  1. My to do list had me cleaning and organizing the house to get ready for a model car building weekend this coming weekend. So hopefully I'll have a nice load of progress pics in a couple days! Enjoy the vaca! But don't wander too far off the path, you might get. . . Lost!
  2. That engine really is looking good! Y'know, if you want me to go to Hawaii for you so you can get work done on the F40 I'd be happy to help!
  3. Ha ha I was just thinking I haven't posted an update on this in a while. I've been mocking the engine up to start building some of the missing details. Making some progress but nothing really picture worthy. Looks like you're making enough progress for us all. The F40 is looking sharp.
  4. Just completed a trade with Steve (Intmd8r), great member to trade with.
  5. Wait a minute, not a red Ferrari?! One of the reasons I like it so much. Nice job on the build and great color choice.
  6. NICE! Great execution, love the concept!

I dig it! Looks like a solid tuner and the details you built really set it apart from the rest.
  8. Looking good! The engine in that kit is a model by itself, gonna be fun watching it come together.
  9. Ha ha, yeah we're playing the catch up game now! The Civic interior looks awesome! I'm planning on trying flocking for the first time on the Countach. Going with the tan/black interior. Scott, I've seen that set as well, looks like a few nice details for the F40. I'm learning how to use PE on my little F40 that's on the bench next to the Lambo. It's really fun to add those tiny little details. I also found some Chrome "Ferrari" transfers that look like they should be a good way to apply the text badge on the rear deck. They are on their way from ebay. Got a little done on the Countach. The fact that this started as a motorized kit caused the details to be a bit off, or missing all together. Not nearly as detailed as the F40. I will try to add a few of the missing details. I temporarily assembled the engine into the chassis so I can fab up the coolant lines. The kit's large transmission piece towards the back of the car was used to hide the drive gears in the motorized version, so it's not very accurate. I am also going to try to replicate the larger air boxes. the kit air boxes do resemble one setup they did have in the Countach but the bigger ones will hide some of the missing parts of the chassis. Started working on the body. Maked the low spots that need attention. Attached the body moldings too. I've decided to not have the opening hood and lights. As cool of details they are, for displaying I just want the engine cover and doors open.
  10. Very cool!
  11. Awesome color! Engine looks great.
  12. That's when you know you have the right color. The rest of the kit looks great too.
  13. Hey James, the dash looks good. The detail on the buttons is just enough, it doesn't look like the whole button is painted which is what usually happens to me when I detail instrument panels.
  14. I used a .125" Non Electrical Repair Solder. It's a lead solder I found at an auto parts store. It was in the adhesives isle instead of the electrical isle.
  15. I was under the impression that this is the work in progress for the group build.
  16. Cool, thanks for the info. I did some google photo browsing this morning and found some good reference photos of Countach engines. Managed to find a few of this kit as well and that hole is visible when the model is complete so I will fill it in before painting. And for how detailed this kit is I noticed there are a few important details that aren't included. No coolant hoses? there is the start of the coolant hose setup in the kit but it ends where the real one branches apart to go to each radiator. That little nub (S22) is all the kit provides for a coolant hose. Here you can see how the upper and lower coolant hoses run. And no accessory belts. By the pictures I found online it's tough to tell how the accessories are driven but there is at least one external belt. I'm thinking this could be replicated easily but funny they omitted it.
  17. had a nice relaxing evening planned but couldn't help get into this before settling down. The body looks as straight as I can see with my eyes. The main body/wheel molding is a bit warped but the plan is to glue it to the body before painting so working along it with plastic weld little by little shouldn't be a problem. She's much bigger than the 24th scale F40 that's also going to be back on the bench. And apparently it used to be motorized. Some scraping and a dab of putty will fix that. The ignition wire and springs for the coil overs. There are three chrome trees and each is a different type of chrome. The wheels are a nice satin chrome, looks very much like polished aluminum. The middle tree is a nice bright silver. And the right is a very shiny chrome! It's way too early to be freaking out about this kit, but I'm getting a little freaked out about this kit! These diagrams seem to just be a "schematic" rendering of the instructions but in trying to understand them they are confusing me! And I have no idea what this hole is for? What goes into it? can it be seen when the kit is complete? Total mystery! This step in the instructions makes it even more puzzling. Mystery arrow! The fit of the transmission halves was not that spectacular. So I cut off the locator pegs, scuffed the edges, and let the plastic weld do it's job. Much better! But I got the main engine pieces together and will get some other parts cleaned and in primer soon.
  18. Great way to lose track of so many hours! I tried it out cause all my nephews have it. Figured I could go on and play one of their games with them since mine are a little too violent. It is fun once you get into it, but make sure to set your alarm so you don't spend the whole day playing it!
  19. Thank you for all the great comments. They do really mean alot but this kit passed the only test that mattered. I gave it to my friend Sunday. He, his wife, and their daughter each went over it and we're thrilled with how it turned out. It was awesome to get the thanks from him and I'm sure this one will be displayed proudly.
  20. Finished up the Vette and cleaned the bench last night. Got the Countach out and started organizing it. Would be nice to know Japanese, there's alot of special notes in the instructions and I have no idea what they are. That CRX is looking good. My favorite Honda.
  21. Ha ha! I'm packing up and moving right now!
  22. Nice color, the pearl changed it so much! I thought you'd have to take those temporary pieces off before sanding and polishing. Looks like they were thinking with the positioning of those.
  23. Ooof, that looks like it'll be a fragile body to handle once those tabs are removed! Cool concept car and I'm interested to see this one come together. Ha ha, you ever get that feeling you're being watched?
  24. Both look sweet! I like the matching upholstery on the seats, well done.
  25. Thanks Lee, yes, I touched up a photo of the real under hood artwork and printed it on decal paper.
