It was time to paint the flames this morning, so I carefully applied the masks to the body and removed the inner portions, although that's kind of hard to see in the pics as the masks are blue against the blue car. I made sure everything was burnished down snug, although on each side's lower door hinge I should have cut around the hinge and applied the cut part in front of the hinge as it just wouldn't stay stuck to the body there. I also should have taken the time to cut around the rear wheel opening and re-apply it that way. Chalk those up to lessons learned for the next time. Anyways, the first color sprayed was Createx Pearl Silver, then I sprayed on Anita's Galvanized Tin, and after some deliberation I lastly sprayed on Decoart Obsidian. Then came the moment of truth, the un-masking. That step was done very carefully, and was a success, as was the flame job itself. After a little touch-up, everything looks A-OK, at least to me, lol. It's not a perfect job, but I'm very pleased with the outcome for my first flame mask job. Next up is finishing it off with more Createx 4050 Clear.

Thanks, I think Tamiya is by far the best as well, unfortunately I didn't have the color I wanted on hand in their brand but did have the Dupli-color. As far as painting parts on the tree, most of the parts do get taken off for painting, but my working space is a bit cramped and it's just easier to paint the smaller parts, at least for me, while still on the tree. I'll take as many parts off as I can, as convenient for me, and spray them all around, but too many loose parts almost inevitably ends up with one or two missing as is usually my luck, lol. There's almost always some trimming to do anyways, so no big deal.

Likely a very long-term project..... Building a Coyote X

I always liked that car, but the kit was challenging to say the least. I can't wait to see how yours turns out! -

Today's progress on the Revell '29 Model A Roadster. I sprayed on two coats of Createx 4050 Clear in preparation for the flames. Interior is sprayed in Apple Barrel White and Admiral Blue, with white embossing powder painted Admiral Blue for the carpet, a few touch-ups are needed but nothing major. Engine is sprayed in Anita's Galvanized Tin, Tamiya Clear Blue on the shifter knob, battery box, and front shocks. Tamiya Clear Red for the mufflers and wood grain steering wheel, and Panel Line Accent on the radiator shell, timing cover and oil and transmission pans.

Looks great! Well done!

Very well done!

That does look good! My issue with that kit would be how easy/possible to strip or prime and paint over the body as I would want to go a different color.

Nice looking Vette!

All three on the left, but the lower two on the left really stand out especially the bottom red and black one!

That's going to look great! I'm not so sure the Mystic Emerald has any gold in it, but it is a very sharp color.

Very nice looking Road Runner!

I re-sprayed the Stynylrez Gray Primer on the body this morning and am happy to say it meets my approval. I also measured and bent some wiring for the hinges and glued some tubing in place for them as well as some thin sheet styrene to keep the trunk in place. Now I'll work on mixing up a custom blue for it and possibly get it painted tomorrow.

WOW! Excellent work on that one! Extremely well detailed!

I sure hope so, my hand started cramping and the rest of my arm felt like it was going to fall off, so I hope it was worth it, lol. The LA's Totally Awesome did pretty much nothing to strip the paint after three days, so I was relegated to trying to sand the paint off. After lots of wet-sanding, starting with 220 grit, then 320 grit and finally 600 grit it feels pretty smooth. I will spray some Stynylrez Primer back on it tomorrow and see what it looks like.
