Paris Dakar 959 pushed the envelope in it's day, and I have seen 1:18 die cast models. But it really needs to be done like it was rode hard and hung up wet, perhaps scraping it along the ground will add appropriate texture. I have found some fitment issues, otherwise so far so good. The Speedster, I know it would be sacrilegious to hack up a real 911 Speedster and 959, but that's what's fun about models! I built a 930 slant nose Turbo Speedster with some of the parts, other parts are in another project (stalled for some time). I'm thinking of hinging the door on the bottom, so it could be used as a camera car. It's also just a Curbside. Good & Evil Twins.
  11. Great, more awesome ideas for things I'll never get around to doing. That is really cool!
  12. Everything is for sale, just look at all the sponsorship logos. They tried pickups, maybe they can introduce SUVs, with Playskool sponsorship.
  13. I like this, must the the fastest brick around.
  14. Thanks! I asked to take pictures of their Camaro patrol car for emblems and license plate. Also radar gun. LOL
  15. You don't need to justify this to me! I have many subjects that will never be available again. And I'm waiting on two orders at the moment, hoping they will show up someday. And I'm also wanting to get a Chevy pickup, preferably '69, but they are gold-plated at this time. Any bets if I blow good money, the next week it will be re-popped?
